Ren'Py - Lovely Academy [v0.1.9] [CastleStudios]

Picking this one up once again was a mistake, I had tried it a long time ago before it got put "on hold" and remember being impressed by the renders which are really good, but the way it is going now is just..... let's just say, not good.

The sandbox, I know it is stupid to go to a sandbox game and complain about the sandbox, but it is just bad, instead of adding something to the game, it just ends up being tiresome and annoying.

I could put up with that for the renders if the characters weren't so bad as well, and the game a mess, so much that we find ourselves making decisions for another male character (another MC???) out of nowhere, the dev seems to have found a sudden love of lesbianism as well and has made it kind of the main theme of the game since this new update, introducing an annoying and extremely unlikable Mary Sue character that is better than the protagonist in every way and seems to replace the role of the MC in seducing his romantic targets, taking them to dinner, stripping them, checking them out, go with them to drink alcohol at night, all while the actual MC watches from the corner hiding..... Fcks sake, why? Just, why

Not an enjoyable experience at all and a huge change from what the game was originally looking to be, or what I was expecting, at least from what I remember. It is a shame because these renders and the look of the female characters is incredible and in a better story/game they could have had a lot of success. I honestly don't know who he is trying to appeal to with this change of direction but imo it is just not good.
2 stars for the renders. Would have given it 3 if the sandbox wasn't so bad.

I'm really enjoying Lovely Academy! The story has me hooked, especially because the characters are so interesting. All the girls are definitely standouts; they are gorgeous.

The visuals are also impressive. The character models are beautiful. The environments are well-designed. The animation is smooth and adds to the overall experience.

Overall, this is a fantastic game! It easily gets 9 out of 10 from me. The characters are engaging, the story is interesting, Definitely worth checking out!

Truly intolerable sandbox. The renders are pretty good; arguably the best 'anime' style AVN i've seen. But good lord - this sandbox is impossible to navigate. Nonstop wandering around, with absolutely no option to skip the inane and pointless fetch quests that are handed out by every character in every scene. Terrible. Just terrible.

Awfully bad, gameplay is boring and annoying, sandbox can be good, but in this case it is badly implemented making the experience unbearable and frustrating.
characters are unlikeable and extremely cliche, they act like some pornstars that got paid to do lesbian stuff in a bad low cost porn film and MC feels like a background character that'll be used as a dildo from time to time. All over the place, Raven the predatory lesbian seems like it will be a kind of second protagonist that will have her way with most of the women here as well, so unless you like sharing with lesbians, you wont like this, just like I dont. The writing/story also bad, of course the characters themselves dont help in this either, because you dont care about them in the first place .
Content is forced, you end up making choices for some "random" characters for some reason???? Yep, dont know whats going on.
The only positive aspect, and the reason I gave this a go, is the visuals, women are hot, etc. But that cant carry the whole game when it is such a mess that doesnt know what it wants to be.

Many people are killing the game for THEIR OWN TASTES which should not influence a rating. Don't you like sandboxes? DON'T DOWNLOAD A SANDBOX GAME, don't you like lesbians? DO NOT SEE ITS CONTENT, apparently many around here believe that each game should please its own fetishes. The game complies and also fails, but in my opinion there are more successes than failures. It's worth a try.

sorry, but this game is just awfully bad.

it is sandbox, yet there is no hints, and the game expects from us to do things in certain predetermined order, so what exactly would be a point of sandbox part then? if not for that fabulous "this is everything for this update" notification when you click on every other object/person on various scenes.

it is in development for a long time, yet there are game breaking bugs (an endless loop, for example) from the very start...related to predetermined/kinetic "setup".

it isnt labeled as "multiple protagonists" yet it has multiple male protagonists making in-game decisions for no obvious reasons.

the story is kinda messed up, if there is story at the first place. one thing is certain, there are enforced characters, as mc-s halfsister (or whatever she could be) akane, for example. you dont like her? too bad, she is integral and mc has to love her and spend as much time with her as possible.

there is almost no adult content, though there are some hot characters, milfs above everything else.

not worth trying&wasting time...i made a mistake, you dont have to follow in my steps.

Really impressed with what I've seen so far.

Good quality renders good models and textures. Varied models too. I only like Akane and the redhead so far, with the others seeming to have over the top cow tits and ass.

The writing is good, theres a thought out story and no engrish. Rarer than you might think, if youre new here

I love sandboxes and this one is reasonable, the hidden arrows to navigate are a bit annoying and theres almost no actual freedom in the sandbox yet, but it looks like it could end up excellent

This is a game worth supporting. Dev is a talent artist and will hopefully improve game coding as time goes on.

I hope the dev avoids the pitfall that many games fall into where dozens of girls are introduced whose content is sparsely spread out (mile wide, inch deep). If you want a proper slow burn, then there needs to be narrative focus to accompany.

Looks verry good ! Looking forward to it, the renders are pretty unique and the characteres design... just awesome, the story is pretty so far and do have a good future ! I hope the devs gonna be aware because the game do have a lot of potential.

