Ren'Py - Lust and Power [v0.74 Regular] [Lurking Hedgehog]

This game is actually rather decent, except for one thing, Jessica. She's a random encounter you'll constantly get later on that clearly is supposed to join your house, but you can't really avoid her, you can't attack her, when you try to run away you get instant death, she taunts you when she gets her way, any action you do reduces how much she likes you, and she steals all the food you gather for your house.

Fucking why?

I hate this bitch so much I don't even give a shit she's fuckable. At this point I just want to kill her so I can be left alone. Also, ain't no way this is 8 years of development, after playing it, it feels like 2, max.

Play something else.

Played for the first time. Struggling to get food. Then this Jessica bitch starts attacking me to take my food. And the game won't let me use my weapon or the spells I have because she's a 'girl' and I mustn't hurt her. So she beats me up and takes my food.
WTF! Did you even playtest this? I'm out.

At the begin it was good but the game restarted so much and so much and some years after, it's still in developpement with more and more time to wait for little rewards. I lost hope in this game, but who know I come back next year

Game doesn't even have the same content from 3 years ago. It's a complete money grab scam. It's just pathetic at this point. The idea was good, and the art is decent, but the lack of interest in actually producing any new content is too much at this point.

Finally played and finished the game and I kind of get why the game still has supporters even after the milking has become more than obvious but I'll talk about that later.

STORY:
As the review of KhaiFirst has said, the entire game has an undertone of sleaziness to it. You play as a college dropout returning to his home town at the behest of a voice in his head where it's revealed you're from a line of warlocks and have inadvertently obtained a magic macguffin that your aunt who murdered your father wants but can't get because your house is protected by magic that stops all hostile magic.

Then she erects a magic barrier around the town and summons demons who take over male bodies and start raping every woman in sight. Yep, that's what she does when she can't get a book hidden away in your home. Not find a way to bypass the magic barrier, not hire some muscle to physically take over the house, she opts for summoning a magic barrier around the town and unleashes demons.

I'll give the developer some slack in this regard due to the game needing to happen. What gets me is that the player character comes off as an sociopathic asshole who's only excited he now has the chance to manipulate his family into fucking him and doesn't care about the rape and enslavement of almost everyone around him.

Oh and there are a bunch of Demon Hunters who hunt and kill demons but they treat it as a sport and have no qualms of enslaving and raping any females be they magical or mundane. Great.

The love and submission path boils down to nicely manipulating aka gaslighting the love interests into fucking him or going full asshole and blackmailing them into fucking him so yeah. The game could go in a different way since somehow the game's only around a quarter to a third finished after all these years but I doubt it. There's also some typos here and there.


GAMEPLAY:

The gameplay loop itself is nothing amazing, it's the old porn sandbox Renpy game where there are numerous locations to go to grind items, events, characters and stats, both of the player and love interests. There's a rudimentary combat system, where it's somewhat grindy but it'll get much easier soon enough as you level up your spells. But don't worry, the grind for food and later gold definitely gets annoying after a while.

Speaking of grind, you naturally have to grind love or submission points with the love interests including your 'landlady' and 'roommate' and I thought it like any other game in its genre but then I noticed something; there was different dialogue depending on things like the love interests' current combination of love/submission points, their state of dress and location. And there's quite a bit of variation in dialogue too; for example there's some different dialogue when you set relations as 'landlady' and 'roommate'. Another one is when you bring a love interest to stay at your home there's a few variations of reactions from your 'landlady' and 'roommate' so credit where credit is due as this is still rare for many porn games made today let alone one released in 2017, which I promise I'll get to in just a moment.

Having said that though, when you reach the 70% love/submission threshold the love interests suddenly become turbo sluts for your cock, going from hesitantly masturbating in front of you or giving a titjob to instantly eager to fuck and try anal. So another stage of progress would feel more natural and not so jarring.

The numerous bugs also can get irritating like when I lost the Headband from the arena fights after unequiping it and getting nothing for other arena fights.


Graphics:

It's hand drawn 2D art which isn't the usual Daz 3D or Honey Select which is something but it's not anything I'd call amazing either. There are also animations in the form of several frames alternating between each other. All in all, bang average.


Audio/Music:

No sounds and the music is all stock royalty free music you've probably heard in another game before and they're short enough that you'll constantly hear the same loop over and over again. Enough said.


