Yeah. In the last game, we sniffed a guy's crotch while they were magically sleeping and couldn't wake up. This time, we're catfishing that same person, inviting a stranger into our best friend's home without their knowledge and cucking them while we're at it. Many of the sex scenes are very rapey in the first game (or is just straight up rape). The worst Kuugo does this time is the catfishing and cucking. I don't know what it is about Japanese VNs and their fetish for non-con sex scenes. At the very least the shota got removed.

To be honest, all of his friends are kinda awful themselves. Gou is a dumb idiot who won't do what's needed to save his restaurant and relies on his friends to help him out, Yamato poisoned the fella because Gou wouldn't hear him out, Yuujirou outed Sousuke to stop him from hooking up with his crush, Rai keeps peeing, and Sousuke is the reason Kuugo is in the village to begin with. He made the wish to see him again, and Kuugo is fine with it because he just so happened to be miserable before going to the village, so he never really gets punished for it (although he does get cucked in the second game). But the fountain always brings misfortune in return. When a person makes a wish someone else gets screwed over. Who got screwed over when Sousuke made his wish? And the misfortune only ends if they regret making the wish and we don't know if destroying the fountain fixed it. As far as I know Sousuke never does regret wishing Kuugo to come so maybe the wish is still in effect, so maybe Kuugo isn't actually in control of his choices, or maybe that's why Sousuke keeps getting cucked until the next game!

Anyways, the original game was released 2014 so it still carries the themes and cliches of early 2000's porn. And as far as I know its still the same story in the remake. Did the writing get touched up here and there? Maybe. The story is still pretty interesting.

Normally if the game is released outside of Japan, Most devs will do uncensored version no matter if they are Japanese.
If the dev ain't doing a "Global Uncensored Version", it indicates they simply don't care.

There are mainly 3 reasons for censored porn in a porn game:
1. This is exclusive to Japan, They have laws require such censorship in any form of their porn media. It's some sort of legacy law as a result of their own culture wars. Thus even in Japan nowadays some 'censor' is just tokenized you can still see the goods.
There's no reason for Japanese dev to put censor bar in the GL release. Like this game, Not sure what does the R18 patch even does, maybe it's the Case 3 listed below?

2. Many game censored the porn for the "cheaper / free version" so to better sell the "full version". In this case it's not dumb at all

3. Some region / countries porn as a whole is censored / forbidden. So a global platform might hv censored version, But in this case the censor is removing the porn part all together.

All accurate. This is also why we see a big change in characters when looking at knights college. In game 3 they tried to redeem some characters like yamato but cuck characters like Sousuke because he tries to guilt you into being with him if you select any other characters for the final romance option like Rai.
