VN - Ren'Py - Kate [S2 v0.4.2] [WetMelonPlay]

I just love this girl. She's so cute and at the same time SOOOOO sexy! I really like stories seen from the female side. It's more interesting and it's a real turn-on to read about her feelings and the way she gets horny. It's much more exciting than when it's a guy as MC. Then it's just fuck, fuck, fuck without any deeper emotions.
So I give this Dev 5 stars and he has earned it with his story and excellent graphics.

The graphics are great. Character designs fantastic. But season one as of this post is a mess. The dev rearranged a lot of content but didn't fix the dialogue so you get a lot of references to stuff that hasn't happened. Supposedly he is in the process of fixing that so we shall see. Get that fixed and season one would be a 4 star, with more content for season one it could have been 5 stars. It felt rushed. Season two has me done with the game. Its the reason for a 2 star. If it wasnt for the graphics it would be a 1 star. The friends from season one who seemed like great support characters for Kate have been written into the ground. Kira is increasingly becoming shadier with every scene, Lisa just fucked Archie a day after Kate and him went on break after Kate caught him cheating in the act. Meanwhile Kate is still refusing to get dicked down because "archie deserves better". We are in season 2, and the only guy she has fucked, is her shitty boyfriend who isnt even a her boyfriend anymore? It seems the only intent of season 2 is to ruin characters who you grow fond of in season one and to watch Kates life implode around her and to watch her, do what, complain about a bikini 13 years olds where without any issues in our society and yet Kate says "its too revealing"? Hell na. This dev is wack. Whatever he is doing in season two, he needs to second guess the fuck out of it because he is destroying a game that could have been very good.

This one is on the line for me. The first season is a slow burn but doesn't have a story that's good enough for such a rythm. The choices in it matter so little it feels completely railroaded and they seem not to impact at all on season 2. And then on s2 it flips completely, seems everything suddenly moves up to 1000 and characters take a 180º flip on their personalities.

But render quality is pretty decent to be honest. Animations are a bit basic and clumsy but are improving. Sound doesn't add much, a few things are present but meh.

So, all in all, in the line for me. Probably will drop it but maybe will give it a few more updates to make sure.

S2 V.03

There is some things to like about this one, but quite a bit to not like.

Pros.
1. MC is s.okong hot.
2. Some scenarios are decently thought out and hot.

Cons.
1. Game is almost entirely NPC driven. A NPC suggests something and you the player are given a single Yes/No question, and then then entire scene plays like kinetic novel or you get no scene.

2. MC is very bland and boring in most cases. Most of it leads back to first problem I mentioned. Way to many missed chances to add decisions for the player that are just made indirectly by another NPC or over looked entirely. No chance to actually build Kate's character. Some people quote the writing, I think this is what they actually mean. I Would have much rather seen the NPC's take a step back and let me the player as Kate choose how I want play.. bitchy/stubborn attitude, shy/submissive tybe, or just a cheating slut. Lol, but all these decisions are just completely taken our of your hands.

Some Examples:

1. Harry route. Instead of Kate getting to choose how to react to Harry, maybe dumping coffee on his, or just ignoring it, or egging him on.. Instead no decision is given and Archie shows up and just beats the crap out of him. Which now completely makes no sense that we've gone from just one date of being blackmailed into, to a second date and having love fantasies about.

2. Lisa And Kira. Basically both are shameless whores who will just throw themselves at every guy they come into contact with, and Kate is just left watching, going well I guess this is just how people act. I myself would have liked to see a complete 360 degree reversal where Lisa and Kira were a little more normal and Kate being the being the one given the decision to act out and how. Like at the gym with Lisa.. Instead of Lisa doing all the slutty teasing, Kate should have been the one to get to decide how she wants to act, remain loyal, light teasing, or leaning into the whole situation, and then Lisa being the one to kinda question Kate later on her behavior and mentioning Archie.

3. Office with Oscar. At the beginning it was fun learning that there was some competition for the position with Oscar. Once again I was hoping Rose was just kinda of a regular bland character and maybe have the possibility to either legitimately out perform her for the position or play the shy submissive style do anything he wants just to get the postion, or slut herself out to win... but once again, doesn't take long to figure Rose is just a other shameless whore where if Oscar wanted to he could strip her naked, put a collar and leash on her and walk her around the office and show off his little per and she would do it. So now what... Kate's just supposed to out whore the whore. Once again Kate is just in the back seat watching going "Well, I guess that's just how people act."

4. Poker with Alex. The whole thing comes down to witch outfit you choose weather you win or lose. The rest just plays like a KN. Once again Kate should have been given decisions at the game to determine what the outcome was, Does she stop Archie from drinking? Does she Tease the the others to distract them? Does she take the bet for the lower to do whatever the winner says? Does she actually want to win? The whole thing could have been smoking hot and way better, but none of that ever happens.

I could name more but those are just some examples of events where I envisioned more and just didn't get it.

