Ren'Py - LockDown Dom [v0.33.0.0] [Down Bad Smut Games]

Gave this a try and happy I did, had a lot of fun with it. There isnt really a story imo, but all the characters are charming and loveable. Everyone has different personalities and chemistry, and there are tons of options for different kind of routes (dom/sub) and kinks, even tho it mainly focus on ass play and anal sex but if you a fan of those (which I am), then you'll love this. Its pretty straightforward with build up and sex and no grinding really, the sandbox mode is fun but even then its quite linear. Love the art style and animations are very simple nothing too special but with the fun dialogue got me excited for some scenes. Wonder what the direction of the game will be in future, hope it does a little more but so far had my fun with it.

This work stands out immediately for one reason: it isn’t trying to imitate anything else. There’s a genuine spark of individuality here, the kind that suggests a developer still finding their voice — and doing so with enthusiasm rather than fear.

That said, the game’s ambition sometimes outpaces its experience. The free-roam system, while admirable in concept, feels rough around the edges; navigation can be awkward, and the structure doesn’t always support the story as cleanly as it could. It’s a feature with potential, but it needs refinement to match the rest of the project.

The pacing is another area that suffers. Relationships progress at a speed that leaves little room for anticipation or emotional buildup. Moments that should simmer instead rush to completion, robbing the scenes of the tension and charm they could have offered. Still — what’s here lays a solid foundation for future growth.

The art, though simple, is undeniably cute and pleasing to look at. It has personality, softness, and a sincerity that many polished titles lack. The addition of voice work is a delightful surprise, adding warmth and presence to the characters.

Overall, the game feels like the early steps of someone with real potential — imperfect, yes, but filled with the kind of creativity and heart that makes me curious to see what comes next. With time, polish, and patience, this could grow into something truly special.

Awesome VN. Definitely one of my recent favourites.

The art is very solidly good. It reminds me of some cartoon I feel like I've seen before, though I can't quite put my finger on what it was. It's simply generally enjoyable to look at.

That girls' designs are excellent. I like the generous proportions, and they all have absolutely tantalizing bubble-butts.

The writing is very competent, and is actually where my only criticism lies.
I won't go terribly in-depth here, as most of it isn't really relevant to the review, but the jist is that there I feel like there isn't nearly enough set-up.

Not for the setting, not for the girls, not for... really anything at all.
Information that should have been previously mentioned due to it's relevance is frequently presented out of nowhere, and I frequently found myself understanding why a character would say something or act a certain way retroactively. But the problem is that it's not like you learned a secret or something - you learn something very cornerstone to the character, and something the game definitely should have explained to you, ESPECIALLY since it's framed as if the MC already knew the information. If he knows it, why doesn't it tell me?
It's all very strange, and makes me wonder if the writing was approached anachronistically?

But again, this is most likely just nit-picks, so I will try to get all my examples and such to the dev and not get too distracted in this review.

Other than the frequent confusion, the writing is competent.

The NSFW is overall good - some were meh, some I really liked.

I really like this, and really hope it gets a LOT more development. I have hopes that this is only a taste of what's to come - and that taste is delectable!

Very lovable characters super cute art and a very charismatic protagonist to only add to the formula, didn't expect the route system but it was a nice touch and it even pushed me to play again just to see the other options, way better than i expected

This game has improved a lot since the last time I tried it, although unfinished it seems headed in the right direction. Something for everyone and lots of choices that matter. Content you don't want easily avoided. No bugs or weird happening with the game play. Hope it keeps on moving in a positive direction

I love the premise of this game, to the point I've decided to support the creators. It's still early in it's development, but I like what I'm seeing, I guess it doesn't help I'm an ass man lol. Really hope they add pregnancy content to the game. I wish the best to this project and hope the devs won't dissapoint.

Afterthought, from what I've seen of the negative reviews, these people review the game as if it is a finished product, forgetting or not being able to see it's probably at 1/5th of it's development stage if that much. Sure it might not revolutionize the genre, but it's more than competent in what it's promising. Also, whoever was involved in the making of the sideways anal with Jessie, you were onto something there, the style of art and "texture" given to her, I hope to see more of that on the scenes.

The fact that some people are giving this HAND DRAWN AVN anything below a 4-star is insane to me. Like the art ALONE gives it 3-stars, but I give it a fourth because the character writing is pretty good.

