UPD.: Thank you to everyone who has contacted me this past week! The position of the programmer is finally occupied! We still need the help of an interface designer, though, so that this game's UI can become unique among similar projects.

Hey, how do you do, fellow horny inmates? I'm looking for a team of enthusiasts who would want to work on the project described below.

Project:

The provisional name of the project is the Chronicles of the Forgotten Islands. This name is subject to change in the future, once the development commences and the game is beginning to get fleshed out. CFI is a text-based erotic adventure RPG that will take place in a fantasy world inhibited by numerous genre-typical races and creatures. The player will assume control over a nameless amnesiac hero, or heroine, and get to explore the world alongside them as well as a team of up to three companions at a time.

Currently, the project is in the concept stage of development. Last month, I’ve been cobbling together a design document that outlines the basic features of the project. The link to the Google Docs document can be found . This document can also give you a more complete description of the project, as well as who I’m currently looking for to establish a development team.

Developer:

I am but a novice in game development, and as such, I’m yet to attain any tangible experience in any field, even in writing, which I consider my main trade. My only involvement in adult games is a couple of smaller-scale written scenes for Degrees of Lewdity. In my spare time, I’ve written a couple (literally) of pieces for Literotica. One of the two published chapters can be found ; it can serve as an illustration of my writing style.

I’m yet to have a Patreon, and I only plan to create one as soon as (or rather, if) I manage to find qualified associates for a team to work on the Chronicles of the Forgotten Islands. I also don’t have a personal Discord server. Once again, I will only proceed to launching one after the development starts and begins to bear fruit (not financially, but developement-wise). For now, I only have a Discord account (see below).

Looking for:

At the moment (!), I’m looking for programmers and UI artists (I'm planning to act as the sole writer for now), to actually kick off the development. I’m leaning towards using Unity as the game’s engine, but I can be persuaded to use a different software in case the alternative can support my presented game vision (see the document above). In the future, I will also look for artists for character portraits and backgrounds (probably on a commission basis, unless there are artists who will be willing to properly join the development), composers and sound designers, as well as for additional writers and editors.

Employment Type:

As mentioned above, I intend to create a Patreon for fundraising. In case the project makes it big and people are willing to donate, I will share the profits with the development team. In other words, I don’t promise to pay the team members in the beginning, but if the project gains a loyal fanbase, I will make sure to requite for services.

Work commitment:

Now this is tricky. I definitely want this project to exist for a long time (I have nine regions in mind, each of them quite big and diverse), and I want this game to keep its original identity throughout its lifetime, so I would want the team members to treat their participation as a part-time occupation, especially the coders. I am not wearing rose-coloured glasses and realise that asking so much of people is a bit too much, but if everything went smoothly, I’d want everyone to prioritise this project over others.

Preferred method of contact:

Like specified above, I have a Discord account (YetAnotherUser#2505). This should be the primary means of personal and team communication; however, I also have an e-mail (yetanotheruser1@yandex.ru). You can also send me a message on this site, if you want to. If I happen to notice a notification, I’ll surely reply!

Job Description:

Mirroring the information from above, I am currently looking for programmers and UI artists, prioritizing the former. I need programmers (preferably with prior experience in working with Unity, or other engine) to help me set up the groundwork for further development first, and then, to continuously work on the project’s mechanics. As for UI artists, I need them to create stylised user interface fragments, such as menus, buttons, etc. If you both work on UI and draw art, it’d be a huge plus, for we could integrate more content into the initial release.

Additional comments:

I’ve tried to pack as much information as I could here, but if you have any questions, feel free to contact me! Also, please, keep in mind that English is not my mother tongue, and I live in a non-English speaking country, so time zones can become an obstacle (it's currently 14:40 as I post the thread). If I haven’t replied to you straightaway, please, wait for some more time. Also, don’t forget to have a look at the design document. It will show what the current vision of the project is, as well as other important information for both future developers and players.

I can offer my services as a writer and/or editor if need be. I've experience in programming in Ren'py for the most part and fiddled in GODOT and GMS2 a bit. I've not yet gotten around to figuring out Unity though I'd like to give that a shot at some point. My schedule will be a bit sporadic since I'm in college but I'm mostly looking to get experience in the field.

Hello, DragonTrickery! I'll keep in mind that you could fill the position of a writer or an editor.

Wow, the design doc is certainly highly detailed. Well done on that part. This game is certainly well-planned. However, I noticed the scope is fairly large. And, yes, it looks like neither Renpy nor Twine can get you your vision. Unity is an option, but it is fairly heavy-weight and requires actual trained programmers hundreds of hours to build a single compelling feature. Not only that, you need experienced, motivated programmers who know more than just isolated building tech-demos, to bring all the features together into a high-quality product. The technical requirement alone is a project killer. It's especially risky since, you, as the manager, don't have any technical expertise at all.

As-is, the scope of this project is seemingly bigger than CoC and TiTs. Since you are just starting out, I would recommend you to try to limit the scope to something fairly basic, so it's accomplishable by a small team and yet is fun to play. Perhaps pare down some of the more advanced UI so it can be fit within Twine, where you get most of what you need right-out-of-the-box, for free.

Good luck!

Can you imagine being such a chad to the point of writing this beautiful Dev Document?

Well, maybe I am wearing rose-coloured glasses after all, at least when it comes to the current vision. In my head, this game doesn't strike me as something that special gameplay-wise (I'm more fearful about the amount of engaging writing we would need for quests and general descriptions; but that's probably because I'd be the one doing most of it in the beginning), but yeah, it is always better to have experienced coders who know what they're doing and won't end up producing hideous spaghetti that doesn't even work in the end. We'll see how it goes, plans rarely go as planned after all! Thank you for wishing good luck!

I'd feel even chadier if writing it didn't take pretty much a whole month, given how generalized it is. But thank you for the compliment nonetheless!

Good news, everyone! I have finally found a programmer who will be responsible for coding the game. Presently, my primary concern is the UI, because, unless we manage to find a specialising artist, we will have to either make it extra minimalistic or use available free assets, should we find any suitable ones. One way or another, thank you to everyone who has shown interest in working on this project so far!
