RPGM - Completed - Lateshifter [v1.2a] [Oko]

Simply worth playing for the branching paths alone if not for the oppressive dystopic Blade Runner vibes. A friend told me about this game and I have been obsessed with it and the creator's works since then. I don't play a lot of adult games, or refer them out, but when I do it is THIS game. The only downside is the simplistic art, I feel if Oko had a reliable artist for CGs he would have been making big bucks on Patreon (before their rules changed).

The game allows you to attack the story from all angles, even if it makes no logical sense it still manages to function properly. I can imagine this attention to detail is the reason why Oko didn't manage to complete most of his ideas, nonetheless an inspiration that went further beyond most tech demos. It isn't perfect, but it has a structure, and it has a complete self-contained story. To have seen what this title and his others could have become would have been unprecedented, but for what it is, it is excellent in my book.

I wasn't too excited by the screenshots or description but I gave it a shot due to the reviews and I'm glad I did. Incredible passion project which creates an immersive experience that is rare in porn games. While the gameplay isn't perfect the game is overall a gem that deserves to be discovered by more people.

Love the art, sound and concept. Note that the 2 version posted (v1.2a demo & v1.0.4) are entirely separate "games".

The game(s) feel a bit more like proof of concept/demo than a full fletched game. You do have choices and trying out different paths is highly encouraged. The writing is very good and the style & atmosphere are unique. None of that generic stuff, so kudos for that. Wished it was longer with more content, feels like a high caliber project that got abandoned. Still, I enjoyed it for what it is.

A well-executed game. It's very incomplete at the moment, but there's signs that it has potential. There doesn't seem to be any porn that isn't rape, which is a big downside for me. All of the women characters look distinctly sad and displeased. If you're into it, then fine, but it was a big drawback for me. I hope they can include some more variety in the future. However, there's many branching paths, so it's possible I just missed some.

Wasn't expecting much for some reason and boy, was I wrong. I mean if you just expect to fap non stop to a typical porn game, you will probably be disapointed, but if you actually want to take the time to play this game (fap or not) I garanty you will have a good time.

I spent way too much time looking for quality porn games that, yes contains great porn in it, but most importantly, have a great playability, not just a cliking fest like most novel type games. Not that there is anything wrong with them if done correctly, it's just that I get used to them pretty fast. You can really see that a lot of effort was put into it and it's crazy how he manage to make you dive in the story with absolutly great dialogue and music.

I really wish I discovered the game when it was being made so I would have been able to maybe support it and hope for a longer gameplay and more characters. I just played his other game StarKnave and just started Stellinavra and wasn't disapointed there either.

I highly suggest this guy work and really hope he can devellop his passion to the fullest, because with this quality, his future in game and music developpment clearly seems promising!

Best writing and theme for an H-game I've encountered.

The writing is not heavy handed and is by an amazing writer, one that could actually make money selling books or writing for games.

It pokes at your soul, makes you think about life, without being ridiculous about it. The story works in a lot of gray space and ambiguity, just like life.

The art is very pixelated but looks good, so that has to be your thing if you want a good fap. But you could honestly just play this for the story and enjoy it all the same.

Certainly not the porniest game here, but it's a better experience than it has any right to be. Sets a mood, and does it with style. The story is excellent. The music is fantastic. The world creation is amazing. I still think about this one years later.

The story is perfecly good and short but the buttons are a little wonky (q-w for example) but you (I don't think) you need to use them at all.
Looking forward the nexts works of this dev, even if it takes a lot of time to make, the wait will be worth it.

Excellent ambiance, giving a brief but real neon cyberpunk feel. The hopeless, faceless existence of people in a cold corporate world striving for hope, love, freedom and sex. I really enjoyed the game, despite its brevity. Characters have motivations and choices mean something in the game. Rotoscoped scenes and simple but enjoyable player movement and mini-games make this a fun, if short experience. Definitely enjoyable for its writing, which often lacks in adult games. Great work.

This is a great game.

You know, actual game, author could (maybe did) try to make an indie adventure game with a decent story probably. As for the content, little short but nice atmosphere, nice characters, great scenes and mechanics.

My only problem, little too forced emotional stuff. Let's be real, we are playing these games to jerk off, not to read a long story. Too much dialogue could hurt especially when author tries to make a story about deep stuff like love and pain. Don't get me wrong, "love" story in this game isn't impactful at all, it is too forced, non realistic so it didn't affect my uhm, session at all. Still, author could focus on different kind of stories instead of these serious ones.

