Before 0.46 I was getting convinced "am i okay" was what happened to Nu Maya after 0.45 and Ami torturing her. Out of all the Maya backroom servants, she's the only one who isn't physically deformed, she's acknowledged that there is another Maya on the other side but has also identified herself as Maya in other events, happy events with her have raised Maya's affection, she has said several times that she misses Akira and his touch and gets sad if you don't want to see her anymore. Before 0.46 this was Nu Maya's arc too, complete with knowing there's another Maya he misses too, but she still misses him and his touch.
am i okay also seemed to be more of a prisoner than an antagonist. She barely appeared in the 'real world' and never really controlled any events the same way youdidit or moyo does. And she had that scene where it looked like Hope was consuming her or something while Ami and Sekai watched, just before Chapter 2 ends. Maya also said the line during one of the reset questionnaires, even though you could feel Sel taunting you with whether it's a red herring or not.
But since then, am i okay made an appearance in 'the real world' sending Chika to her TSS (She's also appeared in the real world sending Akira to untitled childrens show, but that was also the moment a reset began, this was mid cycle). Maya also didn't get reset, instead she was being toyed with by Ami, and away from her she had her heart to heart with Akira about wanting to learn, wasn't he happy with her for some of it, and that she doesn't remember her own past right now. Feels too deep to just throw that storyline away at this point. And since the latest update, we don't even know how she's making it out of it whether she's losing her memories or not due to the factory reset, or due to her dismemberment.
The am i okay that seemed to act as a surrogate Maya hasn't made an appearance since her seemingly being sacrificed in Chapter 2. Her brief apperances since have been as a servant of HOPE and it's hard to think it's because of something important about her like her being able to cross timelines herself, or whether Sel just needed someone to do it and she hadn't been used in a while.
Basically it's not worth overthinking things more than Sel would.
It's not a bug. You're never given her number, she sends you a photo during the first Ch4 beach visit. How do you learn the number of some random person who's only ever sent you a photo without looking at the photo.
