Many ways for Maya's wish to go wrong, but I have ideas.

First idea. What if Maya sees Ami, and wishes to share her place? Ami is happy to share, but is unhappy when Maya tries to take over, and be the only one. This is why when Maya cries about how she is being punished for falling in love, she is going against her wish. She wanted a world where she could share Sensei with Ami, but instead she is in love, and want to not share anymore.

Second idea I have. What if Maya wishes for a world with no death? This is why resets happen so many times, because people die and makes everything reset. People said before they think that Chinami dies for reset, but another reset happens right when Ami disappears, and dies. Mini reset happens in Bluejay. Something happens to break the wish, maybe the gods getting bored, which makes Makoto Dad die, and the school collapse, because world, and wish is breaking apart.

Third idea I have. Maya wishes for a world where Sensei is alive, but she blames herself for him dying. She is not allowed to fall in love with Sensei, because in her wish she cannot love Sensei, or he will die.

Sorry I am not as clever as other people here, but I have read everything here for a long time, and every time I am excited to read people's clever ideas. I like Deskel, Aramaug, and many others clever ideas a lot.

I think most likely Akira's happiness is an element of the wish so it's more a case of people he cares about not being able to die. Letting just Makoto's dad die when people have been unable to die subsequently doesn't make much sense/would be a bit too convenient.

I do like the notion that Maya's inability to get close to Akira is the result of her own wish, though. It's been talked a bit about how Maya herself could have started out as a more innocent wish that was corrupted by Akira's trauma so it's interesting to consider that she may have wished for his life and happiness but subconsciously excluded herself from the equation out of guilt and created her own worst nightmare.