Developer:

Now that I'm writing up to this point, here comes the kicker, this 25% finished game has been in development since 2017. All thanks to a glacially slow overhaul that has been going on for YEARS at this point and where the content hasn't even caught up to before the overhaul let alone past it. Thanks to this rework there's plenty of confusing and contradictory information on the forum thread. An example would be you can't even create potions other than the health and mana ones, making your smoke potion recipe useless. You also can't meet Roxie in the remake as of v0.72. Add to that all the predatory business practices like selling guides and alternate outfits and I can see why people are very pissed off at this game. I certainly would be if I've been paying on Patreon and getting milked for years on end instead of playing it for free.


Conclusion:

The game itself has the potential to be a solid three and a half star game even factoring in the clumsily executed story which has plenty of questionable ethics and the bog standard presentation and gameplay loop. But that won't be anytime soon due to the most egregious example of milking the fans and slow content progression I've ever seen. At least Summertime Saga had quite a bit of content before starting to go on 'milk vacations'. One star in terms of game developer and progress on the game.

This game… is an experience. Not necessarily a good one, but an experience nonetheless.

Story:

The premise is… ambitious, to put it kindly. You play a warlock, presumably aiming for some kind of magical mastery. The initial gameplay loop involves learning spells, upgrading them, and then leveraging your newfound powers (and, apparently, questionable ethics) to manipulate your landlady and roommate. The concept of charming or pressuring them into... well, anything, feels deeply uncomfortable. The power dynamic is unsettling, and the suggestion that forcing them into anything leads to a "GAME OVER" ending, ostensibly for poor treatment, feels like a half-hearted attempt to justify inherently problematic mechanics.

The whole "adventure out, get supplies, feed landlady, repeat" cycle feels incredibly repetitive and lacking in any real narrative depth. The scripted "GAME OVER" if you're a jerk doesn't redeem the fact that the option to be a jerk exists in the first place. It's less a consequence of your actions and more a pathetically thin veil of morality over a game that clearly flirts with exploitation. The story has potential, but the execution is clumsy and ethically questionable.

Graphics:

"Children drawing design model as if 7 year old draw it on Microsoft Paint" is a shockingly accurate descriptor. While some may argue for a "charming" low-fi aesthetic, this feels more like a lack of effort. The art style actively detracts from the game, making it difficult to take anything seriously, even if you wanted to.

Audio/Music:

"Poor boring next" sums it up perfectly. Forget immersion; the audio actively fights against it.

Conclusion:

The fact that this game is free earns it a begrudging 3 stars. It's playable, technically, and there is a game there, however buried under layers of questionable design choices and amateur-hour presentation.

However, the real kicker is the game's age and monetization. Released in 2017, the suspicion that the developers are milking its (dwindling) fanbase with a subscription model is incredibly off-putting. Why sell the completed game for $5 when you can trap players in a recurring monthly fee for nine years or more? It reeks of predatory business practices and further diminishes any goodwill the game might have garnered.

In short: Approach this game with extreme caution. It's free, but the cost to your time, sanity, and potentially your ethical compass might be higher than you think. Proceed at your own risk. You've been warned.

Review for version... doesn't really matter, because you never know if next update is going to re-add, or unlock , something old back into the game or remove somethig from it. But in the course of over seven years nothing much really changed.

So story started as something somewhat orginal. MC is a supressed sorcerer and when his power is unlocked his suppresed magic turned into sentient inner voice. With his new hastly unlocked powers he has to fight nasty daemonic invasion cause by a other much more powerful sorcerer, while also creating, fucking and protecting his own harem, because it's required in order to increase his power even more.

Sadly, this... game is a failure wrapped in gold. Calling characters is this game retarded is actually an insult to retarded people. It only takes a single sentence from MC to understand he's mentally challanged alongside women and his inner voice. I don't know if it's an attempt at humor, but I ain't laughing. Instead I'm trying to forget the amout of cringe dialogue lines or failed attempts to act like a toddler I had to read.

Gameplay wise mechanics in this game actually do exist. However, they are so bad you wish to turn them off. And this feeling is understandable. It's a game made by using renpy. It's meant for visual novels, not RPG games. So basically any attempt at making RPG by using renpy is a challenge in itself. Sadly, developer of this game also failed to provide with anything meanigful beside... fightings door and maybe a daemon once in a while.

