Ren'Py - Lunar's Chosen [Ep.2 v0.6 Public] [PTGames]

It's a decent 4,5/5 game.
Kudos for some great Futa on male scenes.

When I begin Part 1 of this game, I didn't know it had Futa on male in this amounts, but damn if I am not happy about it.

Other scenes look very nice too.

A veritable hidden gem.

Although, it could use some polishing:
1. Story lines and photoshoots being available only at the specific days and times of the day is shit.
Just remove it and it will be 10/10, instead of "sitting there the whole week skipping days, waiting for that Sunday evening and then wait for another Sunday evening, even though you did complete all of Katie's quests as your number 1 priority".

2. Lot's of missed opportunities.
Many of the characters will have some sexual scenes, that would be hot, but were only present as a secret image (unique and without text).

3. Sure thing, an in-built guide helps a lot, but it doesn't help with side-quests like: Breeding a vampire girl back to the living world or Helping Phoenix with research.

4. Imry.
Why the hell do we even need Imry in the game? What is her purpose?
I am not against her looks, or the content she offers, but I would much prefer Katie in her place.

Also, it makes a precedence, that I hope won't be followed in Part two: where we get a new girl to make regular threesomes with existing ones.

In that case, just make more regular scenes or nourish existing threesomes with Gender-bender MC,
(4) that can make it happen, but doesn't want to even try developing his magic powers.

There is a chance, some of those will be fixed in Part 2, but Savior of the wasteland, although good, doesn't give much promise for Part 2 of Lunar's Chosen.

So... you'd want to play as a chosen of the god? Feel some super powers, develop your magic, be powerful? Yeah, that's not here. Dev decided that MC will be blessed by gods power, but don't want us to develop it almost at all. Other characters are getting stronger, train their powers, but you can't, because others want to steal your power. There are plenty of possibilities to use it in plot (some of the ideas was mentioned by LIs and even used at smaller scale), but dev just decided to avoid it and make MC some kind of support. The worse, it's rather a mental support for his harem instead of having real supporting powers like enchanting others or protecting them with spells. You'll only read minds. Very occasionally. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of magic. Just don't expect MC using it.

Idea of plot and some points or cliffgangers are entertaining, but pacing is very questionable and sometimes it lack of logic. For ~6 years old game you'd expect much bigger progress. It's rather a fuckfest and meeting various girls, which is ok for a porn game, but making it kind of average. There are just plenty other games that offer player a fuckfest, but ngl, for a quite a long time it's a nice fuckfest. It gets a lil bit boring later, but seen worse. One more thing. I think that part of this game is political. Be prepared to read about moral talks about people with insecurities or original kinks. At some point it was even too obvious.

Characters are very well written and develop nicely (IMO Megis the best example), that's a big bonus in this game which kept me playing. They all have their personalities and don't cross each other characters. There are few things that connect them like huge love for MC or being nymphos, but hey, that's a harem porn game. Personally I wouldn't mind a character that's more sheltered, don't want to involve in threesomes or orgies and is more conservative and fuckable only by MC. Just for adding a variety, because after some time they all become the same about sex and in second chapter or maybe even at late first, it started being a lil bit boring - as boring that I started skipping some sex scenes.

It's hard to review this game. At the beginning it was 3- max for me, but gave it a chance. About half of first chapter it became 4, when game got some pace and characters developed. Unfortunatelly the pace's gone almost completely at second chapter and LIs became boring and predictable. I'm giving 4 now with hopes that plot will move forward and make this game exciting again, but ngl, it's 4- or maybe even 3+.

Yeah, some characters (and their kinks) might raise an eyebrow—or both. It gets weird. But that’s part of the charm. The plot? Out there. The pacing? Questionable. But if you’re in it for the steamy action and don’t mind a few “what the hell?” moments, then this game is Solid.

Verdict: A fun little fuckfest wrapped in a Ren'Py flavored click-fest.

An incredibly bloated, overdone, crappy VN that should have ended years ago.

A billion underdeveloped characters all progressed through the shittiest trigger hunting around the map and UI, powered by mediocre writing that makes it hard to feel for any of the myriad characters. Oh and mid renders. You rarely if ever get an animation and it's bad if you do.

Also, some unavoidable kink. Since you need to be fuckin with everyone to progress the main story, which itself is a design failure. Say you like one character, well their progress is tied to 20 other characters so have fun hunting the specific zone and time that character is in, like a dozen times to progress that story so you can progress another character which finally unlocks the one you want. Until the next time this happens.