Big positives in this AVN. The teasing and sexual content is great; the aforementioned character writing is good, making sure every character is distinct and has their own personality; there's a lot of customisation for choosing dom/sub paths for each, as well as whether one character is trans and whether another has a bush and/or cellulite (you can view the differnces in scenes through a very in-depth menu, however it mentions "Ruby: Lady" and "Clarissa: Exhibitionist", which I have no clue what that refers to).

Some people criticise it for being labelled a sandbox, and to SOME extent I agree. I think the big issue is that you're doing everything in a checklist: when someone blows you, you should be able to get blown by them again. When you cross certain relationship thresholds, you should be able to alter more "norm" activities like sitting in their room or reading a book, and make them sexual. However, I think that'll be included later. The dev seems to be focusing on the main story beats. Either that, or they want to wrap this up and go onto their next project. And, honestly? There's nothing wrong with that. This isn't a big project, this is a single dev, and I think just running through having that harem could be fun.

Another gripe I've read is that they want to have sex with you quickly. That's also true, BUT the writing kinda gives you some outs for the characters and why they're really into you. Are they logical reasons? Eh, but it's a porn game, and it's better than most.
HOWEVER, I will say the escalation with sexual content does seem strange. It feels like you kinda split the AVN into half, where the first kinda leads into this implication it's gonna be a lot of teasing and asserting control, while the second half has a lot more escalation that feels like it comes a bit out of nowhere. Am I particularly mad? Nope, still hot, but adding more steps would've been good. I think that's where repetition of sexual scenes could've helped.

Now, the biggest issue (that I don't really see mentioned) is that in that second half, the general dialogue doesn't match with the actual point in the story. Jessie is the biggest example. Jake, Jessie's boyfriend, is a swell guy. He's great. But the game has two paths where you cuck him, and the game CANNOT mix you having casual conversation with Jake outside your scenes with Jessie, and within those scenes. There is NO mix. Jake's dialogue NEEDS to change to reflect your actual relationship with him, and it doesn't. This is true for ALL of them. If you go the Bull or Replace route, Jake should be less confident around you and less confident. One scene I'm banging his girlfriend, the next he's calling me buddy and we're paling it up. There is no semblance of fluidity here. Every character has similar things, but Jessie and Jake have it the worst.

Intro
So this game is by no means bad. for the devs first ever game, its decent. its got decent animations, varied looking characters. bi content, alot of choices to make. dom, sub, etc etc. its got a pretty cool foundation. i have played the variations of the builds since the early days, and it is coming along nicely. HOWEVER, there are a few setbacks which we shall list.

PROS
1. Bisexual content. sure its ONE character, but having that option is still nice!
2. The models dont all look alike, with the exact same bodies. sure they share more similarities than not. but they do have ENOUGH differences to set them apart from eachother.
3. There is anal, vaginal, oral, some kink stuff too.
4. i LOVE the art style paired with SMOOTH animations.

CONS
1. It has a sandbox tag, but its Linear. other than mindlessly clicking different rooms and changing the time of day. there is no sandbox element to this game. its a gimmick, not a true sandbox title. there is no revisiting sex scenes through re-interacting with your favourite characters. once youve had the scene, thats it. you must go to the gallery outside of the gameplay "Loop" and watch them. once you have progressed through the linear story, theres NOTHING else to do. you just aimlessly wonder around. you can click on the characters, but there are no options to talk, or to catch them at different times a day in different rooms, being able to revisit sex scenes that way. sure they navigate throughout the house on their routines at different times. but there is ZERO interactions to be had outside of the LINEAR progression. once ya done ya done. which is a REAL SHAME. as this game could be GOD TIER, if i could REVISIT EVERY SCENE, through GAMEPLAY. further adding onto that replayability.

2. Theres nothing to do outside of the "Story". once ya done ya done. theres no replaying scenes through just playing the game, or any activities that make you wanna pick this back up again. its not a sandbox game.

3. Let me rename the main Playable character.


Summary
This game is a decent game, its ALRIGHT. reasons being the lack of actual sandbox gameplay. you have the annoying navigation of a sandbox, and the time changing, but ZERO of the sandbox benefits, ie.. repeatable scenes through re-interacting with characters. Its a visual novel with light exploration of the enviroment basically. and as said, its an alright game. however, that alright could be turned into an AMAZING game if they chose what they wanted to be. Choose Visual Novel, if youre gonna continue on your current trajectory, or make those changes with being able to revisit scenes through interacting with the characters in different rooms at different times. and add more to do around the house. as its a very linear NONE SANDBOX game. so embrace either or, as this isnt a sandbox game, nor is it a visual novel either. its a hybrid without any of the benefits from either, but all the cons of each. CHOOSE ONE.

