Unity - Completed - Man of the House [v1.0.2c Extra] [Faerin]

Quite an abysmal game. I don't really get why would one implement so much repetitiveness into a visual novel. The scenes don't even save the game too much. I'd say this is highly overrated and there are plenty more games with similar playstyle (interactive VNs), less grind and more depth.

The game has pretty good atmosphere. The story is not original but solid. The graphics is good except from some details. The characters look really attractive. The scenes and renders are really nice although there are not that much sex scenes. Most irritating was MC ... he behaves pathetic, he has small dick (eventhough everyone say how big he is) and he cums in matter of seconds...

the game is okay, it's not a big hit, but it's not bad either. the story is okay, although a bit shallow, they could have made more out of it.
that it is a sandbox is okay, that certain events are triggered by the time makes the game quite sympathetic, because it does not follow the story linearly. the stories of the ladies are partly intertwined, which, if you want to focus on individual characters, can be a small disadvantage if you want to play them one after the other. but so beis.

negative to note is clearly the use of unity, which is why it will fly again from the hard drive, because it crashed several times for me. a second that it is impossible to bring everything to 100%. it is also a pity that there are no selection options at certain points, I would have let diane ice cold...
once you have finished a girl, there are unfortunately very few interaction possibilities, there could have been more (amy at home, veronica in the neon, alone or in company to the cinema or restaurant, various activities with debby).

Man Of The House was my introduction in Adult Visual Novel games. What an introduction. Honestly, I couldn't have picked a better game to start with. It's nothing like regular novels and uses the Unity engine to have you play a time-management game while experiencing a story and having intercourse with people around you. That's why you're the man of the house.

STORY
In Man Of The House, you are the only man in a house full of women - and are expected to handle your man-business to the best of your abilities. You'll eat with the family, go to work and build your riches. You'll soon figure out the best ways to deal with the women in your household, only to find out there's an entire world outside of the house you are in. When you finally go into the outside world and visit things like parks, the gym and even a stripclub - you'll really see what the city you live in is about.

Most if not all of the relationships (safe for some) were interesting and well-written. While they may not have been the most original in the scene, the attention to detail in their responses and mannerisms more than make up for that. The three women in your household are your main concern, but there's.. room to look for distractions outside as well. For fear of spoiling too much, you'll have to figure that out yourself.

The main story is somewhat all over the place, but never feels out of character simply because the vibe can be quite wacky. You'll be delivering pizza's, shadowing tennis coaches and even helping out heroes. All of this happens through time-locked story events and it's up to you to figure out when the moment will happen.

GRAPHICS
By all accounts, Man Of The House isn't that impressive visually. It's often a 3D image over a background and the people have a doll-like appearance to them without going into anime-territory. It's an older game, but the graphics work enough to get immersed into the game. Because this is actually more than a standard visual novel - there are icons and graphics for maps, minigames, store shelves and much more. It all works together to create a world that is more than just a collection of conversations and sex encounters.

If however you don't like the doll look the characters have, it will be very hard to love this if you are not made for grindy gameplay. It's a certain aesthetics that's a niche and something Faerin left behind for his later games. Facial design doesn't always look as complimentary for the women of our house, but you will be able to look beyond that after a few hours. I found all the women to be attractive, including the ones outside of your house. If you're looking to play around in a city that's well-fleshed out and feels like a city, this is your game.

GAMEPLAY
This game is time-based where a day consists of a 24 hour-loop, which means certain things happen at certain times and often, it's up to you to find the right time to have events happen. Alongside the time-game mechanic you will be grinding for money in order to pay for stuff you will need in the story. That actually doesn't make this a visual novel, but a story-based relationship game. It feels like an AVN at times, but mostly you'll be thinking about how to best approach the order of events with the time that is given to you before the next event. It's time-management and that might not be for everyone.

If you can get through that layer though, there's some seriously nice stuff in here. Work minigames, puzzles, collection challenges - and of course the dialog options. You'll often run into not having enough points for an action, so you will have to find new interactions to raise points and unlock new ones. I found it to be refreshing not having to focus on the dialogs and relationships all the time, so often I would swap an event for a minigame and then go back into story mode. There's even a minigame when traveling between places, but you'll figure that out when you start playing.

Gameplay is easily the best part about Faerin's games because he spends so much time mixing the story with the grind. That isn't for everyone though - so make sure you have time on our hands if you want to finish this game.

OVERALL
This is one of my favorite AVN games because it's so different from what's out there in the community. Love what Faerin did to this game and all the little details that help build the world. One of the best AVN's with gameplay that stretches it beyond an AVN for me. Definitely recommend this if you're into an immersive game with sexual excitement.

The plot of the game is rather mediocre as it revolves solely around the main character's pursuit of sexual encounters. While this is a common theme in lewd games, it unfortunately lacks originality and can be boring for ones, who completed several games of the genre.
Another aspect of the game is the need for grinding, but fortunately, there is a built-in feature to reduce the amount of repetitive tasks (eating, sleeping..). However, there are still events that require multiple repetitions, often without any changes, which can become tedious and monotonous.
Another common thing for porn games (and MotH particularly) is inability to influence the plot, you can't skip some chains or girls, you have to interact with everyone.
On the positive side, the female characters in the game are visually appealing, and the sex scenes are well-executed. For enthusiasts of this genre of adult games, it is certainly worth checking out.

Solid game, especially for when it came out (reviewing well after the fact). The models are good, the story is good and the gameplay is the right balance of sandbox and visual novel. This is my favorite type of game where there are stats and money, but the grinding isn't too bad.

excellent game with good story and nice animations easy to understand the tasks and locations .and how to get to fuck them too. i really like the gameplay too. easy interactions too only thing is it's little grindy. and only slow path is the mother path and it should be tooo if it was easy where is the fun in that.

