Anyone have any good tutorials on how to make 3D Meshes from AI?
The tech is not good enough yet, at least the stuff available to hobbyists.

There's some demos hacked together based on a 2023 scientific paper that explored a 2d image ->3d mesh + textures, that are available on hugging face: .

These suck for anything beyond very basic mobile-game quality assets (think angry birds/clash royale style), and even then are just regurgitating training data rather than genuinely making a "good" asset mesh/skin.

There are also at least a half-dozen tryhard startups with largely faked demos who would love to take your money:

I'm not grumpy, I'm just coded that way.

And the tech that is good enough is not affordable for them, and anyway don't actually works with only one 2D image as entry.

In fact, it will never actually give good result with only one 2D image, unless its one took from the side. Yet the result would be symmetrical, and therefore not totally realistic even if the AI achieve to correctly guess the distance implied by the color variations.
