is it just me or did the writers really nerf korra in the legend of korra?

i just finished watching the legend of korra and i genuinely think the writers nerfed korra compared to aang or the other avatars. even her avatar state felt way weaker than aang’s. when korra enters the avatar state, it barely felt like a big power up. ik that the lok was telling a different kind of story with very different settings & villains, but aang was ending a war, so the stakes were huge for him too. korra’s world was more political and spiritual, so it makes sense that things were scaled down a bit. but even with that in mind, her avatar state doesn’t feel as overwhelming

when she loses her connection to the past avatars, it felt like she was no longer the full version of the avatar. that took away a lot of what made the avatar state special. i’m not saying korra was weak, but her bending never felt as epic as aang’s or the other avatars. it really felt like they pulled her back a bit just so the story could stay balanced. anyone else feel the same?

i wouldn't say it's bad... imho, it's one of the best animated shows out there. the only letdown for me was how the world was built and how the setting leaned too much into politics. i'm not sure if it's accurate to say it was promoting liberalism, but it def felt like a shift from the more balanced tone of the original series. also, i didn't like how they nerfed korra way too much. still, book 3 & 4 were the best parts of the series for me, and i think it ended on a good note

Well yes, for one Aang was the long dead Avatar and only Airbender so had something no one else did & had no idea how to face - Korra lives in a world where that is not unique (and being avatar isn't a surprise shock). Its like if Aang discovered black-powder and everyone was shocked/stun locked, but Korra lives in a later world where it is known (oh that is just black-powder).

The only good thing that came out of Korra is the porn. Series is kinda garbo.

Are you just saying that because book four of a certain popular Avatar game on here includes Korra headpats?

but i must say, korra was a better avatar than aang. she had to face much tougher & more complex villains compared to aang. i wasn’t really fond of her until book 2, after the episodes about avatar wan, i started liking her a lot more. if only the writers had made her as strong as aang, she could’ve been even better

Good for you, but I am not. Nothing good comes from revisiting the old stuff, just nostalgia bait and an inferior product (if you are lucky) or a destruction of what you liked (at worse). PLus I rewatched Avatar and its not as good as I remembered when I was little (it follows a formula similar to pokemon, nothing wrong with that but its definitely a show for kids).

Remake/revisit success rates are... kobra kai vs every other thing. Pretend there isn't one if you like the original unless you hear good things.

Sometimes let the magic be magic...

Or like Kobra Kai did, accept that it was watched by kids who are no longer kids and make the show for that audience at their new age. But alas, most try to match the same tone etc. as the original without the things that made the original special.
