Looking to make an HTML game totally from scratch and need community input...

Alright so, I’m about to start working on my first HTML game ever and figured it’d be a good idea to get input from the community because there’s going to be a fairly significant difference in my method of game creation. Rather than scavenging existing porn clips from the internet, I’m going to be hiring actual girls/actresses to make vids specifically for this game. And in addition to the girls being paid upfront for their work in front of the camera, they’ll also be getting a cut of the game’s profits. So Patreons/supporters of the game will be supporting the real girls they’re fans of for a change and will have opportunities to talk and ask questions of the girls themselves online. Additionally, since everything is being shot specifically for the game supporters can have a much bigger impact on the game’s content if there’s a big enough demand to see something specific.



Obviously this is all kind of a big undertaking for me since I’m working out of my house in a small town with girls who’ve never done any kind of porn before and very in the way of an initial budget, so any and all input will be appreciated. Does this sound like something that people could get behind and support even if the girls look more like the cute chick you see at the store rather than a model from a magazine? Would it be better to go with the tried and true focus on incest, or are people ready for something different (and if so, what)? Would people prefer a slow build up that focuses at least somewhat on realism, or jump right into the mix with balls to the wall craziness? Any specific preference on the vids being POV or 3rd person? Should I wait till the first release is done to start up a Patreon so that everyone can see it’s legit before contributing, or would it be better to start up the Patreon early so the potential increase in budget can expedite the games first release? I’m looking for literally any/all constructive advise in regards to anything remotely game related because I have zero experience with this kind of thing but want to do it as right as I can strait out of the gate since early on I’ll be financing this out of my own pocket and the game’s success/failure will impact not only myself but also the girls who’re featured in the game.

Also, I know that people are generally against grinding but does that mean it’s better to totally omit things like skills and progression, or would it be preferable to simply streamline such things so they don’t end up feeling like daily chores?

hello there, i juste created a thread about it, thx to cul i was redirected to your thread to maybe give you my opinion.

first of all I'm gonna give tou some point that i think deserve attention:

- I think what is important in those is the "gamepley loop" ( "boucle de gameplay" in french but i don't know how to say it in english). I could define that to the action that you tend to do in order to keep progressing. It must be rewarding and clear. for exemple, you wake up, take a meal, go to work, take a shower, talk to people arround you and go to sleep is a simple one. to make it rewarding, players must find an intrest in doing it, such as (of couse) cash and/or also by little scenes that would make you want to see them all (exemple : a friends of mine is doing that). That way, even grinding can have an intrest.

- one of the biggest issues of these games are the objectives that are not explicit. We should at least understand a little bit what we are truly doing something and not just "wait and see". even if your plot is not impressive of deepness, if the objectives are clear, and if your story advance when you meet them, that's good. you can improve it latter if you want.

- now i'm gonna talk about the choice of the videos. the fact that you want to use model that you will make shoot is a good thing. that way we know why we are progressing on each character story. if we are progressing on your classmate story which is a white blonde and flat character and the sex scene with her is with a big titted lattina, i don't see the point to progress on the character story. the more identity you give to your character, the more we wan't to know about them. so about that you won't have a problem.

- I don't think giving sex scenes without true context or players input is good. i think the build up is important. that way, tou progress step by step and you reach contend that you like surely but not to fast. A good exemple (but maybe is taking a little bit too mucj time) is paradise found. we deserve the sexy times and that make us want to go further.

now let's talk about your project. First of all be aware that if you create a patreon, your game will finish here and you won't recive money from it (it's a pirate site after all) so you must find a way to make people wanting to support you (some games use cheat panels you can't activate for exemple) so you must think of this. I'm sad to say to you people won't put money on this without a proof of what type of game you are developping. so felle free to create at least a demo version of your game to present your project.

I think choosing your own models would be an excellent point to play your game more than an other (if the girls are not pronstar i find it even more interesting because at least that is completly fresh contend and they will seem more natural wich is goof) but i must have a reserve on the economical health of all of this. I strongly doubt the fact thatyou will find a healthy way to make profit on your game enough to pay them.

You must know that if you create a patreon you will have a problem with the "incest" if you want to put it inside, but you could create a patch that would change it on the side so don't worry too much about it. Incest is not an obligation, if you wan't to put it inside, go for it, if you don't, that's all good. Yiu must also know that incest is quite popular though (just look at pornhub most viewed videos or popular ones)

for realism or fantasy type, YOU must think about it. If you think it will be easier to write scenes and history about normal people and reality type storie, go for it, if you think fantasy is easier, go for it. It doesn't matter trully. you must know that fantasy types tends to be easier and more common. The most important part is your characters to have personality.

for POV or 3rd person, you can choose. You can go full POV or full 3rd person, or mix. It depends on what perspective is more interesting for each scenes.

