I'm gonna be honest, the smile on your Sensei makes me laugh, he looks like one of those cheesy villains. I have no idea what sort of black magic Selebus invoked to make that one smile creepy as fuck instead of just cheesy.

To be honest tho, the second one doesn't look that creepy, it's worse in his more recent events.

We haven't got enough data to theorize yet, since the one person that has seen them like this is Yasu and, well, she's Yasu (the exception is Akira seeing that one dude during Sensei Quest). It could be that she sees things differently because of her vision, or even because she was medicated, and thus is able to see things properly, rather than the shadows everyone sees.
If this trend continues, we can theorize further. As it is, we need more data.

More like getting more money out of that character pack Sel bought for that one Sensei Quest joke. They aren't faceless beings but they're horrendously low poly compared to even the single color background characters. That's basically the only pose that doesn't make it horrendously obvious and you can still look at the hands.

It’s likely that Selly is just trying to recreate what he believes to be a faithful representation of a busy commute area; these models can be seen also doing the same thing in Kyoto. Just a new option in his toolbox.
One thing that renders me unwilling to consider any more meaning behind using more detailed models is that, look at how many white collar Japanese ojisan there are! They should be in space! Granted, we do already have some male encounters by now but they were there only to have some specific one- or two-time uses in some events, and that’s it. A scene with a bunch of dudes commuting in the background like this presents a nichijou that feels like a direct backstabbing to Kumon-mi’s setting.
Therefore, instead of contemplating on thoughts too grand to be proven with just this one scene (like this box universe starts taking shapes evident by better rendered characters showing up, or anything of that nature), I choose to believe that this means nothing and choose not to create extended but previously nonexistent questions that cannot be answered to my heart’s content.
Edit: an example question is that, “should I notice the change in background character rendering but not care about the fact that there are literally two identical Kenjis? or should I keep treating them as non-factors?”

Yeah, I felt the same way. By the time I started getting really invested, it came to an end. Maybe the next one will be longer and this was simply meant to lay the groundwork.
