On the other hand, Otoha slander needs to stop. She did some dumb shit but nothing too damning, middle of the road on the "bad person" scale really
I feel like she gets hate because her "crimes" are so mundane. Kirin and Nodoka's blackmail schemes are cartoonishly cruel and early game Yumi is a walking trope, so it's easy to write what they pull off as just stuff fictional characters do. But jumping into a relationship you don't care about, being controlling and abusive over it, while secretly pining after someone else? That's just normal shitty teen behavior. And she doesn't have some overdramatic backstory justifying it. So it feels more real, and therefore worse.

Otoha stocks might go up now that she's not wrapped up in her relationship with Rin.

I feel like we missed out on a crucial part of her character because she was so tied to Rin from the get go. Now we can finally meet the dashing Otoha she supposedly always was.

Or things will just continue to get worse because that's a thing this game likes to do

I'm never forgiving Otoha and her only redeemable feature for me is her ass. That's what we call everlasting bias, I'm dying on this hill.

I particularly dislike that Selebus has her sexually assault Niki right as she's getting into her relationship with Akira again (and although it isn't straight up "cheating" since Niki was clearly assaulted, it was not pleasant to watch the first time, nor her entire arc refusing to listen to Niki saying no - even Akira is more respectful to Yumi after he assaults her), then years later she steals the violin scene with Maya from Akira as well, and is disgustingly flirty about it.

First Niki, then Maya. Next we'll find out that her deal with Sekai poetry is that she was her first crush or something. It's like Selebus keeps pushing her onto Akira's real girlfriends/actual partners.

My problem with Otoha was never mainly related to Rin, that was just the final verdict.

Stealing the violin scene is obviously an unfair thing to hate her for.

The Niki kiss was wrong but in the scope of this game, isn't even a highlight. She got caught up in the moment, misread things, and gave into her emotions. She admitted as much and apologized then wanted an honest conversation about it which Niki was right to deny. Molly had a similar incident but no one ever talks negatively about her and she definitely didn't handle the fallout better. And what do you mean Akira is more respectful about his assualt on Yumi? He brings up the fact they kissed all the time.

Otoha is not a great person but I agree with MaoKamui that she's definitely not an outlier. Otoha's crimes are laughable compared to Kirin, Nodoka, Akira, and Yumi.

I mean, to call a bias "unfair" is redundant. That's exactly what a bias is. I call it a bias in the first line so that there's no doubt that this is particular to me, and not a balanced view on the character (as I often present here).

You're fine. You can hate anyone you want for whatever reason. I'll still use it as an excuse for discussion. Even if I disagree with the reasons, your opinion is still valid. But I never said it was "obviously wrong". I said it was unfair. Which I stand by and think you would agree with.

I am, however going to say you are dead wrong about Akira being more respectful. Half of Yumi's dialogue is basically telling him to go away. Even if you think she's secretly a tsundere that needs help, Akira's disregard for her wishes is very not okay.

I managed to read the house image that pops up at the end of "Transpacific Sadness Symposium II: SISTER SOFTSKIN". And let me tell you, it was not worth the 3 hours that it took.
(Please tell me everyone else found it impossible to read and it was not just me being dumb.)

Anyway, respectfully, I'm done talking about Otoha. The whole point of declaring it a bias was to not have to justify it, but I thought it would be impolite of me not to address your replies (since it was started with your post). If this topic moves forward it will be with other people.

It's more than semantics. It's respecting what I said and not turning it into something else.

I think it's unfair to hate someone for something outside of their control. That's all I meant by that.

You replied to me with your opposing perspective. I replied back with mine. Genuinely, was I wrong in how I responded?

So, something that has seemed set up for a while, was recently brought to mind: Chika vs Noriko.

It seems to be something that has been foreshadowed since before the 3rd Reset:

With Noriko befriending Yumi, Chika blessing their marriage:

And Chika's friendship with Yumi being shaky at the moment... Any thoughts on how this love triangle drama with Sensei's heart, and Yumi's friendship, in the middle of it all, might go?

Look, I'm no paragon for people to follow nor am I in a position to lecture people on how to have a conversation.

All of these are, in my view, not conductive to a healthy conversation - as they come off either as an attack or being dismissive. I speak only for myself however, and, ultimately, I could have simply stopped replying. Which I should have done.

I think it's a fair question to start with if Yumi and Chika's relationship will be truly shaken or it will be a nothingburger, and for how long. I mean, Yumi really didn't do anything. And Chika should know her better than anyone (although it has been pointed out - I forgot who said it, sorry - that Yumi might have difficulty explaining the trip if Chika won't be able to hear about RAS).

I can see Chika breaking yet another barrier in stupidity by believing Yumi is in a relationship with Akira, her being mad because Yumi reveals all that she knows and never told her (I'd like this one), or that she somehow reinterprets Yumi and Akira's past in her own bizarre light.

If neither of these come true, then her relationship with Noriko (although great for Yumi) wouldn't mean much besides the eventual reveal that Niki is Akira's "real girlfriend", and living with him. Anything from Yumi, let's be honest, even with Chika's delusions would be way below that.

Edit: Also, I'm out of reactions.

That was never my intention and I apologize. I'll be more conscious in the future.
