Man, I've really leaned towards visual novels lately

When I first started playing these games I played a lot of those ones where you play mostly as a little sprite and move around to do quests and stuff. Lust Town (and City of Lust), My New Life, and basically anything made by ICSTOR.

Lately though I've seen those little sprites and just thought "ugh, too much work"

Yeah it's shitty. Those devs put in so much work but I'm just bored with it. All of that 'instant gratification' stuff I guess.

I didn't have a real point to this, just a random rant I guess

I'm of the opinion that most rpgm titles are wasting the potential of the medium. Their characters are boring and unengaging, and the story is usually a straight "gotta fuck'em'all" with very little original thought or depth.

That said, there are plenty of Devs using Ren'Py in the same failed fashion. However, the VN, even in worse games, like DMD, forces some dialogue and interaction at least partially stimulating a story. As a result, I much prefer the medium.

I suggest you take a look at Parental Love. The developer managed to add fight sequences to Ren'Py. They're simplistic, but effective. Combine that with systems like MotH or Dreaming of Dana's open world and inventory systems and you've got all you need to make a turn based RPG in an arguably better format.

As you can see, I've been around for just over a month, it took me about a week to be fed up with the lack of character depth or narrative in most of these "games". So I decided to make my own. Visual novels offer a better story telling platform.

Yea, I've basically given up on everything that isn't renpy.

I got into these games through those v-date games, browser based ones at least. So the renpy games seemed like an upgrade to those. I actually don't care for any game type elements anymore. Games like big brother, I got really into when I first found it but after awhile it is so tedious, I end up just wishing someone would rip the CG and make their own renpy version of it.

But I dunno, I play these games to fap. VN's and renpy in particular keep everything simple and streamlined. The less game type factors the better, as long as its intriguing enough to keep clicking through. Im not even a fan of depravity/lust/friendship blah blah type points. I'd rather it just be simple, did you make the right choice type things. Nothing worse than being in a .8 or something and not getting a scene because I missed two "love" points in a .2 version of it.

But we all have our opinions. I'm sure alot of people prefer different things. If I'm looking for RPG elements or good gaming systems I'll play an actual video game. I basically just use these to extend my debaucherous fap sessions before closing out and finishing with a good old fashioned porn vid lol

In my own game I've implemented that system of points that determine the scenes, but I''m balancing it out. Just because you don't get a specific sex scene doesn't mean you don't get something worth while. For instance, on Day 1 the female twin of my dual MC team will either masturbate or go to bed frustrated. If she masturbates, good for you, you got to fap. If she doesn't come morning, assuming you let the brother fap (which is determined by a menu and not points) then she wakes up to have an existensial crisis about how she might be taking advantage of her brother's need for her, making her just as bad as their father who she killed when she found him molesting her brother.

Haven't really had time to check it lately, but @NoesisAndNoema try to make your wish come true :

Well, Ren'py is a VN engine after all. And if they feel better it's because creators do the opposite as those who use RPG maker. Most of western RPG maker games forget half of the potential of the engine, while a lot of Ren'py games try, with more or less success, try to go further than a simple VN.

Not that it hasn't been talked about before but good and bad games happen to exist in any engine if it's Ren'py, RPGMaker, Unreal, Unity or what not...you might be thinking...
Lately though I've seen those little sprites and just thought "ugh, too much work"
but I bet if you play enough VN's made with Ren'py you might enjoy a change of scenery just as much...I am at a point where I think...oh finally a builder game or hey...finally a good RPG...or finally a game that does not copy/paste story or DAZ assets...something original...that for me is in itself the best step towards a good game.