Three stars!! Just for the render alone tho, everything else is a 0, not because is bad, but because there is nothing yet, odd too, cuz 3 plus gigs for little to no content at all. I guess all the resources went to all the girls' boobs or something

Lovely Academy is on of the best adult games and it really stands out with render quality and crazy good animations. I am looking forward to se how will it develop in the future, cus it has a lot of potential.

as if its now, its other more of the same genre, but why i give it 3 is because the excesive size of it, its only the 0.1.2 ver and already 4 gigs, that is not ok, i know there is an android version but still the priority should be the pc ver, specially the way of compression of the game so it can be available easier on the first steps of development that is right now

a game that I follow very closely, the girls are beautiful, the story is quite interesting and the renders are incredible too, in short, a very good game, I see a lot of future for it and I recommend it.

Great game, I look forward to new updates, the artwork is fantastic, the look of the characters magnificent and the story has a good future. It entertains you with puzzles when it comes to finding objects relevant to the story and has several decisions that lead to meet different characters or focus on the already known, which makes it even more interesting.

There is not much to the game qualified for 5 stars.

Story? Come on... there is nothing special... father dead, boy moves in with mother and family... yeah well, never heard before hm? And than some mysteries comes up including murder... and of course its up to the MC to solve this, uff... thats not a good story its dumb and very far fetched.

Sex? There is nothing... Dialogues? Well... nothing said in this game is in any case entertaining or important... there are even things that dont make any sense like for example "Emma makes a nice Dinner" well, there is no Emma in the game. And many other things like that... all the dialogues are pretty much pointless... the dev could pretty much make scene where the sun is shining and let the characters say "well the sun is shining" overall the dialogues have this kind of content.

Postive? The Renders, yep they are awesome... but the one and only good about the game, everything else is either not existent or bad. or annoying (like the sandbox, cause... just why?)

Its an early game so far, but i dont see much promising here besides the renders... but a visual novel, be it a porn game or not, cant just live only out of renders, there has to be something else... and this game has nothing else besides the renders... so no, its not a 5 star game, especially not compared to REALLY good games with actual content.

I mean... if you rate THIS 5 stars, what about the real good games out there? 50000 stars? 5 is the best rating possible, and this game isnt even close to that. its acutally in a poor state so far, cause there is nothing to experience so far... and how the dialogues are written and the poor and dumb story starts, there is just no way how this game will turn into something really good.

Review for v0.1

Pretty short but an interesting start so far. What probably stands out most is the great renders, and I like the character designs so far. I can appreciate the MC not looking super generic or like a goblin too. It also has music which is always nice. You can tell the game takes some inspiration from things (like the opening scene which is very Persona 5 vibes)

I like sandbox games, but I would hope a map gets added at some point as clicking around a bunch to figure out where to go can get very tedious. The dialogue sometimes reads a bit weird (at least in English), and in the same vein, I feel like the way some of the characters act in general just feels a bit off which is probably my biggest issue so far. Also I'm sure other people have pointed this out but the way some of the scenes don't progress automatically when it seems like they should is a bit annoying. A few times I would wait for the scene to continue not realizing it was waiting for me to click. It's a small issue all things considered but it gets old fast.

Overall though, I think the game has potential and that's part of why I'm giving it a higher rating. This appears to be the developers first game, so once those problems get ironed out and they find their flow I can see this game turning into something great. Excited to see where this goes!

Excellent renders and graphics. Good looking MC. MC is like the character who appears in anime and every girls in that anime simps for him. He is really good looking. Excellent game for Weebs and otakus. But this one seems like chinese. For the story part I can't say that much for now. Gameplay is short. A sandbox game but I didn't experienced any bugs. One thing I didn't understand is what's with motako is she really have some superpower or is it used for humor like in animes. But there is mystery tag in this game. But I really enjoyed playing this game.

I did everything I could to do in terms of route and history in this version 0.1.1...

So the game has good graphics, but it has a problem, despite not owning the sandbox tag, it has sandbox elements and these elements are poorly deployed within the game, the movement options do not work right and lacked polishing and refining in this system within the game... The protagonist has a nice look and the story is still at the beginning, there is not much to say initially.

Below will be my grades for each category, where 10 is the top score:

Verdict: It is possible that in the next update the problems with the sandbox elements are fixed, so I will follow.

Pretty short game but its just the into/demo. Good so far. Love the girls designs, they all look great. MC also at least unique, girls too. Lots of games use the same models but at least here everyone is unique. As far as the games I have played anyway.

Story - N/A (so far) in game there isnt much but from the overview it seems promising, mystery is great but as the game just released more as a demo not much has happened yet. So no rating yet.

Renders - 5/5 The girls are gorgeous, MC looks good too.

Environment - 5/5 (so far) Not a lot available yet but the house, alley and the store with the wine all look good.

Music and sound - 5/5 I typically mute my games as I play and watch podcasts but if music is available or sounds I play with it to see how well it is, I was satisfied despite it being just a short demo. Im sure in the future it will be fine.

Gameplay - 4/5 I typically dont like sandbox point and click stuff. It really just serves as a time waster and causes bugs. Some elements are fine but as the game is rather short in the first release, I do not yet know how extensive this will be in the game. So far its fine but we will see.

Bugs - Right now its just that when you switch the language to english, some menue test stays in spanish. But the game dialogue you actually read is english and seems to be written well. Unlike many of the "engrish" games that get released.
