VN - Ren'Py - Lustful College [v0.40] [Tinkel Studios]

I normally don't do this, but I quit about a half hour in - around the start of the third school day I believe. It's almost frustrating. There are some surface level things that I like, such as the character models. But MAN is it rough. It is the devs first project it sounds like, so some of that is to be expected. No one starts off pristine. But this will need a lot of polish and rewriting.

First off, was excited to see that its an actual College setting and not a high school like most of these. But its really just in the name. Nothing about the writing of these characters says they are college age.

The writing for the MC is ALL over the place. As soon as he meets the principal, they immediately decide to plan to blackmail her for sex. Shortly after that you're being rough with a girl (named Dream) you just met 5 minutes ago in the school bathroom, immediately treating her like a cock sleeve. 5 minutes later dude masturbates to a selfie of a girl on his phone and gets sad because he thinks that was a terrible thing to do. (THAT was the terrible thing you regret that you've done so far??) He is also for some reason flabbergasted that everyone is looking at him all the time - the only male in an all-girls school. The next day you have a choice to meet with Dream again where you treat her like shit and slap her in the school hallway, or follow this stranger girl who caught your eye, sees her being kissed by another girl against the wall, and the dude thinks he needs to play hero because he believes she is obviously being molested. The dude is a fucking idiot. It's like they couldn't decide if they wanted the typical guy guy MC or the asshole MC who see's all holes as a place to put his rod, and so they tried to combine them.

Meanwhile somehow nearly ALL of these girls are into this piece of shit of a human, on sight. There is 0 relationship development. All these girls fall into 3 types. The "romantic types" decide within a couple lines that he is a really nice, hot guy. The "sex crazed masochists" who decide they want to be this dudes pet within minutes. And the crazy bitches who hate this guys guts immediately. This MC bothers me SO much, that typically my least favorite characters (the ones who are crazy mean bitches for no reason) are actually my favorites here.

With these kinds of games, there is always some level of suspending disbelief. But man.. these characters just don't act like real people. They don't talk to each other like real people. There is 0 actual relationship development, so the sex scenes that are there (which are decent, for what it's worth) do not feel earned.

I highly recommend the dev looking at similar, popular works to learn from. Don't copy paste - learn from them. Really pay attention. Maybe read up on how to write characters that feel real - there is tons of free material out there. Writing is hard, never stop trying to learn how to get better at it.

I'll keep an eye on this one but it'll be a while before I come back. The MC and everything to do with them is such a huge turn off here. He is like a mix of 3 different MC archetypes mixed into one, in an entirely dysfunctional way. There is just so little cohesion from scene to scene.

The english used is not only terrible but at times borderline unreadable with some lines repeated almost within 6 text boxes. The story janks about, suddenly drop protag into a halloween party even though the protag has not meet all of the characters at the event he acts as if he does. The author also shows a poor understanding of BDSM is that is what they are going for. Also, a couple of the girls have faces only their mother could love, however some such as Summer are drop dead gorgeous.

Full of tons of 'ur' rather than 'you're' type slang in regular conversations, guy says 'XD' rather than laughing at one poiont, not when characters are texting.
Jarring. Like 90% of the text is fine then its like the author just didn't care to have his characters talk like actual people.

What we have are totally average koikatsu models, above average effort put into the sex scenes and absolutely abysmal, nonsensical, weirdly paced writing, where things just sort of happen because they do, you have no real control beyond "Which of these 3 girls should I go try to molest" and the options you do get are really weird.
5 seconds into arrving to school MC is always contemplating blackmailing the principal into sex, every girl he sees he's instantly thinking about fucking, he's constantly borderline or actually rapey in every sex scene, yet we get an option to be a sub? The fuck? Also all but 2 girls so far are subs or 'vanilla but can be made to sub'. Why we getting an option that's 100% against both the MC and nearly every other character in the game? Confusing.

Speaking of the MC, very unlikeable. He's a total dick and barely comes off as an actual person. He has no backstory explaining why he's happy to rape people except maybe because the principal also does that. Why does she do that? How does she get away with it? Who knows! No time to explain characters thoughts or personalities ('wants dick' is not a personality), need mc to contemplate ass size some more.
The girls are largely interchangable for the same reason. Either their only thought is fucking the mc, they hate him OR they hate him THEN want to fuck the mc. Very interchangable and the models aren't good enough to differentiate them either, except the one girl who has a weirdly realistic face skin that stands out like a sore thumb.