This game could be 5 stars out of five. but due to the lack of replayability, and replayable scenes. i rate it a 3. the animations are great, art style great. story, meh. its not a story game really. characters are different and unique, likeable in their own ways. this is a game worth supporting, ill say that. but dont come in here expecting a sandbox title. its not.

Wishlist
1. Repeatable scenes through gameplay. you already have a time system, and exploration, and the characters have their routines. have it tie into those systems, with whatever room we interact with em will allow us to revisit whatever scenes have previously happened with said character in that room.

2. sleep creep scenes, even full sleeping sex. would be great to anally pound some of them.

3. more characters that we can bang that leans into either side. but specifically trans female, more femboys etc.

Its fine, it has good/ok art, characters are overall fine, I played only the VN not the free play but it was ok, good voice acting, even if it's just the start of the game with it, and impressed by some good ost

The options at the start of the game, about choosing which character you want/ fetishes that you like, is a very good feature

Now here are the problems that i have:
The porn scenes are pretty short, and even with more updates i don't think they'll get bigger

Not exactly fond of ntr, but i can take it, but atleast make the boyfriend a dick. Yeah i didn't pay much attention to the story, but he seemed pretty ok, like why would i want to screw over a good bro?

I played only dom path, personally i think the dom was pretty weak. Kinda expected something closer to My Hypnotized Family. The only content which was more in tune with what i wanted was with Linda and again, very short

The game starts and not much time after everyone is horny and wants to fuck the mc, i simply found it too fast, no need for the mc to make dom choices since your family is too horny. And yeah the mc is too much of a cuck idk, didn't like him

It's fun; does it tread any new ground? No, but it does everything the stuck-in-a-house incest genre of games should do excellently, and it does at least have the wherewithal to give convincingly different stereotypes than usual. If you like this genre, you will like this.

Steaming pile of shit. Even ~not bad art style and picture ""quality"", will not save this abomination from how utterly bad it is. Low-effort, talentless, cheap, uncreative, boring, done in haste or at the same time too tardy, and etc, etc, etc. Any of these adjectives will describe this "project" in plenty.
You can add any amount of air quotations to any aspect of the """game""" other than art (and to it sometimes too) and it still won't convey how inadequate it is. And sad thing is, it's just not inadequate. Not peak, not "fun" (like, Room), not interesting, not in "sciency" or in any other way, it's just ~some kind of mid. Whatever. Just whatever.
I regret the time I've spent on this. I could "kick rocks" for days and that still would've been more productive way of spending my time.
Avoid this. Download pics, if you care that much. (not like out there are hundreds- of artists with the same, worse or better/more refined art style)

Gotta say, definitely one of my favorite games I've found on this site. Although that list isn't the most exclusive, so do take that with a grain of salt.

The amount of customizability you get in this is very impressive. Most games tend to either stick to one path, or try to have it both ways and flounder around and fail because of it, but this one still seems to be going strong! Plus, being able to pick between having a femboy and another girl (or whatever inbetweens floats your boat) is an awesome feature, and again, handled very smoothly. You can even change it in the settings menu! And being able to turn on/off the Netori is also a plus.

The art is great, but I do admit that's a subjective thing.

The day-based structure made me worry I was going to miss some things because of it, but because of the task journal thingy, I wasn't worried once I actually got to playing. And without that issue, the day-based format is all plusses! And it helps crack down on scope creep, too, so I doubt you'll see this dev going the way of many before and losing themselves to a scope-creeped multi-year-long update schedule or something like that.

The character dynamics and story are also great. Not, like, artistically compelling, but good! Funny characters, and an overarching plotline that's actually motivating.

A good premise and a fun afternoon game if you've got nothing to do. What I appreciate is the choice to engage in certain content or not. Unlike most the dev at least gives you that choice. Art is unique on its own and does pull the attention. Hope to see more soon from this dev.

I went for bottom path on everyone, and I gotta say that it's been pretty well done! I enjoyed the voicelines although be warned, there aren't many.

Thus far, the (While limited) voice acting is impeccable, great work. The visuals aren't overly complicated, but that only helps the charm of the game. The characters are great, the UI is easy to use and thoroughly explained. And the story, while slacking off near the end was still great. (It had a slow leadup, but just immediately jumped into the more sexual stuff with characters it just didn't fit with yet, therefore I felt it was a bit rushed. Maybe I just don't understand how humans work though lmao. Addison = The best)
