No, when you permanently miss an event the text will be red with a line struck through it. The event title will also change. If it's still in black like that it just means you've not done the event yet. If I remember rightly this is one of Rin's early events, you just need to go see her in the cafe on a weekend with like 5 affection.

It's important to remember not to focus too much on one character in this game - remember, this is a lengthy VN, not a generic porn game. Don't focus on your favourite girl, try to balance your time between all the girls and raise their affection fairly evenly or you'll really slow yourself down - a lot of the main story events require you to have done specific character events.

If you're not already it's highly recommended you use the walkthrough mod, or else look up the next main quest on the wiki and check the requirements if you find yourself stuck for a while. It's not a big deal at the stage of the game you're in at the moment but before too long you'll be juggling 35 characters with main story events requiring a specific event from just one or two of them and other events having one-off hard to guess triggers

I'm playing with the guide mod, and my favorite characters are Yumi, Maya, and Sana—so I usually skip the other events to focus on theirs.

I did the same thing on my first playthrough up until the middle of chapter 2 or so. Barely knew who Chinami was and skipped all Chika stuff. Then I became the resident insane person that can quote obscure pieces of lore after replaying everything :ROFLMAO:

Also Yumi and Maya gang!

Yeah, you'll wanna avoid doing that haha I did the same thing initially, with the same three girls actually lol

This is a very long game with a ton of content and a complex story - Yumi's not going anywhere, just take your time and soak everything in, make it last. Before you know it you'll have finished the game and your life will be empty again.

Or maybe you're a normal person and you'll just find something else to do, I wouldn't know.

The rest of the characters are great, but none of them quite compare to those three—they’re definitely the best... for me at least.
This is a very long game
How long is the game exactly? Or, put another way, what percentage of the game would you say I’ve completed so far?

I'm definitely getting attached to the gamme—falling more in love with it as I go—so yeah, I think I get what you mean. But for now, I’m staying focused on the task at hand.

there are already several games I enjpy and am waiting on updates for, so I think I’ll have plenty to keep me busy after finishing the game.
Don’t you have a few favorites you're following alongside this one too?

Well, if you keep skipping large portions of the plot it is impossible to quantify. Currently, the game is at its halfway point and a full playthrough would take from one to two months, give or take.

Current build has 3 completed chapters and it's at half of chapter 4, so I'd say you're at 0.5/7, more or less.

It's one of the longest VN's of all time, if not the longest. There's currently 4 chapters, each chapter kind of has halves for a reason and I've been calling the second half of each chapter .5. We've just started chapter 4.5, and I'm pretty sure you're still in the first half of chapter 1.

Here is a redacted screenshot of my progress page. You should be able to compare event counts and progress time of my save. The hint mod hides events and characters to whatever chapters are visible to you. If you're enough of a nerd you can figure out the names but you probably shouldn't.

you need to listen to Shmurfer.

I'm definitely not going to abuse this quote

I see we're posting large images and gifs without spoiler tags again... everyone benefits from people using them, so why do i always have to be the one requesting people to use them... it's not a job i want... it's thread etiquette, not my etiquette, if you're a regular here is it not in your interest to have everything run smoothly and be pleasant to scroll through?

Are you talking about me? Does the big screenshot not show as a thumbnail on mobile or something? or is the spongebob too big? I thought it was signature esque

[edit] I think I see it.

Fair point, just edited them a bit ago. Thanks for bringing it up, wouldn't have known unless it was mentioned, sorry to force you to be the one constantly notifying people

Not you, your fine, small images like that cause no one any issues, it's the ones ten times the size or any animated gif above a small (same as your spongebob) 2 second loop. Even then, i flag any gif, some folks are hyper sensitive to animation, even my signature probably messes with someone from time to time... though i take that one as a hit to my anxiety cause that mod needs to be advertized far and wide...
Nah I definitely think he means me
Also the new guy, 10 posts up or so...

This would have only been better if the creature would have spit into the camera in the end.

Just my 2 cents

I love all of them lol Yumi's my #1 personally, but most of the cast has yet to be introduced for you and the character development in this game is very steady and well-done. You'll probably end up liking most characters, including some you might not care about/for at the moment.

It's difficult to give a percentage on how far you are right now, but basically you're still at the very beginning lol my health sucks hard so I'm unemployed and my first playthrough took me about a week but I was basically playing every waking hour. If you're in a more normal situation I imagine this game will keep you going for months.

To quantify it another way the game itself currently has 2.9 million words according to the discord. I'm not sure if that counts stuff on the computer/from the fanfest but for comparison the entire ASOIAF book series (the Game of Thrones books) has around 1.8 million words. Even only being half done I'd be surprised if Lessons in Love wasn't already the largest VN out there, probably by a pretty good margin.

Not as far as VN's go, I usually try and stay away from stuff like this particularly because I hate waiting around for updates. I don't mind it quite as much with LiL since the updates here are very regular and have a lot of content but that's not been my general experience with similar types of games

I have some regular type games I play to kill time but naturally that's not as fulfilling or gripping as getting really into something like this. Honestly this is the first thing I've read/played/whatever that's really consumed me in years, maybe more than anything ever has. That's obviously something that'll vary from person to person though but yeah, I'm glad you're enjoying so far.

Hello new player. I understand that you already have seen the the two gatekeeping events: "breed your niece minigame" and "this town has two halves" and still decided to play the game. At this point you won't have a much problem with grinding affection points and triggering events. But further down the road affection point requairements will jump to a ridiculous numbers, and event triggers will be complicated. You already use guide mod, i advice you to use either URM or AutoVN mod to bypass both grinding and triggering events.

And second and most important advice: If you want to lurk here, be prepared to see some some spoilers. While people around here are careful about it, we may write an important thing about an event or what happened to a character in the past without using spoiler tag.

A few weeks ago a new player got angry because someone said that Darth Vader is Luke's father. Sure it is a spoiler but an old one that people around here can say it witout using a spoiler tag.

So be careful. And have fun.
