Asking this since there a career that I want to do that involve them checking stuff like my social media and things like it in order for me to get it and not sure if they can or will check these type of places and if they do want to know if I could get in trouble for it.

mostly yes - "pirating". some games are free, though.
And depending on where you live all or some lewd games may be illegal to possess/ run.

Then again, noone forces you to disclose your identity here, or to reveal in your job interview that you like to play "rape 1000 lolis".

I live in the US so don't think it illegal to own lewd games, just worry that they somehow will find it (this job does involve the goverment) and not just get in trouble for downloading pirated games but also lose the chance of getting the job.

Just don't watch, download or play at work and you should be ok...

Instead of firing government workers using government computers to watch porn, they pass a bill.

As always though, don't ask on a porn forum, ask professionals. There are a number of free legal advice websites for inside or outside of the US. It's best to use one or contact a lawyer in person. The best you can get here are guesses.

written before morphnet's answer.

well, am not sure if anyone knows how things will develop federal-wise, but generally (Germany-based) I'd say it depends on the field. If job is in legal field, then by all means stay legal.
If job is ranger in national park then I can not see anyone being all that interested in you playing or watching pirated content.

And as said, you can stay legal.
Patreon style devs often have a free version, some devs generally develop free games, buy stuff on steam or ... well, no idea if DLsite is still available to US customers without hoops.

Well, let's be serious. There seem to be some laws on privacy, so no one will just get into your computer from the police until they have a good reason to do so.

If the game being developed is on a site like patreon or something like that and all content is legal for sites the product is being sold on, then there is probably some form of downloading it without the developers permission that the dev has legal rights.

The vast majority of devs though look for loopholes to develop stuff like incest or child crap, so even if someone stole that vile shit, the dev couldn't actually come out and claim their property has been stolen as their property is probably illegal in the first place.

yes. 100% "illegal".

you need to be ashamed of yourself for being here OP.

if you're feeling guilty then you should turn yourself in, 60 to life years in prison should be enough.

Are you not deleting your browsing history? Such a brave, honest soul.

So long as you don't link your socials to this place, all should be well.
