I have played a number of lewd games that have done their best to balance lewds and gameplay, and the fact that developers now seem to be actively trying to make a porn game, rather than just a game, or porn with game elements, has been incredibly refreshing.
Mystic Warrior Maya, the old Forest of the Blue Skin, Changed, Packed Rat, Monster Girls You-Kichan, Rignattas Adventure, Kinky Dungeon, EDEN, Flip Witch, L Depth, Magical Girl Luna, Seal of Lutellaria all come to mind, and this is just ones i remember playing in the last couple years.

And thats just games that are out, games like damselvania, moncurse, kinkaid, deep in brixen space(dibs), both zelles horror game, and the remaster of forest of the blueskin also look incredibly promising, as well as the remaster of Changed which is deff got me hyped.

Some have good art, some have okay art, and some have barely any art at all (in fact the game that proved that porn games could make bank, Corruption of Champions, didnt have any art, as it was entirely a text adventure.)
There is nothing wrong with making a porn game with the emphasis on game. But most of those games you've listed all have great gameplay AND art (or animation), they're in the thinnest sliver of margins that succeed at their namesake with months or even a year or more between their releases. But obviously are worth the wait or surprise like Setaria, Lutellaria's previous title that just sprung up suddenly and blew the competition away.
The others like CoC are unusual exceptions that will likely never replicate their success again. I don't trust other devs to capture the spirit of CoC because text-based games have a new problem: requiring good writing which is even rarer than good art. Some nsfw devs can just about write a sentence without spelling mistakes, and fewer still know better than to inflict their god-awful dialogue upon us.

As for games like Packed Rat, I don't judge if you like that sort of content but for me it's just one big niche I have no interest in. The game can be as good as it likes, but fetishes that are capable of turning away many people with little to no standard sexual content compensating serve to gum up a title's success in a whole new way. Still though I'd sooner play through packed rat if I avoided all the scenes rather than something that takes things too far like Mad Island. Which is a very depthful game with tons of variety but just goes, eh... too far with things.

But yeah sure, some nsfw games can have okay art or no art at all and still be decent games. But for me they're usually not worth playing because there tends to be a catch people cover in the thread's comments or reviews. Generally it's the art/animation looking bad or awkward, sometimes it's rarely something else. Listen... ultimately I'm playing these for the porn, not for a wholesome gaming experience, so if a game sucks to play but has good porn generally easily to obtain I'll still give it a passing grade, if it happens to have good gameplay as well I will give it 5 stars and declare it a necessity to play.

I do not have the time or patience to scrutinise every title's gameplay details for a market that's 99.9% RPGMaker and RenPy slop, so if I can call something out as bad and kick it aside I will do so to save some time. Maybe it's not the fairest thing to do but I'm not here to be the best porn game reviewer, I'm here to mark off the things I don't care for so I don't have to run into them again.

I think i misunderstood your angle xD I thought you were basically saying that porn games with bad art could never succeed as a game because they dont have good art, rather than them just failing because they have bad porn P:
My angle is a little different, and i think i can blame my adhd for it. If im playing a porn game, i want it to be a good game, which has been nearly impossible to find 15-20 years ago; because you either had overtuned impossibly hard boaredline kaizo games that were supposed to be porn, or they were barely a game at all and more just an interactive thing. So thats usually where my main focus is. 'is it a good game, does it have good balance, is it irritating to play' If im playing a porn game, i want it to be treated as a game ya know? why play a game if its not a game or boring/frustrating to play? :p But yeah good writing and good art definitely help in the fap value.

And yeah, i will 100% admit that packed rat is definitely for a niche audience, which i think in a way is tragic because the design itself is brilliant in execution. Making it so that grapples deal damage, and making it so that the damage is handled like ghosts and goblins makes for a surprisingly excellent and oddly balanced system, and itd be really neat if more devs used this, instead of the traditional escape the grapple mechanics that the east introduced.
