Alternative title: Games without Grind


Since making this account i downloaded and played more games then i'd like to admit. And have found that alot of them don't seem to have a story at all. They have a setting. You are X looking to bang Y and to do this you must Compliment 5x, Go to the Gym 3x, Lick Ass 2x.

Some do this better then others but substituting character development with repetition has still gotten rather boring for me.


On the other hand there are games that do try to keep moving forward and tell this tale but they lack in content. The most popular of these probably being DMD in which the relationships weren't always believeable (especially the side characters) but atleast it tried. Only afaik it only got as far as a titjob with the main love intrest. (Other games have much denser sex content but still often lacking content overall)


Recently however i played Army Gals.
A game in which you are lost in the woods with a dwindling food supply and 3 beautiful girls. Only one of them might be a murderer.

The gameplay itself was a bit lacking and i found the ending somewhat disappointing but the setup had me hooked. Still a reasonably short game but a finished one!


TLDR:
I am looking for more games with intresting stories. But i find it hard to tell which games have a worthwhile amount of content.

3D or 2D is fine with the stipulation of consistent artwork. Roundscape Adorevia is a great game but the constant changing artwork ruins it somewhat for me. Especially if a scene you were looking forward to is drawn by an artist you don't like.

Currently waiting on TFET book 3 to finish.

Depraved Awakening, Wicked Choices, Coceter Chronicles, and I Love Daddy are my favorite games as far as wrting goes so far... probably in that order.

Parental Love and Babysitter follow the same style as DmD but have much better writing... Add My Sweet neighbors to that list.

Sisterly Lust is kinda unique in a way... it's built like it'll be a Harem Life Sim, but it actually manages to go VN with the premise and in doing so has developed interesting characters while also having some exciting sexual content. Not necessarily as good in writing as my top 4 up there, but it's a shining star to be sure.

Let me know how you like them, or if you've played them all, I might have more suggestions as well.

Actual games, it would be Something Unlimited by Sunsetriders7, it has good writing and in character for the most part. Also Mythic Manor and Waifu Academy, but both are only just beginning.

If you don't mind VNs there are a lot more of good material, like Fruit of Grisaia, Majikoi, Kara no Shoujo (actually anything by Innocent Grey), Katawa Shoujo, Yume Miru Kurisu, Nobleworks, Euphoria ( nugike).

BTW if you disliked the inconsistent artwork in RA, check my mod, at least you can go right for the good scenes.

Coceter Chronicles without a doubt. Im the same way. Story is everything to me lol. and nverjos(not sure if spelled correctly) the dev for that game actually wrote the story years ago and turned into an adult porn game.
Its really really well done story wise and its not lacking on content either.

EDIT:
Wanted to also add in Sins of the Father as that one surprisingly hasnt been mentioned yet. Its lacking in content right now(got some nude scenes in it though) as it only started recently and is on hold while the dev looks in some technical problems. But the story is good.

Also The Awakening. Again another short one that only recently started but shows a lot of promise and has a decent story developing. Less content than Sins of the father but does have a blowjob scene so

I would agree and including Sisterly Lust i have played all 3 of those games. But i would consider them all to be a bit lacking in content. They got me intrested and then they were over.

Your first 4 suggestion look very intresting and i will be trying those out over the coming week.

JP VNs were how i got started playing adult games however many years ago. I have already played a good amount of them including a couple on your list. And one in which Kublai Khan was a sexy lady. I shall never forget you sexy Kublai lady.

But i found they could be a bit messy with translations and locales and what not so i have been avoiding them lately. Once i run out of intresting 'western' games i will probably start playing them again. (I have played Katawa Shoujo)

I find that i am a bit pickier in what i consider to be a worthwhile amount of content then others. Possibly a bit unreasonable. So anything described as a bit short i will just avoid for now. I would rather wait a few years until that promise has paid off.

Sadly, the only game I suggested that is completed is I Love Daddy. My one suggestion with this game, to understand what makes it so good, you have to play all 10 endings. It is in Ren'Py, so you can ofc skip by the parts you've already played in order to make the choices necessary to learn the other story bits, but that's where this game shines, in the revelations about it's world and lore that are made in the endings.

As you mentioned story i'm only going to put up stuff with stories I found i enjoyed. If you are looking for pure sex you won't find them here although some of them do have numerous sex scenes the story came first.

Tlero's stuff has some fantastic stories.

They are all part of one big story arc but also have their own contained stories. They go in that order. There are also a couple of short stories with Elsa around.

There is another one by Moertze who works with Tlero called Pandora but it isn't here, it's one of my favourites, i'll hunt down a link for it if I remember later.

That's a kinetic novel more romance based. It has some really good moments but it does have a lot of cliche anime romance moments with all the awkward stuff that comes with that.

Another romance one but I liked the characters in it. There are only a handful of choices but they affect the ending.

It's a noir like crime story with a decent plot and some really good characters. So far it's been really well done and seems to be coming along nicely.

The plot is nothing special, brother and sister get accidentally roomed together at college, but the writing is pretty good. The sister isn't the love interest though so if you are looking for incest, it's not here. There are, however, some hilarious scenes and enough sex to keep people going.

Not a massive amount of content but the story and characters are great and it looks to be heading down some interesting paths. It's a bit on the dramatic side with the current end being a quite bloody cliffhanger.
