Has anybody else had an issue where the skip button is grayed out and won't work? I'm currently trying to get back to the newest update after downloading a save file that ends at the latest Dorm Wars. I want to skip forward but the skip button is grayed out, even though all the other buttons like "girls" or "progress" are still clickable. Pressing "control" doesn't do anything either. Is there a way to fix this or alternatively does anyone else have a save file (without skipped events) so I don't have to be clicking for the next few hours?

Yeah, but I've already read through the game before. I lost my previous save file, so that's why I want to just skip through it so I'm up to date.

I personally think Sana and possibly Sara still have a lot of important story coming, considering their visions and seemingly being affected. I'm sure others have more to say about that, but I feel like that's looming in the background and Sana is more important than we realize yet. Enter deep speculation on the connection there here.
Failing that, Sana is one of the girls Akira had less sexual contact with / has taken the longest, and has mostly been in the friend role or the "fix each other" role. Hell, for a while she was more of a "niece" than Ami, considering he was looking after her and trying to help her better herself, but wasn't fucking her. So maybe Ami got compartmentalized, and Sana grown-up filled that role? I think it fits.
I had another train of thought, but I am a fucking moron, so I have lost it. Something about how she appeared right before he snapped out of it was in there somewhere. I'll edit if I remember what I was going to say

As for in-narrative reasons, we're still in a part of chapter 4 where the focus is on Akira dealing with Maya stuff, but if you remember, chapter 3 was centered around Ayane and even Himawari stuff after a certain point. So it could be that we simply haven't got to the Sana stuff yet.
As for it making sense in chapter 3, well, Sana was saved by Pareidolia, and she was the last one Akira got together with before the reset (that was a new girl). Maybe I'm missing something, but I feel like that's enough.

I think you're forgetting that that Sana wasn't Sana, Akira was just seeing her like that, because in fact that Sana was Maya. What happened there was the same thing that happened at Ami's event where Akira had sex with Ami thinking she was Maya.

I wouldn't be so sure if that was Sana.
The problem here is that Sel was reusing KK models for various girls. Either intentionally or maybe he just thought "cute".
Akira was already seeing Ami as Maya prior, so it's not so far to assume that it was Ami cosplaying Sana in the "Times New Roman" stuff.
Ami wanted Akira for herself all alone.
We also have the body outline on the floor, and probably Ami's dead body nailed to the wall.
My guess would be that Ami tried to infuse feelings of guilt into Akira.
At the same time she might have played the role of Sana, to have her refuge with Akira, while he did not realise it was Ami.

Sana wasn't actually there, but she was the person he saw, or the model was similar. Which means that his mind put her there, or whomever was controlling what he saw in his mind did. Or you could subscribe to the theory that his mind was in another "place" (during some blackouts like that one) akin to the copy of heaven Mymy is in now or something similar — which opens up a huge can of worms. I don't know how many people think that, at least for this instance, I'll shelve that for now. But then the question is why. Just fun to think about. I'm like 95% certain Sana will be very important in the future and might tie into more than we know now. I'm 100% certain I'm still a fucking moron though, and I can't find the train of thought I lost earlier. Might come back to it later with more thoughts.

But he keeps getting these visions and weird stuff happens to his head, which makes him question if this is all really a game and who he was in the first place.
From then onwards, it basically circles around the "what is this place" and "who am i", it just gets progressively more complicated as the game moves forward.
You don't need to understand all the weird stuff on your first playthrough, just play it. If you become interested in that side of things, we can help you, or you can just replay.
