In theory the patch should work with any version of the copy in the OP. All it does is overwrite certain files.

A file read error is weird but it says there its likely insufficient memory. How much memory do you have?
Is the gallery bugged? For some scenes that I try to switch pregnancy on or change to different outfits i.e Lilia Missionary in the animated section or some of the standing sections, it doesn't actually switch. I'm using the save from the first page.

Which scenes specifically? Actually old saves might not be compatible with the newer versions since the values are likely to be different.
I have 16gb ram, I was checking how much ram I have and it said something around 1-2gb ram being used.

Hmm does this happen somewhere specific or is it on startup? If its somewhere specific I could test with a save.
it started the error after the sexual engagement with Lord Valis. Sorry this is the autosave I got.

The game worked the first time I opened it but after that it wouldn't work anymore (with the ultra-unhelpful "game.exe has stopped working" message). Unpacking it again, the same thing happens: works the first time, but stops once you close the game and try to re-open.
These two are just quick examples I gathered as I was looking through. As you can see, the changes aren't reflected, but as you also said it might be due to the save file I'm using as I'm also using the latest patch.

I started the game,tried it again and it went smooth. I'm sorry it must have been a rare crash.
It was a Roy's event with his girlfriend Sheryal(?) talking to Lord Valis.
this game wreaked havoc on my pc while unzipping I literally can't use the windows key and my task bar is just a black bar, I can't open steam or settings, and if I go full screen on chrome it stops responding
This might be the first time something that sounds like joke advice actually worked out.