Thoroughly enjoyed the first episode. The story, the lewd scenes were fantastic. The first episode left on such a great cliffhanger that I couldn't wait for the second season.
The second episode started off great and even some of the story is okay. But I haven't come across a single animated scene and barely any renders to fill the scenes.
I'm all for playing a story heavy avn. But when one revolves around sex as much as this one does..... do better. Super annoying

Excellent game! The models are done really well, there is a lot of content that covers a wide range of interests and fetishes. I would love to see more Hillda content in the future, and hopefully will see more in episode 2!

There are a lot of things i like about this. Like the models, the kinks, the characters.

But the sandbox damn near ruins it for me. I hate using guides as it takes me out of the game but using the in game hints are basically required. Most of the characters will be available every day....except for katie, many of whose main events are on weekends. Meaning you need to skip through a week to progress with her.
Which could be fine except when characters progression is tied together. So, I want to progress with Meg. To do that I must get further with Serena, to do that i must get further with Amber, to do that i must hang out with Katie on Saturday afternoon specifically. Now there are other sandboxes that does this to a degree where finishing a specific character event is required to progress with another but I have never seen it done to this extend before, where it tied together the entire cast.

The end result is that the game is way more linear than it pretends to be and player agency is damn near an illusion as you must complete every characters events to progress them collectively. If there is a character that you do not like then you are basically shit outta luck.

i downloaded this due to the overwhelming amount of reviews and it being four stars. but after playing myself for over an hour, i dont understand why.. the main menu has you excited with the fluent and smooth animated woman dancing, to then be met with static animations in game, robotic in every sense of the word.. the most misleading game ever. how is your main menu gonna have better animations than your entire game?

the story was boring, the narrative was uninspiring, and the gameplay loop was tedious and boring. i wouldnt of minded so much, if the animations itself were as top notch and smooth as the main menu girl is. but they arent. so here we are.

dont let these reviews fool you. you have to do alot of mindless tasks, for lacklustre robotic sex scenes. meh

Renders are solid, there's very few choices, sandbox style is terrible when you have to do all the content anyway with no real choices. You'll have to keep checking the computer for what to do next, and these events are usually spread out in time/day so it's a lot of skipping time doing nothing which is never good design.

Still, a solid 4 stars, just because of how much content there is. It's not like any of it is terrible, it just lacks writing, freedom, story, choice etc. Ordinarily that's a lot of negatives and you'd think it's a low score, but the sheer breadth of material and the fact that it's quite a ways ahead of the majority of truly bad games on here keeps it at a solid score.

You could do a lot worse. There's only a handful that do better. I don't really recommend it as such, but if you're hardup for an adult game it's worth playing.

I enjoyed playing the game very much. I liked the possibilities, the Futa/Trans Content, the different fetishes and that you can decide if MC is top or bottom. That's a lot of gameplay and decisions, which really makes it very enjoyable for me to play.
With games like this, I always have the same problems. To trigger events only on one possible time in the week makes it boring, especially, when you have to skip a whole week, where nothing can happen, because you allready did all the other quests sucks.
Also I must mention, that the story unfolds a little bit to slow for me. I could be less or more in one event, so that you don't have to skip so many times. It would be great, when you could see somehow, if something new is happening or not, when you start an event. I saw some of them dozen times and they got boring.
Looking forward for the next episode. I hope it will happen soon.

I've enjoyed the story so far but really am put off by the amount of BDSM and fetish content. The gimp suits are surely not my thing. Too much of it IMO. The magic part though is entertaining. Less half a star for the amount of fetish content. 3.5 stars if I could.

Very long game with a lot of amazing contents. There are diverse fetishes included in the game and the gameplay does bring some surprise to me. For example, when you do some random walking in the park, you might be able to meet some new characters that is not in the main quest. I cannot wait for the next Episode.

After playing it for a while, I am a little bit disappointed by the story as well as the system. Even though there is a tons of content, I must say most of them are shot and lacks passion. I hope in the second episode, the author could work on background music as well as polishing the system.

Review for Lunar's Chosen v0.26 (Episode 1):

Overall: 3/5 - The game felt outdated in 2020 and it feels much worse today. It should've wrapped up by now, but instead, the story went in several directions and it turned into ongoing series. If individual updates had a theme and offered their own closure, an ongoing series might be enjoyable, but updates are just as fragmented as the story. There are too many kinks. Even if you like specific kinks, there's only a small chance you get to experience them in each update. The only way to actually enjoy this game is to play it about once per year, and that's probably what I'm going to do, if I bother to play Episode 2 at all [edit: I've decided this game just isn't for me].