Conclusion:
I can see how the game has many ranging ratings. It's mostly hit yes to see scenes or no to not. If you like the scenes as they are then you'll prolly like the game, but if you're like me and saw so manny more chances for more depth and character building. Then you probably won't be to impressed with it.

Kate is a VN featuring a very pretty girl named Kate, her boyfriend Archie, and a supporting cast of characters interested in corrupting or otherwise utilizing her to their own ends.

The game is extremely pretty, both the characters and the environments. Absolutely no complaints in that regard. The animations are fairly short and a little awkward to navigate around given how they're linked with the text, but still a positive.

The story and characters are rather lacking however. While the story might be about Kate, she has very little agency despite being the protagonist. There is a hidden corruption stat that locks or unlocks certain story options, but the overall path of the story is set in stone, or at least part one is. While not innately awful, it's more than a little annoying because of the illusion of choice. There are a lot of big choices that should change things and don't.

And even beyond the choices themselves, Kate has little in the way of agency. Throughout the story, Kate is constantly and consistently acted upon, never the actor herself. While Kate might choose how she reacts to other characters, choosing her own fate is completely beyond her. Her job wants to put her in a maid outfit, her friends want to go to the beach, Archie wants to go to poker night, her boss wants her to attend a dinner party; notice how all these actions follow the desires of other characters and not Kate. The only time we see what Kate wants in this story is through her thoughts, never her actions. The story would be greatly improved if Kate were progressing towards a goal or vision of her choosing rather than those around her.

There are some strong scenes in the story, particularly of the sexy variety, but they frequently feel like unrelated one shots rather than an over arching plot. While having a sporadic beach trip or vacation is fine, I feel like the game stretched unnecessarily when it gave Kate two jobs with two different storylines rather than focusing entirely on one. It would have made everything feel more cohesive.

Overall, Kate is a very well presented game that lacks the story and characters to really take it to the next level. While the art and some of the scenes are very worthwhile, there is a whole lot of mainly tedious story to work your way through to get to them. Nevertheless, the game is really pretty enough to make your efforts worthwhile.

One of the best female protagonist games out there!Great renders, I like the scenario and Kate’s choices are always realistic. The last scene of the first season is a masterpiece! I am looking forward for season 2! Well done!

Absolutely shocking, the game fell off a cliff this season. Pointless writing, no direction in the plot, horrible lewd scenes and to top it off less and less content. No point of playing a Kinetic Novel portrayed as a VN.

beautiful characters and 3D graphics. Good story, I especially like that there are swingers here. There are few games like this where both the graphics and the plot are at a high level. There are also animations, which is also nice. I like it, I'm waiting for the update.

The renders are decent and over all it is not that bad.

During S1 it felt quite nice, but choices seem to be disconnected to the story and that became evident with S2. Your choices dont matter at all. The story is linear and you only get short term "consequences". So you have no impact at all and that is a no go for me. I dont like kinetic novels for that reason and this doesnt feel that different.

For ppl that dont care about choices ... add 1-1,5 stars.

Kate is a promising female MC corruption game, and it was better than I had initially thought based on previous reviews and my own experience in the early stages of the game.

Now, one thing many people have criticized is the writing. To me personally, writing is one of the most important aspects of a VN, and while it has it's weak moments, I gotta say the further you make it into the game, the better the writing gets. I'm not sure if this is due to a revision in a more recent patch, as some users mentioned that it's gotten better, but yeah. It is definitely not as bad as I thought, especially later on.

For the story, well, here basically goes the exact same thing. For the first ~30-40mins, I really had to force myself to keep going because it was rather boring, but it did get alot better to a point where I didn't want to stop playing. The story itself may not be the most original thing in the world, but the developer manages to come up with quite nice/hot scenes and solid ideas for the different routes. Basically, you'll get to experience new things rather than doing the same stuff over and over again. Sure, there are the usual office, waitress and maid routes, but there is way more beyond that, which becomes more obvious the further you go. It's not re-inventing the wheel, but I quite like it.

The graphics. Again, same thing as the previous two paragraphs. To make it short; It starts off with mediocre renders and ends with top-notch high quality renders. That's one reason as to why I'm really hyped for a new release. You can literally see the improvements as you play through the game, and the dev has gotten really good at creating art.

All in all, this is a 4-star game for me. It has some flaws, but it's got huge potential, and I found myself having more and more fun the further I got into the game.

Keep it up, dev! You are on the right track.

The story is, frankly speaking, boring. The writer certainly didn't bother enough to create anything unique. Just a usual story about slow and gradual corruption of a female MC. Which is rather rare nowadays, to be honest. They usually go from total innocence to the city biggest slut in a matter of a few in-game minutes. Still, the story can't be called interesting.

The renders are good, even very good sometimes. Characters look rather unique and memorable, Kira is my personal favourite.

The reason I gave this game a 4/5 is the fact that the developer is actually doing their job, I stumbled upon the game a long time ago and it was a total mess. There were plot holes all over the place, as if some parts of the game were omitted or removed for some reason. The writing was a total disaster as well, the game was either translated from some language by a total amateur or even auto-translated. Now, it's obviously written by someone who actually knows the language.

