tldr If you have nothing else to do, it works. It's not bad, but it's not good or memorable either. Expect your suspension of disbelief to work in overdrive.
I think the main problem is, it seems to be inspired by BaDIK, which is outdated in terms of writing and invented most of the bad design decisions present here. Also, drama for the sake of drama.

The bad
A lot of pointless writing/conversations/drama
Pointless back and forth conversations that give you a lot of details but ultimately don't lead anywhere. Same with conflicts.
Pointless writing would be constant "Ahaha", "You're my best friend"(Multiple variations), repeating of what the other character said without adding anything else of value, inner thoughts, whatever bullshit MC passes as "Charisma" that works because it needs to work.
Too many LI's/LI's aren't developed enough to hold on their own
Harem stories have multiple LI's because with only one LI it would be obvious that their writing is shallow. Harem tag is absent, this problem is present.
Morale system designed to waste your time/Create illusion of choice
So, there are 9 LI's, 3 universal and 2 for each of the routes, when the choice is made, we either flip a boolean/switch, or get +1/-1 to altruistic/selfish, which determines the route.
+1/-1 are here to flip altruistic/selfish switch, but otherwise do not do anything, switches are the only important thing in this system, as it's how the game remembers the choices made.
There is also affection +1/-1, but I've seen only one check of that (S1. S2 is a different story).
Every other game works like this, so where is the problem.
Most of the switches are not triggered. So a choice changes some lines of dialogue in current conversation, then the game will remember the choice made, but this choice won't ever come up again in most cases.
Then there are routes. The story is linear, despite there being routes. You can trigger all conversations with all of the LI's, no matter which route you take. The game will simply check if you're on a route for current girl, then, if you're not, skip their scene. It doesn't check the choices you've made, it only checks your route.
That being said, some choices do make a difference, but they are in overwhelming minority and most of them change only a few lines of dialogue.
The phone mechanic/minigame
Invention of this mechanic should be considered a crime against humanity at this point.
Law is the core plot-point, yet it's not explored
Laws in the Ace Attorney series were simplified for the sake of the story, it wasn't a copy-paste of Wikipedia just for the sake of it. Where is the story, and why are those segments skippable?
Why was this setting used at all, if there is nothing to tell.
The main point of having setting in college/university as first-year is, in the first year there is mostly general education, and not specifics of wanted degree, so you can avoid writing about it.
World-building is crumbling with every chapter
We're in USA, but it's USA only in name, as there are a lot of missing plot-points(Religion, Racism, Right to keep/bear arms, History of the country in general) which make it a fantasy-world. I'll mention only the most jarring problem, but there are a lot of others.
USA, school/college/whatever grounds, protagonist is attacked by a man in balaclava, suffers heavy injuries. We're at the point, where use of deadly force is allowed in self-defense. So, how is this conflict resolved.
The school makes a "Court" game, where their employees decide who was in the right (Educational Institution has no authority to do any of that), the attacker was found guilty of aggravated assault, and with words "Bad boy" was left scot-free. Aggravated assault is a felony and can lead to imprisonment.
I guess police simply doesn't exist in this world.
Also, America and "This institution has never seen such violence", good joke.

The good
Character writing
Diverse and well-written motivations/thought processes, but they're crippled by the fact, that most of the text here is to serve as padding, and not to explore/develop them further.
Renders/Visuals
Self-explanatory
//
I believe that pointless padding removed and character writing more developed would rise it to 4/5 on its own, but it's too late for that, and as it is, too many negatives weigh it down.
Considering that S2 doesn't fix the mistakes of S1, I don't expect it to get any better.