Story: 2/5 - The supernatural/fantasy story seems to be trying to include every supernatural/fantasy theme the author has ever read about. It does a decent job of trying to include various kinks, but it doesn't focus enough on anything. It's just too fragmented and randomly hops from one thing to the next while the main story progression is slow. I think the slow story progression is intentional, but it's really unsatisfying.

Writing: 4/5 - The writing is quite good, but it can't really shine without a coherent story.

Renders: 4/5 - This might be generous, but I like the models. Some of the renders don't seem very detailed or high-resolution, but the characters always look good. The backgrounds are a little too sparse/plain most of the time, though.

Animations: 4/5 - Animations are better than average (they got better in later updates), but even the newer animations still look a bit dated.

Content: 3/5 - This one is kind of hard to evaluate. The game has too many kinks, so if you don't like them all, a lot of the content is worthless, plus the content for the various storylines is delivered in trickles so it's also hard to enjoy anyway. Quality of lewd content is below average. Sex scenes are short and not very passionate.

Sound: 3/5 - Background music is better than average, but there are controls for sound and voice and I don't remember ever hearing any.

Gameplay: 2/5 - The sandbox UI is rudimentary, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just looks dated. However, the problem is the sandbox doesn't add any enjoyment to the game, it's just there and in your way most of the time. Some parts of the sandbox UI are really annoying, like the quest/hint system only being available from the computer in the MC's bedroom, and the cell phone only being available from the pool area (WTF?).

Bugs: 4/5 - Bugs have been extremely rare. I remember hitting a bug early on, but nothing since.

Sorry to say but this game is anything but good. Would not say it is the worst thing but the dev seems to really try to get that title.

The biggest problem for me is the story. It is just a mess of ideas and bounces all over the place. Nothing feels to fit and stuff is just happening because the dev decided on it. Like girls you meet will just fuck you without reason and I know it is a porn game but for example, you find a girl in the park running she says fuck you. The next day you are in the park and the girl is there too and says sorry that she had a bad day because she was cheated on and if she can suck your dick and you say yes.

That is the level of writing in this one. You show up they fuck and you are done. Other stuff don't make sense you meed a demon girl once and then never again but you also take pictures in a studio so you invite demon girl to strip for you...

So yeah... Also the sandbox is really stupid in this one and every 5 secondes you check the laptop for hints and you will grind a lot because you need to skip time to get to events.

Not a fan...

diving into this, this seriously feels next-level awesome with the kinks and characters. the characters are decently well-written.

Now, let's talk romance. lunars chosen is a total champ when it comes to romance options. you've got everything from sweet and slow to hot and passionate

Bottom line is lunars chosen is a game you can't afford to miss, especially if you're into romance that feels legit and tons of kinks.

I can't give this game more than 4/5, and that's with full credit for its kinks many of which I happen to be into. When I wrote the original review below I had completed maybe half of the content -- it's hard to tell how far you are through the game. But the second half drags even while introducing new characters; the author just doesn't write compelling women who sound distinct. Instead, each girl is basically a scene dispenser with not a lot of build-up. Sandbox becomes increasingly tedious to the point of being a huge grind by the end. I usually like sandbox games but this is too much.

Futa as a genre has the potential to introduce gay/bi content, and this game is no exception. Where I have a problem is that this game is (1) very adventurous on that front (gender-bending, body swapping, futa on male, you name it), and (2) inconsistent about how well this content is gated off for players who don't want to deal with it. Some parts are outright gay, involving no futas or women at all and multiple men. This is going to be off-putting to people and the game really needs an intro section where you pick the things you just don't want to see up front. (Especially since some of the secret images are triggered by following various choices, and a few of the choices aren't super obvious about their content -- looking at you, three futas in the club.)

As far as MC goes, I agree with the reviewer below that he's too gender-ambiguous to be easy to identify with. This game is fundamentally a switch (in the BDSM sense) game leaning slightly sub, and catering to a dom audience only in bits and pieces. MC never feels "manly" in a real way.

The story and character development are both just weak -- meaning, nothing grabbed me. Meg is my favorite character and had some genuinely sweet moments, but it was too little too late: all the other girls sound the same, we get a constant supply of new, poorly-developed characters with a small number of scenes, and there's never any chemistry beyond superficial "wow we're such a hero" fluffing that doesn't ultimately count for much. MC isn't a believable hero and the girls seem to know it, but I guess they're willing to indulge him anyway. It's pretty bad on that front.