While its a great sandbox game, its practically impossible to complete without a guide. There is a good hint system, that covers 99% of everything. But the last 1% you will have to google. Like checking Veronica, while she's doing chores - you need to wait exactly 2 hours and its never mentioned in game.

Completing dates(endgame stuff) is a frustrating quest with random outcomes that you can try only once a week. save-loading helps, but it resets all random events and you will have to guess everything again. Thankfully, online guides are helpful, and you have to complete these dates only once for each girl.

You dont have to grind for money or MC stats, if you dont want to - there is a cheat menu in your smartphone.

There is a ton of content. Over time you unlock new girls, jobs and locations.
Its actually a very good game, except some minor annoyances that keep you stuck at some point.

I don´t get way this game is rated so highly, is there something I don´t know or understand? I read reasons like it´s a complete game and wonder is that all it takes for a positive review?

The story is boring unoriginal just it is fuck family and some other girls that concept can be very good but here it feels just bland.

The sex scenes are mostly vanilla and very boring most are just pictures and a few are animated which looks awful.

The characters are not good all are boring, or one dimesional, I will talk about a few.

MC: He doesn´t really have a personality and looks very ugly, I hate how he acts dominant sometimes but everyother time he is a timid, submissive bitch.

Ashley: The little sister is just a "innocent" girl who doesn´t know about sex or anything but that just isn´t true which is obviously seen in the game so why make her so weridly inncocent in the beginning and ten just suddenly become a slut.

Sophia: The best friend of Ashley she is almost exactly Ashley just a little bit shy, why make the same character twice.

Emma: The Aunt she is sexy, likes to tease, and is also a slut that´s her character and nothing more.

Veronica: The big sister, she is very mean and dominating but turns out she loves to be dominated herself and you become her Master. I love stuff like that but because the MC is such a whimp it just sucks.

There are other characters but they don´t have a personality either.


The gameplay is a sandbox where you have to grind way too much.


I don´t understand how people like this game.

Could be 5 stars if it were not for the repetitive events/task and waits between them, as well as the very poorly looped animations. Otherwise, a very well made incest (+extras)story full of clichés and an MC that acts innocent every time he manipulates someone into fcking him.

"OMG, what? She is gonna have sex wiith me????" (after basically doing everything apart from penetrative sex with the girl)

But this is just a personal preference of wanting MCs to be a little more self aware.

Definitely recommended and worth to play.

This game knows what it is and mostly just delivers. Some of the renders are a little weird but they are good for the most part. Sometimes a little difficult to figure out what to do and relies on random events (luckily not that many).

At the end of the day the plot is good but no serious and makes for a fun romp. Definitely worth playing.

To say that I do not like this game would be lying, even if the choice is sorely lacking and it becomes painful. The positive point and its popularity gives it a French translation. Not the best, but very good!

While I mostly enjoyed this game it IS very generic feeling. Typical incest trio of Mom and 2xSis + extras for seasoning. The game can be very grindy even if you turn off your status bars. Each girl ends up feeling like a checklist with gated events to accomplish. While this is true for most of these kinds of game, this one does little to hide it. Overall, this game is over-hyped and the MC looks like a 16 year old goblin whenever he is on screen.

Immersive - deep emotional connection to the characters. Polished gameplay (few bugs). I only wish there were more, especially with the multi-character relationships/scenes. (Example: The Veronica story is long (good character arc) and fulfilling, but the Veronica+Amy story is short.)

Story- There are about 9 different characters with their own stories, Overlap is typically between the main 3 and one or more of the side characters. The main 3 are all poorly wallpapered over incest so it’s a little hard to ignore. Despite that the Veronica/Amy storyline is one of my favorite porn game stories.
Art- All the girls look good, but the renders are showing their age at this point. MC looks like a goblin, but I’m not exactly here for him.
Sound- SFX are sometimes annoying but passable
Voice Acting- N/A
Mechanics- stat/time/life management is the standard to which all these types of games should be measured. It’s a Sandbox VN
Animations- low frame count animations of decent quality
Bugs- ran into at least one
Amount of content- 40+ hours
Subjective stuff- Would have been better without incest

Man of the House (MotH) was once considered one of the top adult games out there, but now (late 2022) its sandbox-heavy approach is no longer in fashion. Thankfully, developer Faerin has included an optional cheat mode, wherein the player can avoid much of the grind that might otherwise be required.

It's a landlady/mom, roommate/sister game with many of the porn tropes we've come to expect, but MotH does them well and throws in some fun variations. The lewd content is not stellar, but contains a few erotic gems and, in brief, gets the job done.

While there are arguably higher quality games available, this one is complete and even with cheats will take you ten hours or so to complete, assuming you read the dialogue and otherwise play as intended. Best of all, there are many endings available and an entire replay of the game is not (necessarily) required to unlock them all.

In summary, MotH is an oldie by goodie, definitely worth checking out.

Good well thought out, good hint system and professionally made and a game that is too good for free - would love this to be remade with real porn actors and wish other games were hlaf as good as this

So many girls with unique personalities, locations, challenges, achievements, I could go on and on. A must play for fans of western H-games. The graphics are dated by todays standards however they are good enough that they stand the test of time to play even now.

This is definitely best mom son game.
Only bad thing is "mood" stats. (You can cheat btw.)
Story is really good. I really like it.
Graphics are ok.
Sandbox is a bit repetitive (Most of the time, we need to repeat some event at least like 5 times to continue next events...)
