Ganyu in chinese is " 甘雨 " , while in japanese " 雨 " means ame . Probably the title is like that is because of stupid translation problem. Just want to point it out if anyone want to know.

For this, I think the play on word is intentional, just like the previous game with "Na" in place of Hina.
It's the usual cheeky way Japanese creators used for copyrighted names.

It's ◯雨, not just 雨 (rain). Dev was essentially censoring the "Gan" part of Ganyu. Translating it into ame is the fault of machine translation.
