sel taking another break on June??
So it’s like this:

- 0.49 will release on May 1st
- The entirety of May will be Sel’s vacation month, where he takes a break.
- At the start of June, development for 0.50 will begin, which will take the whole month.
- On July 1st, 0.50 will release.

I expect roadmaps for updates beyond 0.50 will be known to us by then.

People here really might go insane waiting for this after the lackluster "fanfest" we got, hope 0.49 is good enough to hold things over, it won't.

Then yeah, if it ends up being all goof like the opening for chapter 4 this dorm wars might be a bit lacklustre too. Going from fan fest into dorm wars and then a break is a big gap for serious progression. I already feel like the fan fest gap has driven me a little crazy lol

When Chinami was very young she was able to get medical care thanks to an unnamed friend of Chiaki who pretended to be her mom. A while back, I speculated that the friend could have been Tsubasa. Thanks to new evidence, I now believe that theory is extremely likely to be true. Here's the original post:
I'm glad someone brought this up. She might be referring to Sekai, but I think it's actually Chiaki. Here's the line:

I can't remember if it's been established that Chiaki had a temper, but I imagine Chika is emulating her when she curses in Tagalog.

In "Curry Night" Chiaki talks about having a friend take Chinami to the hospital.

The friend is strangely intimidating and has connections; sure sounds like Tsubasa to me.

I also think this makes a lot of sense with Tsubasa's actions. The meeting at the hot spring always felt engineered, and she was remarkably quick to latch onto the Chosokabes as her "new daughters". My guess is she's been keeping tabs on them since Chiaki died and finally decided to get directly involved in their lives.

As for how they could have met, Tsubasa used to "sneak away" from her rich girl lifestyle in her youth:

In Yasu's first event in 0.48, Touka uses intimidation and her family's connections to force a doctor to give Yasu treatment as if she were a member of Touka's family. This is very similar to what Chiaki's friend did for Chinami, and enough details are repeated that I can't see it being a coincidence. Rather, the parallels are because the person who taught Touka to act like this, i.e. Tsubasa, is the same person as Chiaki's friend.

If Tsubasa was Chiaki's friend, it raises an obvious question: why didn't she use her vast wealth to do more for the Chosokabes? For example, she could have paid for Chinami's care outright instead of only letting them use her insurance. I think Tsubasa herself gave us an explanation for why she didn't do more: Chiaki stubbornly refused direct financial assistance.

Shortly after Tsubasa hears the story about how Chiaki got help from her friend, she says that if Chika doesn't accept Tsubasa's aid, she's going to wind up like Chiaki. Based on what Tsubasa should know, this comparison makes little sense - Chiaki accepted aid but still died in poverty. On the other hand, it makes a lot of sense if she has personal knowledge that Chiaki rejected offers of more substantial help.

So it seems like Chiaki let her friend commit insurance fraud but wouldn't let her use her own money to pay legally, which is a bit silly, but I guess she drew a hard line on accepting money and that was the only other way she could afford Chinami's care.

Call me overly optimistic, but I feel like this Dorm Wars will end up being pretty fun. Sure, there probably won't be any huge strides lore-wise, but the interactions themselves can still be interesting.

Take the Date War contest with Rin VS Io for example. We're coming off an insane setup in Rin's story. She was actually gonna go through with having sex with Akira after so long of holding back, but was unlucky enough for her mom to find out. Akira and Rin haven't spoken to one another since before that incident even took place, so now we get to see where that leads. Let's not forget Haruka also told Akira about it, so that makes things extra interesting.

And with Io, maybe she'll finally get that long awaited amusement park date she's always wanted. Sure, she went with Uta recently, but it was cut short and she didn't get to experience it fully. This could be the perfect opportunity for it to happen.

And that's just the contest I look forward to the most. I'm also curious what this lawyer competition will wind up being... All I know is Makoto and Uta look amazing in those suits, hot dayum.

On another note, I find it amusing that Yumi is actively participating in her contest with seemingly no resistance at all. It's almost like she wants to show off for Akira in her swimsuit or something, but just won't admit it.

I see you, Yumi... We all know how your last event ended... ;)

Last Dorm Wars (0.39) kicked rocks due to its chaotic and random nature, the constant barrage of Good Kid songs distracting many players from reading, and the fact that Akira wasn't even directly part of the event itself. That was the peak of his depression arc and, while necessary in the long term, it only made the update a slog to get through rather than an enjoyable experience.

With all that said, though, I'm willing to give this Dorm Wars a chance at redemption.

There were rumors circulating that the contests for this upcoming Dorm Wars were decided by the LiLcord via polls, but I can confirm that's 100% not true. There was a channel for Dorm Wars ideas during the Fanfest where members could toss ideas around, but it never reached the point where actual polls were made for voting on each individual contest. The update's writing is all on Sel like normal.

Yeah, I was more-so just thinking in terms of people who've become a bit exasperated after the fanfest. The timing of having fanfest right before dorm wars and a break might be a bit unfortunate in that sense.

I was definitely one of those who found the last dorm wars to be a slog but like you said, that was largely because of the lack of Sensei and the timing so I'm still optimistic about this one. There's been plenty of interesting moments in previous dorm wars after all, Ayane's trek through the woods and Tsuneyo's stand-up debut for example.

If I remember rightly Kirin and Chika are facing off so aside from Rin's I think that's the one I'm most looking forward to, considering where they left off at the Christmas party.

I've never used this comparison software before so I'd like someone to double check, but the only differences I can see between the purchased version and the final version from the website are typo fixes, which should mean no DRM (at least based on the previous release of the DRM)

Would need Fire Lord Zuko to prepare a version with the character songs, which interestingly aren't in the paid version. Guess the plan is they'll eventually be in the game.

I was hoping that someone would've clocked by now that Chinami now knows about Akira's infidelity towards Chika after Tsukasa told her about it, and Chinami isn't someone who seems to be able to hold a secret.
What will happen to someone who has sex with Akira without him being "in love" with her?
Find out in the next episode of Lessons in Love (maybe not directly the next one)

I therefore predict that one of the side characters will "die"

I also randomly predict that either one, or both of Tsukasa's parents will die (unrelated to chika), no reason at all