Firstly, you're a goddam hero if you're actually shooting your own porn for an HTML game, that much is certain. Just hope you don't end up knocking over a bank to sustain the costs.

As for the topic of what people would want, well obviously the prospect of basically having your own actors/actresses on call to do basically whatever you want is a huge asset and general draw, almost no matter what you actually do with them. Subject matter wise, you'll have unlimited creativity; the exact angles both photographically and thematically are entirely up to you or your writer, so long as your actors decide to keep acting. I legitimately think you can market just about any idea to any crowd if you word it correctly, but subject matter wise I'd either stick with something simple so your actors can work within their means, or embrace the camp and go for something a bit wackier like mind control or normalized nudism or something, just pick what you like (and what you can write effectively if that's your job). Its your game at the end of the day, so research a bit and see if you pick up on certain patterns that you can imitate if necessary (most of the 'top grossers' involve building harems as far as I can tell, beyond that they are all over the place thematically). Have fun with it.

A word of advice though, don't expect a whole lot of donators before you've got some goodies to show off. I fully understand the desire and advantage that pre-funding a project can have but, despite what some of the users on this site may have to say regarding Patreons, most people won't just piss away money on an idea. If you can effectively build a small starter project with your actors just sitting in a chair and waving at the camera or something to save some cash and show off a proof of concept, do that. It'll give you something to show and it'll probably be a fuckload cheaper short-term.

Short note on the gameplay side of things, grinding doesn't have to be a net negative thing, so long as there's an efficient path from Point A to B. I for one am perfectly fine with pressing "next day" 20 times to get the cash I need to buy a nuclear rubber or something but when that process is artificially extended out to a long string of menus ie. "Leave House -> Go To Town -> Go To Store -> Talk to Tits on Legs -> Wage Slave -> Leave Store -> Go Home -> Enter Bedroom -> Sleep" ad infinitum, as opposed to just "Go to Work"and "Sleep" buttons or something, that's when we start to have issues. There's a time and place for depth, but repetitive tasks should not EVER be hidden behind anything more than knee-high depth. In my opinion of course.

Awesome idea (and of course one that has some additional benefits).

One thing to look at is that Patreons really like 'making of' content; the stuff that gets most likes is usually my WIP shots or videos on process. For you that's trivial to do; record *everything*, then edit it down and release it as weekly drops to your patreons. So the players get to see the 'final' content, but the Patreons also get to see the girls getting dressed up for a shoot, interviews, them discussing the scene with you, etc. All that content fits naturally as Patreon exclusive content, provide excellent value towards becoming a Patreon, and is really cheap for you to produce.

If only I could convince my wife to let me do the same... :)

It depends on a lot of factors. Such as acting ability and whatever they're doing.

Incest is popular now because people who are into incest pay for porn more than others do. If your goal is to make the most money, then gay furry is currently the checkbook king.

My fetish is impregnation, so that would be nice. But I also don't usually pay for projects so there you are.

If the writing is good both ways are fine. Since your (ambitious) plan is to use local women you're probably going to keep things pretty soft for a while. Unless this waitress you're talking into porn is totally cool with being fucked on camera for the internet. I imagine if you manage to talk someone into doing this they'll be more likely to talk dirty or suck on a dildo than anything 'crazy'.

You can make a patreon whenever. People might contribute or they might not but you won't get less support because you made something early. Don't expect a lot of support until you have a significant project (probably).

Spend some time learning how to code this game. Make practice projects and learn the twine system. Before you spend a dime I would 100% create the project with placeholder images/videos and have your actors be the last piece as thats going to be the hardest piece of this by far.

Also, since you plan is to hire local girls to be your actresses, you're venturing into porn producer territory. You're going to want to have the legal contracts and legalities in place for when your actresses want more money, or want their images taken down. If you live in some shithole then I guess you can do whatever, but if your ass is currently sitting in the United States then there are a million legal issues you need to consider.


TLDR: Look up legal stuff. Make a prototype before you pay some bartender to wank you off on camera.

Awesome advice everyone, thanks and I'll keep it all in mind moving forward. I'm going to see if I can get some kind of short demo set up and shot in the near future, but peope can still feel free to weigh in if someone thinks of anything else.
