the release date on steam changed from "dec 15" to "coming soon"?
So what was the general consensus regarding Steam? Like if I don't want to share the fact of this purchase with my friends & family should I just make a separate Steam account?

I know it's kinda embarassing at first. But after I own more than 10+ straight-porn and questionable games on steam. I realize that nobody care if I'm a degenerate.
Everyone is a degenerate to a degree. I don't even care if my best friend have some weird fetish as long as he's not trying to fuck me lol. Even if my dad is my friend on steam, I'm pretty sure he's not gonna care if I own a hentai game. His porn collection is probably bigger than my Steam library.
If you are a minor and don't want your mom to be disappointed in you. I guess just create a new steam account and buy it for once. Or probably buy a steam key and keep the code then download the game on this site I guess. My point is do whatever you can to support the dev please. They deserve our money.

just its weird you complaining about how to get the game on a site where everybody plays eroges and buy and "buy" this kind of games, if you are old enough to have a creditcard (21 in my country) to buy it from steam then its okay to have your porno game there, if not create another account but not make a big deal about it
You can own a game on steam but hiding it from library. I tried it once with a free game frum humble bundle for fun. I can't remeber how I did it. But it rather easy to do though. May be search about its method on Google?
Otherwise create a new account? But I think that's kinda inconvenient to have 2 Steam accounts. If I were you I would buy the game as a gift then send it to your email then download the game here, I guess?
