What do Japanese people think about western porn games? I guess there aren't that many completed western games being sold on steam or anything, so pirating may not be the right word. What do they think about the typical DAZ/HS renpy VN/free roamer? What about the ones closer to what they are used to like Alansya Chronicles or something?

As I see it, japanese games have 2 very common themes. RPGM female protagonist corruption games. This is probably the most common type from the indie devs. It was really hot at first but this theme is way too overdone and lost its appeal to me. For the proper studio releases, there are a multitude of VN of all types. One thing that is pretty clear is that japanese VNs don't have too many choices for you to make. Many of the choices that are present are pretty much used for picking routes and some combination of choices to determine the ending you get. You won't see many games that try to be immersive or something. Rather, they have a pretty focused story or theme and tell it in the best way they can.
As far as sex scenes go. Japanese VNs focus very heavily on dialogue. You have a lot of talking during the scenes (especially for the more depraved stuff) and I personally find this type of style takes the best advantage of the medium. If I wanted realistic sex with very few words exchanged, I would watch porn. The closest thing on the western side is imo The Tyrant with SAZ mod.