All of this is a shame because my comments about futa bondage/chastity stand: it's got some hot moments and a strong sense of adventure, and that's why I'm giving it 4/5 instead of 3/5. It's just extremely mediocre in plot, character development, pacing, and gameplay, and I ended up dropping it because it's a chore to play through and I lost my patience with the wet washrag of a main character. Great renders and theme, but everything else drags it down.

ORIGINAL REVIEW

Solid 5/5 if you're into what this game is offering, which is futa + bondage/chastity.

If you're into futas with chastity/bondage gear and dom/sub switching (your choice scene-by-scene which role you take), then it's pretty much unmatched. Even the match-the-pairs minigame is hot just due to the card images. The game has flaws, but nails this kink so hard that it's 100% worth it. (Note: you have to go pretty far into the game before you get to the good stuff, probably 10-15 hours.)

If you aren't into these things, then it's probably a 3-3.5/5. The pixel hunting to find secret images is a little too fiddly, progression is awkward, and it's not always obvious what impact your decisions will have (fortunately they're quick to observe, so you can roll back easily). MC is also a self-insert who has a stupid amount of plot-social-capital. I can suspend disbelief to an extent, but this game really strains it.

So yeah, I love the futa-bondage aspect and it's a 5/5 for me because it's rare to get a game that does it so well, but if this isn't your thing then I think you'll find it to be pretty meh.

That said, most of the ladies are lovely, and the game is worth a play, even if it is just to laugh at the horribly mis-created MC.

The Good

Ladies are varied and unique, and most are quite attractive. They each have their own motives and back story, and are completely wasted on this MC.
Renders start a bit rough but have gotten quite good. Visually the game is pleasing.
Sandbox is a bit of a grind, but not bad. In game hint system is pretty good at progressing the story.
Varied Fetishes for most folks, and most are avoidable. Though if you skip the Futa or Femdom scenes, you miss quite a bit of content.
Story and writing, aside from the joke of an MC, are pretty good.

The Not so Good

Have not played a dating sim with no music in a long time. Really need some tunes when dating the ladies.
There are lots of license free tracks that other Devs use in games like this. Feels pretty low effort.
Sexy sounds in the lewds would also be a great improvement.
Animations are not great.
Secret images are a bloody nightmare to find. This is done better in pretty much any other game that has hidden renders.
Could use more repeatable sex scenes with more options, to lessen the grind a bit later in the game.

So basically, aside from the lack of effort in the Audio department, and a very irritating closeted Beta Sub MC, the game is a bit of fun.

This game just feels pretty uninspired the story is some fantasy mumbo but it kinda falls flat and isn't really utilised except to give women penises. I didn't play the whole game but got quite far and what I played felt very bland creatively, so with the story and setting being kind of boring maybe the sex aspects are good right?

No not really the models kinda stand out but don't look all that great, and the sex scenes are pretty damn boring neither erotic or emotional, I felt nothing whilst watching them.

Honestly my main issue with the game was that I felt apathetic most of the way never feeling anything for the characters or scenarios and any interest that could of existed was quickly extinguished by the annoying loop of checking the pc and sleep spamming required to get to any scenes.


Not giving it 1 star because it's not fundamentally awful, I'm sure you can enjoy this if you are really into your dude getting his ass doinked . The photography stuff was also good.

The game could have been better. If some goddess is present here, she is bored with people, and she would like to entertain herself and those people with sex and related elements, then it could be much better overall. Some elements were quite good and unexpected. This is a plus. Although the fantasy and imagination of the authors were weak and limited. Other storylines also fall short of the player's expectations. There is no linear progression or standard steps in gameplay development scenarios. There is some chaos and dispersal of efforts. This is good for variety in the game, but creates the effect of incompleteness and a chaotic, incoherent plot. This is a big minus. And the constant jumping between rooms and locations adds to the annoyance, instead of the joy of the game.

I went into this game not expecting a whole lot but was quite pleasantly surprised. Most of the characters in the game are well fleshed out and have very likable personalities. The story takes a pretty fresh spin on the "MC suddenly gets powers" trope and the world building is very good.

If you aren't into futa content it can be disabled the first time you encounter it and every further non-vanilla sex act/type has it's own confirmation of some kind. You don't have to worry about being forced into an act you don't like, as even a few non-consensual scenes can be skipped by your choice.

I also applaud the creator for their sheer variety of fetishes they allow for in the game and amount of interesting character designs they've come up with.