Ofcourse that's the choice of author still that's my opinion anyways.

Wow! Where did this game even come from and why didn't I hear about it until now?

F95 needs to stop pushing the same shit and make sure gems like this get some attention because this game is FANTASTIC. If you are a fan of good writing and stories paired with steady doses of filth, all wrapped up into a retro-styled pixel art shell, Lateshifter is definitely for you. I've only gotten through one of the endings (Helping Estella all the way through) but damn, I can't wait to try the other paths.

I'm seriously blown away here. My only con at this point was that I wish the story wouldn't have ended! And wanting more is rarely a bad thing. Without putting any spoilers out there because you really should experience this for yourself, Lateshifter is dark and gritty, transporting you into an awesomely dark dystopian world with an awesome artstyle to back it up. Seriously, if you like a good story and good writing matters to you as much as it does to me...you need to try this one out. Grab some coffee, grab some lube, make sure your significant other is sleeping and lock the door behind you.

I'm gonna be looking at this dev's other game too, Star Knave , and watching his patreon. Out-fucking-standing.

Quite simply one of the most well-crafted porn games I've ever played.

To begin with, many praise the art, music, and style of the game and this review is no exception. The roto-scoped animations, or the appearence thereof, for the main bulk of each sex scene is unique and very pleasing.

The music has been stuck in my head for months and I'm happy to have it there. The 8-bit aesthetic is executed flawlessly and works on most if not every level. There's even some small before/after animations of a sexual nature rendered in 8-bit that some way, some how work very well.

One of the most important parts in my opinion is the plot/dialogue. This too receives much praise and it's undoubtedly deserved. What it means to be living and conscious, what it means to be human - these topics are explored to a moderate extent in Chapter 1 and make you think.

Other ponderous topics are covered as well. Morality, difficult choices, right and wrong. There are a few main outcomes with several variations. You decide how you handle sexual affairs as well as the trust and relationships between conflicting parties (one of which is yourself).

All in all, not bad for a somewhat short main experience. 1 hour will get you through a primary path, another hour or two for a full dive. I honestly can't get enough, and I hope the author finds the time and the will to pick it up again.

Beautifull meaningfull story, told with such a clarity that is unrivalled in adult-games, while still providing plentifull nudity and impactfull choices.

You are a freelancer in a Blade Runner'esque world. Tonight you will meet an android, who is capable of much more than her what she was built for. She craves for the kind of meaning and freedom her androids shouldn't hope for.
Shouldn't they?

Enriched by a dismal artstyle Lateshifter manages to build a very atmospheric, almost dystopian experience. Scenes are levated by small touches, like an animating how the wind plays with her hair (beautifull symbolism). This game knows when to show and when to tell.

Played partly like a visual novel, partly like an rpg-maker game and partly a unique minigame exclusively played during the "work-phases". Repetetive and without any "touchable" effects it supports the main themes like the utter insigificance and the monotony the main characters have to cope with. The auto-adjusting difficulty and a high-score system prevent it from becoming a tedious chore. The gameplay stays simple, original,"good enough" and is most importantly used as a narrative tool.

Maybe even more astounding than Lateshifter's story and its beautifull animations is its coherence, meaning the way the art, leveldesign, gameplay, and story meshes to deliver a thoughtfull albeit pornographic experience.

Lateshifter is game developed by Oko set in a dystopian sci-fi future where corporations rule and the common people are just cogs in a machine. You play through different scenarios in this world as a male character going about his day at work. While the work is monotonous, things can heat up with his fellow co-workers during the night-shift when most people have gone home.

The setting is immersive with amazing pixel art of buildings that reach the sky and neon signs. The sound design is exquisite and fits the game like a tailored fit suit. Every action sounds responsive and carries some weight. Characters are fleshed out with well-written dialogue giving them each a personality.

The sex scenes are pixel animation that are drawn with a realistic style. They are very smooth and the sounds matches the movements perfectly.

This is a game. Rather than just grinding out stats or going through the motions to get to the next sex scene, you make choices that affect your surroundings in a world that feels alive. There is only 1 scenario right now, but I am excited to see what new content Oko will bring in the future.