Yes, your greatest enemies are doors. 90% of your time you are throwing your powerful magical spells not at something you should, but at doors in order to look for food an other useful items. Because, apparently, you can't force yourself on the lock, can't use crowbar, or break a window to get inside. No, you have to break the door with magic.

As for any spicy content... there are sex scenes. Or were sex scenes. Or they might be sex scenes. It all depends on which version you managed to download and play. But there ain't much of them,. As static drawings they look quite good, even if rough around the edges sometimes. Problem is that poor attempt at making them animated with only but a few more frames per scene which makes them more unpleasant than arousing.

Poor english and grammar, far more worst than mine I assure you, which is a fucking achivement I have to say, is also making playing and reading this creaton problematic, because instead of only understanding what you just read, you also have to think about it too often.

With cheat for food, the main chore of the game as I mentioned, you can actually unlock all content within an hour or two if you are lazy. Certainly, that's very small amount of content for a game with over seven years in development.

Normally I would give two stars just for an attempt at making an RPG in renpy, but... not for this one. It's just too bad.

This game feels like a frustrating chore to play, mostly due to the randomized nature of the game's mechanics. Between the constant need to upkeep the food supply, and the game's refusal to give you food, like 1 out of 10 places that you loot would just give you cleanser for the 100th time.

Another glaring issue is that the vast majority of the game's content still being in development after years and years. If you were to use cheat to bypass the asinine issue that is the food supply, the game's total content can be easily completed in under 45 minutes. Which is baffling considering that this is easily one of the earliest projects on this website.

The only reason I'm not giving this a 1 star is simply because of its premise and art style.

One of the most repetitive games I've seen here. Despite 8 years of development, you feel like you've seen all the content in the first few hours. Everything in the game is grinding, but you don't get any rewards. There's not even a proper sex scene. There are two women and to convince them you have to be a constant fetch boy. The women are also very annoying and constantly complain about everything. They don't listen or do anything you say. The gameplay is a chore and the lewd scenes are hidden behind boring fetch quests. The turn-based combat was very bad. You fight the doors of the houses more than you fight the demons. I don't plan to follow the game to see if it develops further, because if this is where it is after all these years, there is no point in hoping for the future.

It's an inoffensive title. It had a bunch of cute ideas, but nothing was executed well enough to meet any reasonable quality standard. Everything, from writing to system design, is just a bit below par. If you're bored and like the tags, well your time would probably be better spent elsewhere. But if you really want to give it a swirl, go for it. You might at least be able to appreciate the wasted potential.

This is a solid 4 star game and with better overall writing and narrative and some tweaking of mechanics maybe even pushing 5.
A lot of that depends on your affinity for the kinks, this has a lot of stuff i personally like: incest, male dom, and mom, son, sister sex (not in the reboot yet but in the old version which is available here too and worth a look with the cheats)
The game is a sandbox and has a decent amount of grind so if you don't like that kind of stuff probably not worth playing unless you really like the kinks in which case you can use the cheats which eliminate most of the grind
it has RPG lite combat which isn't anything special but isn't horrible either
the game loop consists of going out to scavenge for resources, fighting demons and then heading back to the house to corrupt the LIs

The corruption is actually quite rewarding due largely to the excellent dirty talk, there are some groping, masturbation scenes here that are hotter than sex scenes i've seen in a lot of games on this site.
the accompanying animations are simple but also very hot, and the expressions on the faces of the women are handled really well too

the story is okay there's an apocalypse, you're the chosen one blah blah blah. It's not bad but not great, the characters are likewise okay but their personalities end up revolving around how they fit into porn game tropes. The frigid MILF; the bitchy sister, the secret sub, the nerd, ect. None of this really bothers me, but if you have a hardon for deep meaningful relationship building in your porn games then you may not like it

Overall for just what's here its a must play for anyone that likes incest harem games and maledom imo and if you really don't want to deal with the grind the cheat makes everything pretty trivial.
The original game is worth a look to as there are more scenes that get into FFM stuff. Though i would definitely use the cheat there to unlock everything there because it's not worth playing through both as the reboot is the superior experience overall

I'm partial to power fantasy games, but this is pretty solid. Writing and scenes are good so long as you are okay with the art style. I think the pacing of the gameplay is good and you tangibly stronger over time like a good RPG should have. For how much the dev is making on Patreon it should probably have a tighter update schedule or some communication from him, but I just played this recently and I'm judging it based on what's here.