Story will casually introduce magic phones, magic walls, have the principal be tying up students naked, etc, all completely unexplained as is and bot the MC and everyone else doesn't seem to care at all. Too busy thinking 'dick' or 'ass' respectively

Right now this game is 'functional', but a far cry from good.
For one thing it could use some actual backstory for the mc to explain his behavior (IS he a convicted rapist? DOES he have an actual brain?), explanation about the apparent lack of any laws (IS the principal just allowed to rape her own students or dress them up near naked on her whims?) or just have literally anyone at all ever act like an actual person capable of thinking with any stimulus beyond lust.

damn, how much has changed compared to the first version. The first version caught my attention. In such a short time, both the content and the improvement update, I guess I didn't expect such a change. The dev seems pretty ambitious.

The content count is satisfactory enough for the current version and situation.
The old renders felt lame, but the game now has much better renders.
The models are quite good and diverse, it's quite difficult to choose a favorite.
It's clear that the game won't be just about sex and that a deep or simple relationship is established with each character.
The variety of clothing in the game, as well as the taste of the developer, was also something that caught my eye and I liked.

The dev's passion makes this game with enough potential for me. I'm following for future updates. I hope he continues with the same passion.

its a multiple path game, will require you to play again from the start if you want to get some scenes that you never will see otherwise.

right now it ends really early, but that's expected it being a 0.1.5, and if someone bish about the graphics, they just dont like that engine and thats it.

This game has great potential. I played the first version, and now I've played version 0.1.5. I can sincerely say the game has improved.

Characters are detailed and have their own personality.
Game is not sandbox VN is pretty cool.

The game has a balanced and consistent reward system, so you don't have to play for hours on end to see the scenes.

it has a lot of potential. I'm not fan of furry or domination, but they can be good with a good deliver. however, I'm not gonna like that too. I'm more interested in the other parts of the game. the game is good for the first release. I hope it won't be abandoned.

I can't lie, I do really like the style/theme and general idea and I do also like seeing how involved the developer seems with the community. The plot/setting isn't exactly incredible or well developed, but this is the developer's first project and something simple and desirable like being moved to an all girls school is perfectly serviceable - this is a porn game after all.

However, the writing is genuinely abysmal, and I couldn't get very far into playing the game before stopping due to it. Hopefully the dev can possibly work with someone to re-write the dialogue, as I assume English also isn't their native language.

Edit: Reading through other reviews, it appears as though the game is translated? So I can't totally fault the developer in that regard. However, my point still stands that the dialogue/translation is in desperate need of improvement - and I hope it gets it!

Following up on a review after playing through the rework content, old review left under spoiler tag.
So the rework has improved on the major strength of the game which is the visuals, with some new animation and generally good character models. Unfortunately hasn't really addressed any of its weaknesses, besides a few acknowledgments of the initial plots holes and at least a small comment towards explaining them. It hasn't really managed to solve the games weakest parts however. Namely desperate need of proof reading and just generally how the dialogues advance feeling jarring.
Previous rating was a 3, unfortunately it remains at 3 despite this version being better. If I was able to it would probably be a 3.5.

This is for v0.1 of the game. In other words, the very beginning.

On the positive side, the MC appears to actually have some personality, and that's a big plus in my book. He's not timid and he's not a pushover. This already makes him better than the vast majority of MCs, IMO.

Also, the girls are reasonably cute and the game doesn't waste much time before showing some naughty bits and deviant situations.

Of course, there wasn't a lot to show, so plotwise there isn't much to it.

Now the bad part: the translation is really, *really* bad. Like a machine translation from a lobotomized machine. For now, I guess it's vaguely tolerable, but at some point in the near future, it's going to have to be fixed, otherwise people are going to drop the game solely because of how much a chore it is to make sense of the text.

Overall, I've decided to give it an average score, but if this game were further along, I would've given it fewer stars, and if I come back to this game in the future and the translation hasn't improved, I *will* be giving it fewer stars.

Anyway, I hope the dev keeps with it and upgrades whatever he is using to translate this into English, because it does have potential to be a good game.

Edit: After having gone through the latest version of the game, the English translation is... better. It's still far from good, but it no longer requires a degree in translating obscure texts to understand it. It's still not all that long, so the score I've given it is tentative. And, if possible, I would've given it a 3.5 instead of a 4, but... well, the girls are slutty and twisted enough that I decided to round upwards.

I hope the Dev is able to keep this up going forward.

I like the game, it promising future i am waiting for next updates characters looks good and story is deep one Dream is my favorite i am excited to see new scenes of Dream and others... I played all paths of game scenes is satisfying choices was good.
