The silhouette and basic curves/shapes look good. I find with painted art that higher contrast tends to work out better, as well as harder edges with the shading. Even with realistic shading, I often find that artist make a piece look interesting by having the subject lit by a high contrasting main light or key light, or to add contrast using a spectrum of colors.
