It does become horny, but the weird is here to stay regardless. The sex scenes often aren't particularly titillating, either due to the narrator's tone/wording, or due to intrusion by horror elements.

I'd argue it's mostly cause Selly sucks at making titillating sex scenes and has absolutely zero interest in improving his skills in that arena.

It never goes to just being horny, the weird/deeper stuff is throughout. There's plenty of sex in the game and a lot of funny/flirtatious banter and such but it doesn't stop being weird lol
And whilst there's plenty of absolute degeneracy the actual sex scenes are mostly fairly tame, it's not really the focus of the game I'd argue. The grinding scenes are animated but they're all super basic.

The answer to both is Yes. However, there are 9 character moments for every 1 H scene. If it vibes with you you'll eventually play for the characters/story with the H scenes being just a natural extension of the writing/character moments.
You will literally stop being horny even when you are staring at a sex scene

So, as promised, I managed to catch up with the updates and with the thread, I ran out of reactions a few pages ago so I'm sorry for not being able to appreciate all of the great posts so far.
And let me just say one thing: What a time to come back from a hiatus!
Those last two updates were amazing. In fact, since I had to go from 0.51 to 0.53 and didn't visit this thread at all and didn't know what was coming, I was under the impression for the longest time that Ayane's epilogue was just gonna be a small additional storyline after the reset is initiated by Himawari (i.e. the ending bit of the reset update 0.52) but then it went on and on and on, and it was so painfully wholesome and perfect, that instead of just playing for a few more minutes I had to stay up all night and play through it all, because damn, I didn't realize just how much I needed Akira to collect a big fat W like that. And Ayane too, of course.
One of the 0.53 haters in this thread mentioned something to the effect that he disliked the epilogue because to him Ayane was a mid-character anyway.
This is where I want to strictly disagree, as someone who didn't rate Ayane very highly myself, this whole development really catapulted her up the ranks, for obvious reasons. Seeing her this happy and fulfilled should feel satisfying to anyone who likes this game, regardless of whether you found her very interesting or not so far.
But anyway, I just want to summarize this update with one image:
So what is there left to say?
Here's a few more tidbits that I have been thinking about:
I might actually have a tinfoil theory regarding the above, involving Ami, Maya, Himawari etc. but it's not really based on too much substantial evidence or anything, so maybe I'll post about it later.

I think Christmalloween is a smart choice just for the pacing, honestly. If they were two separate things again we'd had three holiday event chains (including dorm wars and a reset) in like five updates, plus the epilogue. All the actual story and lore has been nice but I'm gagging to carry on with some regular character stuff now.
And I hadn't thought about it but yeah, I suppose Hima's little dream company could provide an organic way for the purity routes to come about without interfering with or minimising the main story's outcome.

Though I've been wondering if maybe some of the God's tied to Kumon-Mi are outside the scope of whatever weird divine corporation Hima's working for. Whatever's protecting Ami I don't think we're gonna find out any time soon regardless lol
Even if she wasn't my favorite, she had already a decent standing in my character tier list just because of the PaperCity event

I've been begging for Akira to use the apartment as a home Ami doesn't know about. 0.50 & 0.52 made it sound like he's hopelessly stuck with her but 0.53 has given more hope on that front.
