    Las Gorditas 2 [Final] [SpicyDesu]

    English Review

Okay, so obviously this is a sequel to the first game, and that means that it is significantly more ambitious. There's definitely a lot added, and while you could argue that not a lot of what it added was really that great, it did certainly add a lot. The first game was a very short visual novel where there was one gameplay element/missable scene (two if you count the first game soft-locking you for not smoking weed) where you were asked to remember something, and then 2 seconds later, you were asked what it was. For the sequel game, they’ve doubled the gameplay! Which means now, instead of being asked to remember something for 2 seconds, you get asked to remember something, and then you get an entire scene, and then you get asked to remember what it was. So it's hypothetically possible that some people have genuinely messed this one up instead of doing it out of curiosity. (Once again, giving the wrong answer doesn't mean you get any new scenes or anything, it just means you don't get the associated sex scene.) This happens twice! We also have diverging paths for the very first time! Which is to say that on your day off, you have the option to help Carnitas, and if you do, you get a sex scene with her. If you don't, instead, you get a sex scene with Fajitas and one of the annoying characters gets car bombed, so there's an actual choice as to whether or not you would prefer to have sex with the better fish taco sister or whether you want to have sex with the worse fish taco sister, but an annoying side character also dies. As for the actual story and content, I will say that this is one of the first games on here to make me feel genuinely old, so that's cool. For the actual plot, I would say that it's extremely meme-oriented if that makes sense. If that sounds up your alley, it's probably perfect for you. If that sounds kind of like a slog, you will not enjoy it. This means that the actual plot of the game is based mostly on subversions and characters who are annoying who are meant to be annoying. For example, the opening of the game is Miso getting arrested for mysterious reasons and everyone is super upset and also the cartel starts demanding money so you're clearly at a very very low moment and it's very dramatic and you seem to be in deep trouble with no way out, and then to start the next chapter they reveal, “Actually it was just for shoplifting and she just had to pay the $5 and also the cartel have decided to leave us alone because Kimchi prayed to Goku”. So the joke is the swerve. This is interrupted by iconic characters like El Farto (He's like a Bart Simpson silhouette but like gross perverted weeb and the game constantly comments on how unpleasant he is to talk to because he is unpleasant to talk to but I don't think that being self aware of that makes me any happier), the ugly prostitute with the bad personality, and the obnoxious guy that shows up to fish tacos stand to ask for cheeseburgers and then calls you gay and then it turns out his entire personality is asking for incorrect items at food trucks. There's a guy who ruined his entire life by shitting himself, and you get to help him get a massive penis by answering one question correctly or incorrectly. It doesn’t matter; things just happen. You also run into Natto (He was your government handler for the last game which is why you started working at the Taco Stand, because allegedly Miso was selling drugs and that was important enough to put an undercover agent in but then you never did any undercover cop stuff and quit immediately and I'm pretty sure that Miso just smokes sometimes and that's about it. I don't know why this warranted a massive undercover operation.) Anyway, he says that you quitting ruined his life, and then he threatens you and he isn't even drawn intentionally ugly so you know he's serious and not just a meme and then to start the next chapter he's apparently told all of the girls that you're a Fed and they're all devastated and betrayed and ask you to leave and not come back and then you get a sad walk through the rain until you get told by the fish taco lady that you should just go back and apologize to them (Again I don't think that you really did anything. Like what are you apologizing for? You did zero undercover work you just worked for them and immediately quit your job as a Fed). And then in the second dramatic fake out of the game, it's revealed that none of them actually care that much, and you're totally fine, yay! The joke is the swerve. It's a meme game. I don't know what to tell you. There is something rather charming about it, but I will also say not exactly my cup of tea.

As for the content and characters, there are now six girls, and the biggest issue is that I don't think that the game focuses very much on any of them. In the first game, the three women had pretty basic personalities, and that stays the same here. Kimchi is the nice golden retriever one with a bubbly personality that you end up sort of dating. Miso is the lazy stoner who constantly dips and shirks her work responsibilities. Kombucha is the loving and kind mother character who wants sex sometimes. As for the new fish taco stand characters: Carnitas is the nice golden retriever one with a bubbly personality that was fat once and was besties with Kimchi. Fajitas is the lazy stoner who constantly dips and shirks her work responsibilities. And Horchata is the STRICT and IMTIMIDATING mother character who wants sex sometimes. Horchata gets the most focus and is the most different character, but again, only one scene each, and that’s it, six in total. Like obviously, it would be nice if each girl got two or three scenes, but really, there's one scene for each of them. It very much leaves you wanting more. Overall, I still think the art is good, and if a meme Mexican food truck game sounds like something you would enjoy, then you're definitely going to enjoy it. Just turn your brain off for a little bit, and you'll have a good time with it. Either that or use the skip function for everything except the sex scenes, and you should be okay.

Realmente no saqué todas mis opiniones.

Really charming writing and humor, like the kind that will genuinely make you laugh out loud. The dialogue is engaging and fun. The use of Spanglish and the references make the setting feel very auténtico~

I think the art speaks for itself, its fucking great. Super expressive, unique, and sexy!

If you like fat titty latinas and lighthearted, straightforward gameplay give this game a shot, you won't regret it! ^_^

Be sure to checkout the first game as well!
