just wanna say its been about a year since i've been back here and all the games enjoyed and used to follow are either abandoned or in the middle of a "remake" feels bad man.
The remake thing is to be expected though. There has been literal paradigm shifts in the pretty much all forms of rendering be it AI generation or 3D rendering.

Edit: As for the abandoned thing, you get used to it. The majority of games linked here are by hobby devs trying to make a quick buck that run into the brick wall of "Wow this is actually a lot like work."

On top of what tanstaafl said --- remember, many of the games here are being developed by creators who do not do this for a living, but are learning and/or hobbyists and/or part-timers and, as such, are much more likely than traditional video game producers to make changes, take longer time to develop, and drop projects before deciding to complete the project. Even when dealing with more experienced developers, things change and development is never linear, also it is not uncommon to drop projects before "completion" for AAA developers. Finally, a good number of the games found here will just stay in development phase in perpetuity because developers are enjoying what they are doing, have new ideas, and/or fans are asking for more content and don't want development to end until their "waifu" gets (more) content.

I think Steam is doing an okay job trying to remind players what they are getting into when they decide to try out games in development/early access:

And players should be very aware that there is a high rate of developers changing and dropping projects while games are in development. That's how development works.

I'm not grumpy, I'm just coded that way.

Also, them being hobbyists imply that life come before everything else. There's among the "abandoned" games, ones that are in fact just long time delayed due to this.

my general rule is to not play anything that doesn't have more than 2 or 3 updates as initial releases are more or less have nothing and the ones that continue development actual have a decent measure. Then don't go back to those games until a six month/ year later and if they are abandoned just take them off the watch list. so if they come back on latest update list its a pleasant surprise.

I can most certainly agree to that man. Most of the games I have the most hope for either gets abandoned or getts a NTR tag slapped on after I put in the interest and playtime into it. Feels bad man.
