I've been lurking here for a while, mostly checking out the VN Games section as I've had quite a bit of interest in them, purely for uh..
'research' reasons .
It's hard not to notice the huge success and appeal these types of games have, although there are quite a large number of 'flops' out there too, mainly from half-arsed attempts in my personal opinion.
Some of my favourites are:
I personally love "Acting Lessons" for it's different approach to an Adult VN over most others, it has some great humour and as others have clearly expressed on reviews online, it can break your heart. I also love "Girl Life" for it's full control and open world type of gameplay, that appeals to me a lot and it's definitely a game I think everyone who is interested in these genre's should play at some point. The only downside being that the entire of the games graphical assets are just porn images taken from online.
I've had this idea in my head for quite some time to make a game that's sort of a combo of Girl Life's open world and free-roam style of gameplay mixed with things from more generic Adult VN games, including Acting lessons for it's humour aspects and a more 'real' feel of things.
Sadly, I'm just a Codemonkey so this idea hasn't become reality due to my lack of graphical prowess.
Although! That might change soon as I'm currently investigating DAZ3D and may throw myself into creating a small prototype of this idea of mine if I manage to grasp Daz3D and create a few characters and scenes for a short demo of what I want.
If that becomes reality then I will hopefully post that Demo here and get feedback from you guys on what you think, if the feedback is positive enough and people express a genuine interest in that type of game then I would continue it.
As everyone is clearly aware, there are many fetishes that people like to explore in VNs, the issue is trying to find the ones that people would like to see in this type of project, I personally don't mind incorporating many different types since the idea is to be a large freeroam style of game, there would be a large amount of characters that the player would interact with, each having their own gimmick / kink / fetish, so nothing is ever 'forced' upon the player, they can choose to engage with certain characters for certain things if they chose.
Anyway, enough rambling of my ideas!

- Summertime Saga [Great art Style, Some good story elements].
- Harem Hotel [Good Art style, Decent story]
- Girl Life [Art is just stolen porn images sadly, 'Open World', Good story's, Lots of control over your character]
- Acting Lessons [Great Story (Lots of Humour and sadness), Good Art, Some control over the narrative]