Overall, a mediocre game but the degree of changes in development is admirable. Keep it up!

I think this game looks fairly decent and has some scenes I enjoyed.
But sadly, that´s pretty much it. The Story is nothing to write home about.
The plot feels way too copied and pasted, and reminds me of dozen other games.
The writing is pretty poor and you lose connection to the story pretty quickly.
I´m not sure if it´s a bug or bad game design, but I had to repeat certain scenes, like the massage scene, multiple times to get ahead.
There were at least 5-6 image errors, and if you choose to skip, you won´t see the dialogues.
To me, the game feels too uninspired and uninteresting.

Great game so far... wish the sex scenes were a little bit longer. Kate is the sexiest character of any game I've played, in my opinion. Looking forward to see how her story unfolds. The innocent sweetheart that she is along with her curiosity and craving for more experiences will make for a interesting adventure.

One of the better female protag games out there. The english isnt the best but its certainly understandable and the slow corruption of Kate is just getting better and better. I highly recommend it for people that love the genre of slow corruption.

Not sure why its only got 3.3 average I guess a few mistakes in an unfinished *free*game are too much for some people...its a solid corruption game, or will be when finished. The Art is good and the writing is a lot better than some of the higher rated games on F95 imho. Kate is beautiful as as well and Kira. Thumbs up from me I'll be watching this. 4 out of 5...we need more like this please.

copied story, barely any choices, flawed to terrible english, nonsensical towards the end. Has some potential but it needs some more effort.

It seemed to have good potential at first, because i like that kind of female mc corruption/cheating story and the main character looks great, but honestly it's not worth playing in it's current state.

The story is mostly copied from Anna: Exciting Affection, which is not entirely bad, but it's hard to tell if the dev is capable of making something good on his own.

The story gives you barely any choices, it's mostly kinetic. The writing won't win any prices, there are quite a few empty phrases and repetition, though rarely any big irrelevant paragraphs like in lots of other VNs, so i would say it's about average.
The english on the other hand is bad. There are lots of mistakes. For the most part it's still easy to understand, but it can get annoying. Towards the end of this version, it gets worse.

The story gets worse towards the end too. It does get more original and i like the idea of a lot, but it also feels like there is a time skip or some missing scenes, as characters reference stuff that didn't happen and the relationship between the bf and one of his coworkers just seems to be bad because the dev wants it to be (show, don't tell!)

So far, everything is great, though, I would like, more erotic content (H-Scenes), I hope that they will appear soon.
You have a great game, only remains to improve it. If you think about the concept of sandbox, I think you get only one pluses.
1) Repetitive H-Scenes, you can go to maximum, satisfying many preferences of the players - Old Men, Incest, young boys (schoolboy), drunks, gangsters, dark alleys, beach, solicitation in the subway / bus / park / cafe, glory hole, showers in the gym, cleaning house, babysitting.
2) Development of relations with the character of interest to get points for the opening of new H-Scenes (this is an erotic game, and we are all here for that , dating, movies, cafes / restaurants, walks in the park. You can collect scenes from these places and just change the characters and dialogue with them, this will expand the content and give extra time to develop something else.

+ A certain grind for the development of relationships (the main thing to keep the line), it will allow players to linger in the game a little longer than the classic version with 200-300 pictures. You'll have more time to develop new versions of the game.

The premise is solid, the renders are decent, the animations are definitely on the weak side... but what kills this game is the absolute ton of unnecessary dialogue. There's just sooo many meaningless conversations that lag on forever that it quickly becomes painful to try and read everything.

When you stop really reading and just click like a madman to try and find something more interesting, you'll really be blown away about how little there is to actually see in this game.

The female MC with a corruption twist is exactly my genera, but the writing makes this game borderline unplayable.

The game starts being good even if the plot being washed and used over many games but it's still attractive for a porn game, renders are good sex scenes are meeh, corruption is not bad, but once you reach a certain point in the game the text becomes gibberish, like a japanese game MTL peotry, sentences are not making any scenes and character sometimes talk about events you never seen, its a complete mess, i dropped the game midways since i can't follow the story anymore and it became incoherent gibberish.
I think all the good reviews were coming from the earlier versions where only the "good" lines were available, as i said once you pass them the game is unplayable (unreadable since there isn't gameplay to begin with).
My advice for the dev is to get a proper translator or a story writer that speak fluent english, VN have no game play only erotic scenes and story to follow. If the story isn't making any sense then what's the point at looking at silly mid quality porn 3d renders.

Render are good, the character is looking good....

but the whole story is just tedious, impossible to follow, reading the dialogues gives you the impression of wasting your time.

Sex scenes sometime are a pure checkbox exercise, again no soul, no building up sexual tension.

Problem is easy to resolve: Dev should hire a story writer or copying like for like a success porn movie with plot (Italian/French).

The dev's talent is creating good renders, but clearly not telling a story or representing good quality sex scenes.