It's a fun game with a few missed opportunities to be above average.

The Good.

• The combat is fun and the feeling of growing stronger is well dosed. There are many spells to choose from and this opens a lot of different ways of approaching combat.
• The game has its own artstyle so you won't see the same DAZ models you've already seen a hundred times. I personally like this western style.
• While they have similar sex scenes, each women have their own artworks and animations, they aren't just face-swapped.

The Meh.

• The game requires you to explore a city and each time you explore you may run into a random encounter. Some districts have specific encounters but still, there are so few encounters (like 5 ?) that it gets stale quite fast.
• Scavenging for food is fine. It's tense during the early game and trivial and fast later on. However, grinding for other ressources in parallel was boring ... I personally couldn't be bothered with gold so I just used console commands to bypass this part.
• The females, while looking different and having different (though limited) personalities, lack diversity. I would have appreciated more body sizes and skin colors.
• The women in MC's harem have two stats : love and submission. Apart from different dialog lines and unlocking the next sex scenes, these don't much more and can actually be raised at the same time. I would have prefered distinct paths with distinct scenes to encourage players to commit to one or the other and prevent them from playing the MC as both the kindest person on Earth and the biggest control freak at the same time.
• The writing is meh. It's functional and doesn't strive for more.

The Bad. This game doesn't do anything bad actually. The grind is a bit annoying, but contributes to the tense feeling of the early game when finding food. The core of the game (combat and sex scenes) are good but many little things dull the experience down to average.

I'm putting this last paragraph at the end of the review because I didn't take it into account when rating the game (as is expected from the 3rd reviewing rule). I wrote this review after playing v0.66 Regular. More than 2 years had passed since the previous time I had played the game and yet ... Apart from a few animations and a new step in a quest, the game hasn't progressed. You should take this into account if you ever plan on supporting this project.

First lets get over the 7 years of development and nothing new in game for years due to remaking the game, that alone is just to stupid and slow, game should have been done years ago instend, if this will ever get finished or it will be a constant remake untill people stop supporting i dont know but dont really have my hopes up for this to get done.

I like the main plot where MC gets power to fight deamons and shit, but it also fails due to being forced to turn your mother and sister into slaves, i mean game dosent explain why MC would have such hate for hes family so he wants to punish them and turn them into slaves to that part just dosent make any kind of sense and considering the hole reason for him to fight evil is to protect him self and hes family it makes even less sense and feels idiotic.

MC has an inner voice and i got to say its more annoying then fun and i could do without it, all its there to do is make game cringy as hell which really only ruins the game and MC has no balls so he never stands up to it so hes just the standard submissive idiot.
MC is also extremly cringy and has alot of lust for hes own mother and sister, its boring, its standard, its pointless, both the inner voice and MC wants to fuck the mother and sister, i just hate thie type of game where you dont have a say in anything as the player, also hate MCs with a mindset of a childish 12 year old.

As for the art its mostly pretty damn bad, alot of the girls you meet out in the world has faces like a dude, even main girls are meh feels like same faces reused on all of them really.

Sex scenes are bland, boring dialogs and animations, dialogs are meh as well.

There arent really any kind of choices its an all out kinetic story with very little to come for, i kinda liked the fighting and RPG aspest which is only reason i give this 2 stars as for choices it would be 0.

Great game, mechanics, story, and h-scenes, plagued by a developer that likes to remove content, just to slowly re-add it over time.

Came for the lesbian content, just to find out, it, and a lot of other content has been removed, just so it could be re-added at a later date. Half the Tags on this post are incorrect, and should have been removed years ago.

v0.37 has more content, and gameplay, then v0.65.... And the difference between the two, IMO, wasn't worth the removal of content. On top of that, it's been 2-3 years since this rewrite has started....

Easily a 5 star game, but it's been corroded and decayed by the whim a dev probably just trying milk money from their supports cuz they are having troubles continuing the story. (that last part is speculation of-course, but seriously go play v0.37 after trying v0.65, and you will easily find that the differences between the two, do not out-weight a 3 year development time and removal of content.)

