Is it just me or are there less higher quality games being released as regularly/consistently?

Just wondering if it's simply my perspective and maybe growing pickiness but it seems like in the last year or so that I have been seeing less quality games released as regularly.

I feel like it used to be that there would be at least 1 or 2 games in the update section every day that were worth checking out. Now? Sometimes it can be a week or more with there being nothing I even feel is worth a download or looking twice at. Multiple days with nothing but pixel graphic, html, real porn or just super lazily made games. Maybe it's just that I've run through everything already released that was quality so now the wait for updates/releases is longer.

Anyone else feel like this or is it just me?

yea, some years ago i'm pretty sure i could find a new game worth to try every 2-3 days. Now i can spend one month without downloading anything 'cause it's extremely basic stuff without any ambition neither graphic nor gameplay wise.

New games are so bad now that even basic hrpg with emotionless heroine number 41512 looks okayish. But they become rarer.

100% Honesty, there are less than 10 games I would genuinely consider to be good on the whole of F95. When I say game, I don't mean a Visual novel, I mean a game where actions, combat, experience, skill, etc... actually matters. To answer your questions: It's always been like this!

Just saying, there was not really charming adult games until 2016-2020 era.
The adult games that can be called "games" were born in that time.

After 2020 (aka corona shitshow) we see more devs with more titles.
But they are still using the same old tools with even less effort than the previous devs.

As a player, you can't really do much than lurking on lots of websites find games other than whining about it.
If the devs continue to use the same old tools, nothing will change anytime soon.

It`s just the same as Newgrounds era. Nor the first, nor the last flood of shovelware. It`s comes and goes as waves.

Personally I have only noticed it over the last 6 years.

There's probably a lot of different factors to this and it's most likely a mixture of all of them. You've played a lot of good games, so maybe your standard has raised for what qualifies as a good game. You've gotten older, so your tastes might've changed. As someone else said, there's a bigger influx of games being made during Corona, so more games means more shitty ones out there.
And who knows, maybe people are uploading their games on different sites.

I don't really play enough games to give you a list of stuff I recommend, but I'm sure someone else could tell you what's worth checking out these days.

Ya know, this question has been asked a hundred times. I've commented on several, and honestly, I think my opinion changes each time. Although in the past I disagreed to varying degrees, I don't think I do anymore. So, I suppose I'll answer seriously.

We are a relatively small community of hobbyists, enthusiasts and amateurs. Furthermore, this is fundamentally a porn community. As a result, not only are we extremely limited by the size and fundamental construct of the community as a whole, we are also limited by the diverse interests, ideologies and extremists that come with any pornographic identity.

What makes a "great game" may be subjective, but occasionally a game comes out that is considered a great every so often. When this happens, it sets a new standard that most new developers will strive for to some degree. However, considering that we are a community of hobbyists, enthusiasts and Amateurs, the higher the standard, the more difficult it becomes to create a game.

I may have never started to create a game, but from what I've seen from those who have created games, the biggest hurdle is just getting started. If we believe this is true, how demoralizing do you suppose it is for someone who wants to create a great game? It makes that hurdle even harder to overcome and they never even try.

So, with that in mind, realistically the only people left to make games are those who either don't care about making great games in the first place, or those who think they could make a quick buck on some sort of imitated garbage. Either way, the result is oftentimes similar, if not identical. We are left with subpar games that no one realistically wants to play, and generally just demoralizes everyone involved, rather that be players, current developers, and potential developers.

There are many other issues tbh. But I believe this is a major problem. Realistically, there isn't an easy solution for this, but if we think about it optimistically, it will solve itself given enough time. Either new technology reduces the workload of developers, or our standards decrease due to a long period of subpar games. In either scenario, this problem will inevitably solve itself.

Might just be your interests. I know mine don't show up in the new section much.

Honestly, it might have something to do with just playing too many games. Your tastes get more refined, you can easily filter "trash" at a glance. Sometimes you just grow out of it.
