Hello guys,

I would like to create my own game (not for business but just for fun...) and I heard something about Koikatu (chara studio).
Have admit that I don't have any great knowledge regarding modding or in developing games.... but seems like that with this editor it's pretty simple... is it stand alone or need to use a proper engine like unity etc?
How does it works? Where I can find it?

Thank you in advance

Never even heard of it before. But a quick google search shows quite a few results, there is also a patreon that has mods, etc for it

Hi, I'm quite a Koikatu fan (fan of the Koikatu games in this forum, not so much of the original game) and I am currently doing my own game (I did a little preview here)

I used DAZ before and it is waay easier to use than DAZ as a regular engine but it will (probably) took you some time to be able to create a decent picture at the beggining to the point it could be frustrating. I never tried Honey Select which is by far the most used overall (both Koikatu and Honey Select are created by the same company, Illusion) so I can't compare them about which one is better or easier to use, but if you like Koikatu style I would totally recommend you go for it.

Koikatu and Chara Studio is just to get the picture you want, exaclty like DAZ, it will be up to you to decide if you want to work with Ren'Py, RPGM, Unity, etc. Just having Koikatu won't be enough to do a game, you will have to learn the proper codding too.

You can get the game here in the forum (it's kinda heavy, like more than 12GB if I remember correctly) which I think it contains all the DLC's (not sure on that) and if you are still interested on the game, PM and I will give you a link for a discord channel where you can find more things like characters, scenes, clothes, overlays, etc.

Also, here I try to keep track of every game done with Koikatu, if you are interested.

Personally, as you probably already realized, I think Koikatu style is not just beautifull, I think it would be the future and it would be as frecuently for games as Honey Select or DAZ and I am very happy to see new people showing interest.
