Loading saved files from previous game

Hi, I have completed my first episode and want to start on the second episode but I am wondering what I need to do to make sure that the player can load his last save from the previous episode so he can continue where he left off.

I think I need to use Multi-game persistent data but have no clue in how to implement it into my two game versions.

Any help in understanding what I must do would be greatly appreciated.

You probably would have had more answers if you said what engine you use.
