I am still on this forum, just inactive. Originally I did want to post about the entire copyright strikes on to this forum, but decided not to because there isn't a lot of interest for the playlist.

Yes, every single take down request on my videos was from Selebus. Both on videos with his edited ("happy") music, and videos with original music. I'm not sure exactly what the copyrighted material was (either the background or the music), I don't really understand copyright law, but Selebus must have gone through some hoops to register content within my videos as copyrighted just so he can take them down. My first videos were uploaded on 16/7/2023, the first take down wave came on 30/9/2024 and the second was just a few days ago.

Can you elaborate further on the internet archive? I do know the website but I'm not sure how uploading there will be beneficial to others.

It seems like he is trying to make it impossible to upload certain songs from the game.
These kinds of false copyright claims are some of the most bad-faith, lying horseshit you can pull on the internet. Sorry you have to deal with this. I'd also encourage you to upload it all elsewhere. Selly's not going to escalate a case against you, but there's plenty of other bullshit you can pull with someone's personal info and I wouldn't put it past him.

Scorched-earth deletion rather than claiming the income of the videos is just dumb, petty tyrant shit, too. This is just yet another potential marketing outlet squandered for no fucking reason other than he can, when his income level is literally in its 4th year of stagnation as the game approaches it's 5th anniversary of development.

But hey, this is the same guy who thought only 40% of his subscribers came from here when he's seen 0% growth without the Latest Updates page, so par for the course.

Im pretty damn sure the ones meant to be are either Maya, Sana, or Niki.
They're the ones with the most... Unique effects on Akira.

According to the wiki, Sel only commissioned one song. It was the piano arrangement of Hallelujah. He does not own the rest.
I just want to point out that "commissioning" a piano arrangement of "Hallelujah" doesn't mean you own it. It's Leonard Cohen's song. His estate owns the music. Unless you licensed it yourself (which would not come cheap), you can't claim ownership — and unless you purchased all rights to the performance, you don't even own that either: the performer does.

Sel is basically in the position of a fanfiction author: yes, he wrote his words. But he doesn't own the software, the images, the music....

So claiming copyright is a dick move and completely unsupportable.

I cant imagine Sel will ever be able to get paid for big time music given the game he's making lmao.

Supporting evidence: In 2005 geek musician Jonathan Coulton recorded a cover of Sir Mix-a-Lot's "Baby Got Back" with a unique arrangement. In 2013, Glee used this arrangement, note for note, in an episode, and Coulton was powerless to do anything about it. He couldn't even legally force them to credit him for the arrangement.

Sel TLDR: "Guess what losers regular Yumi lost, Get Fucked. But you know what is getting fucked?? The child version of Yumi."
Sel: You're a goddamn moron for daring to not be a fan of a character who's never shown any sexual interest in another character of the same age having sex with that character instead of the player character who is of a higher age.

Also Sel: Y'ALL READY TO FUCK A LOLI?!

I meant to refer to the value they apparently brought
He was the most insightful, entertaining meta-poster the thread had had in years.

Also, his loquacity and almost comical self-reflectivity seemed quite suitable for discussion of Lessons in Love.

Maybe I just have a soft spot for people with strange but internally-consistent views and the will to expound at great length on the internet?

There was a unique style there that brought some real fun and intrigue. I enjoy it most when the thread feels like a sort of meta-narrative supplement to the story. In that sense Y_F's posts really hit the spot.

But that's just, like, my opinion, man.

I wrote a small mod that lets you skip the affection/lust point grind without having to go through the tedium of typing in cheat codes or having your save labelled with the cheater flag.

View attachment 1901303

Features:
  • Sets all girls' affection and lust points to a value X unless they were already higher than X
  • Can set a specific girl's love/lust points
  • Written to be future-proof (i.e. will automatically work for any new girls, you will never need to update the mod)
  • Enables the developer console
Usage Instructions:
  • Download the attached file
    • Note: if you get sent to a new tab with a bunch of text, just right click and hit "Save as" and name it as z_set_love_lust.rpy
  • Move into the folder named "game" (found inside the folder that you launch Lessons in Love from)
  • Load a save and open the developer console with Shift + O
  • Press Enter a few times until you can see the ">" symbol in the top left of the screen
  • To update all girls' love and lust: type setLoveAndLust(X) and press Enter(for an example, see the image below)
    • Note: X must be an integer (aka whole number)
  • To update a specific girl's love or lust, for example Ami: type "ami_love += X" and/or "ami_lust += X" without the quotation marks and then press Enter.
    • Note: the girl's name must be fully lower-case.
    • This will increase their love/lust by X. If you want to make it equal to X then omit the plus sign
  • Press Esc to close the console and now you can play!

Bonus stuff (not essential to read):

I recommend using this with the guide mod for max efficiency because other than grinding points, the main time-sink with this game is trying to trigger events.

If you want a version of the mod that lets you set affection and lust points separately (useful if you don't want to see any lust events), see here: https://f95zone.to/threads/lessons-in-love-v0-30-0-selebus.48158/post-10770605

Advice from alex2011 on how to use the mod so that you don't accidentally miss events (note: I used the mod myself with 50 affection from the start and didn't experience any issues. You can still miss events even if you follow the instructions below and you can still see all events while ignoring those instructions.):

Uninstall: delete the files z_set_love_lust.rpy and z_set_love_lust.rpyc from your game subfolder

I also made a mod that lets you scroll your mouse-wheel to simulate clicks (i.e. scrolling forward a bit makes the dialogue move forward by one mouse click), makes the game more convenient to play https://f95zone.to/threads/use-scroll-wheel-to-simulate-mouse-clicks.120507/#post-8406783
I can't get this to work anymore does anyone know why or having the same problem?

And that’s a dick move, too. Credit the arranger. Because why not?

But I’m going to guess that they paid Sir M, as well they should have.