Either wait until this is completed, or go play something else. Not worth your time or money until the dev gets their act together.

EDIT: After reading some of the dev notes of releases, they were able to completely rewrite the game code and redo a bunch of art, and add new art in a 4-5 month period. However, it's take'n them 2 and half years to re-add already completed content and art, to their new version of the game. Something is not adding up here. At best they are making some minor tweaks to the art and story, IMO it shouldn't take 2 and half years to re-add whats already been completed and planned out back into the game. Definitely looks like they are milking this to a certain degree.

[To put it in perspective, this Dev has been getting $4000USD (give or take) every month for 2.5 years to re-add content that was available in v0.37. That's $120,000 just to re-add previously available content... If you go back and play v0.37 you will clearly realize that the amount of changes and content between v0.37 and v0.65 does not justify the revenue.]

I come back to this every year or so. In general: Great game with a very unique gameplay mechanic and content.

For some time it made great progress both content wise and gameplay wise. I believe the dev revamped it and reorganized everything, which might be to milk patreon longer or just because he felt the need to.

What lets me substract a star is that there is no real content since years. Yes now I can watch the women sleeping, not sure if I was able to do that 2 years ago. But I'm pretty sure most content was there already. Maybe the vag sex scene with the mother/landlady whatever was missing, but other than that I believe most was there. Sister just got a bit more scenes after I played.

If you like the power mechanic of corrupting/blackmailing/seducing (you basically can go both roads at the same time) it's a great game. The problem is: I basically have seen everything before, there are new characters added that serve basically no purpose (and some had more content some years ago).

I would have highly prefered the dev concentrating only on the mother/sister, and making the corruption process way longer. Right now it's basically only taking time because you need tons of stuff to "survive" which is basically grinding (play this with cheats, please!) - the dialogues are hot, don't get me wrong, but it escalates too quickly. The mother going from "are you insane I won't let you see me naked" to "ok let's fuck if you really need" just too fast (if you use cheats). Positive: There are actually at least 2 or so different dialogues per sex scene, one for the first time and one for every round after, but I believe it would be way more believable if the dev had done the corruption process more smoothly. Touching her ass? yes, but first time only over clothes, then with lift up skirt, no skirt on panties, no panties. And so on. Would have made it more believeable. Also: lost chance to stretch the content. Dude, using the same images you already use but gating it would have been perfect. You already have different dialogues for the same scene if the bra is off vs. bra on, capitalize on it!


Anyhow, I enjoy the game, and if the dev actually adds more content I'm interested in (I dont need more places to go to fight monsters, I want more porn scenes or more different dialogue stretching these scenes) I expect to come back in 2025 to see it finished or at least a bit further. If it goes in the right direction, it will get my 5 stars.

Great game actually, great potential - BUT and thats a very big but, its going around in circles. There was more content back in 2020 than there is now and while rewrites might be warranted at times, this just seems excessive. Even the latest 0.63 has bugs, such as not being able to access inventory, and various other mechanics that used to work doesn't currently. Its like waiting for a new version, only to find out its worse than the one before. Its sad really.
The visuals merit more than one star, might have actually given it four, but a devolving game is just frustrating and therefore I give Lust and Power version 0.63 a single star.

Great game, if you enjoy the male power balance shift from zero to hero and find pleasure in slowly dominating & corrupting your not-family members. Nice blend of hand-drawn images, management game and RPG fighting elements with silly dialogues.

A lot of reviewers downgrade their rating as the Dev seems to be developing at a slow pace and after a revision of the game 2 years ago, has still not caught up to the level the game once was. I do sympathize with the frustration, but the review should be towards the game you can play right know, so I will not factor that in. But like the others, I wish for a lot more content, soon.

Very cool game. Nice drawings and the storyline holds together. The game itself requires a bit of grind but you can survive. What could be improved more sex scenes, more domination on girls well and more girls in it would be useful with bigger breasts.

I like the game. Graphics are nice. It's sad, that the redo resulted in the game not yet being as good as the old version, but it has gotten playable. The long wait is bad. But I played the game a lot through the versions. It certainly shouldn't have 3 stars, but I can understand the anger.
