Just me or games need to stop trying to "one up" each other on how extreme/weird they can be?

Just feel like it's progressed (regressed?) to the point where every other character is some weird Frankensteinian collection of body parts, furry, or needs a wheelbarrow for a bra. The settings also just keep more and more absurd.

It's either that or it's some weird browser game with random 15 year old porn jpgs for images.

At some point it's just not even sexual anymore. Maybe it's time to dial it back a bit and do a hard reset folks. I keep looking at latest updates and everything is so blasted weird that my eyes glaze over. It's a bit like browsing Steam looking for the next interesting indie game and they keep hitting you with Tractor Simulator 27 and Goat Simulator 5.

I have seen the same things for years now. Dicks keep getting bigger, tits keep growing more and more massive, asses getting fatter, legs getting chunkier, and it doesn't seem like there is any end in sight. It really does feel like creators have this burning need to go just that little bit bigger or fatter.

You are not alone in being turned off by it, but I guess that is just what passes for sexy these days in the 2d/3d/AI porn world. If that is what people like these days, more power to them, it just isn't for me.

The Californication of erotic games. There are still devs out there who make beautiful, realistic characters. Realistic not meaning high-poly 3D necesarrily but in proportion and bodily function.

Oh, I know there are still plenty of games out there that 'keep it real(istic)' and absolutely love 'em when I find one that scratches my kink/fetish mood at the time.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind a game with a character that has some major assets, but it just seems that these days everything has to be over the top.

Maybe it's the filter / tags / search you are using?

I just went from page 1 to 5 of latest updates, the last game there currently is stallion and first on page one is blow the job and 95% of them look to have normal proportions, dimensions etc. Haven't played most so can not comment on their game worlds but not seeing the Frankenstein part you are talking about.

Maybe it's some kind of escape from reality to explore the farthest fetishes of the human mind. Something that can't be explored much in traditional media, making many people seek out what's different from what they've seen too much of. Not sure about it though.

You aren't wrong but to me those games are a parody which I gladly skip.

There's few games that goes deep on the bimbos, but I agree that mostly games feature normal characters in terms of body.

The issue seem to be more cultural than anything else. Humans don't looks the same, especially when you compare two ethnic origins. While being "white", Hispano don't looks like North Europeans, Thais don't looks like Japaneses, and so on. Therefore, what a dev will find attractive can looks gross for others.

Not sure quite what style you have in mind, but if it's the Japanese corruption style, it makes sense to exclude those tags from searches. If you mean extreme stuff made in Daz, HS or Koikatsu that's less easy to exclude.

If you mean furry just exclude furry.

Well there's Japanese corruption stuff like this, or Daz balloon tits in vacuumed clothes like this. And both are tame examples, there's way more extreme stuff out there but it isn't easy to search through tags.

Go into the "seeking" section of recommendations. These games aren't weird enough for some people.

Well having looked at the last 5 pages of latest updates page I only saw two or three games with extreme-ish proportions which is a far cry from " every other character " and " I keep looking at latest updates and everything is so blasted weird that my eyes glaze over. "

Almost all had normal proportions or normal cartoon proportions, it could be what Anne said but I still don't see it, although his explanation does make sense but is hardly a majority problem.

I guess theres a generation of devs who build on shitty porn games and use those as their sole guide and reference, and this leads to subpar results. This seems common in jap hentai games in particular, very samey and if they do something "different" its just some extreme nonsense.

Devs who instead learn from literature, more established media, reality or their own experiences might end up making more normal experiences. People who find competency in a different area first and then pivot to making porn games also would have better perspectives than someone insulated in the f95 sphere from young age.

I personally prefer when something is closer to reality rather than far from it, but it's a matter of taste. As our friend mentioned above, in Japan we can see things that are quite far from the reality of the West, which are normal for them.

I keep looking at latest updates and everything is so blasted weird that my eyes glaze over.
The "Latest Update" queue is a large part of the problem.

Here's the game theory break-down; every 2 weeks you can update your game and get promoted to the Latest Update queue. You're free to update your project more often than that, but only every 2 weeks will you get a bump.

There's two ways to handle that; you can time your dev cycle to that 2 week bounce, or you can ignore it, and focus on your game. From the moment you hit the Latest Update, you've got about 3-5 hrs before you slide off below the fold, and about 48 hrs until you're so far down you no longer see a bounce in likes/posts.

Now, I know that to players "2 weeks" sounds like eternity; if we devs weren't busy snorting cocaine off the ass of the small army of hookers our $1,000 monthly Patreon check bought us, we could no doubt churn out a whole lot of high quality content in those 2 weeks.

Sadly, the nose has needs (and so does the game), and so the games that dominate the Latest Update tend to be pure Fap games. The gaming equivalent of "Hot Cheerleaders Take Big Black Cock 23". It's just a lot easier to add another scene of a DDD cheerleader taking black cock for no particular reason than it is to make another act of Eternum.

If you look at the update cycles of your favorite games (assuming you have any), you'll find that they're mostly churning out larger updates (1-2 hrs of content, usually), and that their update cycle is from somewhere between 2 months and a year+. So HCTBBC 23 would show up on your Latest Update chart 12 times more than Eternum (which updates ever ~6 months).

Making Eternum (or What a Legend, or Pale Carnations, or... ) is also a lot harder than a pure Fap game, so there's a lot fewer who try (and fewer that succeed), as a result the ratio gets even worse than 12:1.

So how do we solve it? Well, first of all, the Latest Update has the option to sort by upvotes and weighted star ratings; it's worth checking there to see if there's any well-loved games you've been missing out on. You can also check out various Discords, Reddits, and threads here on F95 that deal with specific games or types of games that are loved.

Hope that helps.

Whatever dev decides to make - that is the game content.
I wouldnt make a game for free if I'm not into its quirks and features.

You can vote with your wallet, by supporting devs that make games you like. Or you can make a game yourself and fill the empty spot in the market. BTW I'd be glad for another game with realistic proportions.

That's a good summary.
In fact, I think the hardest part of being a developer is when you run out of cocaine but still have some asses left.
So to finish your asses, you go and get some coke.
But in the end, you've bought too much coke and you manage to finish your asses but still have some cocaine left over.
So you have to go out and buy asses to make up for it.
It's like a never-ending cycle. It's the sad reality of being a developer.
