Unity - Mansion Days [v0.0.5 Fix] [Brim]

Needs a lot of work, but I certainly like this as a start.
This has incredible potential, and I have high hopes for it.

The art is solid. The girls' models are SPECTACULAR, some of the highest-quality I've seen in a good while.

The writing is a bit rough around the edges, and cliche, but not offensively so.
In fact, I can appreciate focusing on other aspects first.

The only gameplay (which, to be honest, isn't really expected in a VN) is a "click the hearts" "minigame", but it's (unsurprisingly) quite boring.
Luckily, you only really have to do it twice to level up, so it's an acceptably small hurdle compared to other games that make you grind affection for multiple days. Improvement would be welcome though.

Unfortunately, the NSFW is what is lacking, which is very disappointing with how good these models are! It's not even that they're bad though, it's just that the scenes that exist are too... I'm not sure how you'd call it. "Entry-level", I guess? Currently, there is what feels like a "first" scene for all the girls, as well as an extra two or three for one of them. But hey, at least they're actually animated! And animated well, at that!

None of the scenes go very far, however I can also acknowledge that these kinds of things need to be "eased-into" - you can't go all-out early in the story, else you're left with an empty hand a few hours in.

So I am looking forward to when those "few hours in" arrive.
But for now, this is a VERY solid start!

Nothing matters quality-wise here. If, for example, I was sold a cartridge of Ocarina of Time but the game simply locks at the Deku Tree boss door while making it clear all other dungeons are technically on cart, I would still give a one-star rating. The vast majority of content being completely inaccessible (as of 0.0.5) for seemingly no reason (no paid/free versions, no dev response about a bug, etc) makes this an automatic 1-star.

Literally unplayable, and judging by the thread and lack of any reply from the Dev, nobody has any idea WHY its unplayable for some people.
Just tells me its a badly made game.
GIFs and screenshots looked interesting, the MC seems to have changed and now looks weirdly fat, not sure whyy such changes were made. But again, all meaningless because the game doesnt let you play it.

I'm really enjoying the wholesome story and dialogue! Has a fantastic group of characters that are def my favorite. The renders look great as well. Really excited for new content to come!!

If possible, I'd love to see some body hair toggles for the girls

how do you break such basic features like saving???

i make a save in slot 1. play a bit. try to overwrite slot 1 with a new save by opening settings > save game > clicking slot 1. guess what happens? i load the save in slot 1. HUH?

alright whatever, you can click the tiny almost invisible X to delete the save in slot 1. i do that, then try to save again. NOPE, saving is now broken. can't make a save in ANY slot.

these are probably some of the best animations i've seen. Love the choice of cast members. I just wish it was also available for mac. I can't wait for the next update this took me by surprise honestly.

Honestly one of the best animated games I've played in quite a while. There's little content as of now but I hope as updates come through it will get better.

Pros:

• Around 1 hour to complete
• There is a gallery/progress checker
• Sandbox map is easy to navigate
• Mini games included
• The parody characters are well made
• The H-scenes are extremely well animated
• Day/night cycle isn't janky or anything

Cons:

• Extremely empty map with barely anything to do right now
• The mini game with the hearts and stuff isn't really fun and feels incomplete
• Obviously very little content. Time should fix that.
• Tbh I don't know what the story/plot is
• Update 0.0.5 breaks your old saves so beware

Conclusion:

Yeah I recommend this. The game is very bare bones right now but the scenes in the game so far are very much worth your time. I look forward to future updates!

The story may be basic but this is a porn game after all , literally everything else is perfect , incredible animation and models and very unique graphicsNot every game has to have some complicated story

There is a major issue with the game for anyone using Linux or Android where the scenes don't load which essentially make it unplayable. Myself and others have reported it to the developer, but it appears he doesn't really care enough to fix it since he ignores anyone reporting the error and addresses everyone else.

I've made an attempt to troubleshoot the issue, since usually I can fix issues leftover by developers, It's usually something like case sensitivity errors with files, but that did not work.

The game it self runs relatively smooth for a Unity game, but that seems to be the only thing going for it right now. The reason I'm not adding any stars for this is because the main reason anyone would play these games would be for the Animations.

If the issue is resolved I can change the review, but at this point it should either be listed as a Windows only game or it should actually run on the platforms it claims to run on.

Edit, It looks like the newer version is working on Linux, although pressing space during Daisy's blowjob gives the same screen. That said I am updating my score to be fair.

The game has better animations than most. I don't like how the developer really handled an issue being reported, but he did eventually fix it in the newer version at least. I'm not going to deduct any stars for the developer though, I'm just not going to support on Patreon because of it.

As far as the criticism he receives on this thread for using pre-existing models that were created by scragboy. That's really just another part of game development, not everyone has the skill/time to make a character and rig them. If they purchase/download public models that is exactly what they are for and it's common practice in indie game development.

I think a good portion of those folk are looking for a way to justify the fact that they are pirating his content. I won't take the high ground regarding that, I know what this site is.

I'm reducing a star because the game still doesn't have great climax animations. Additionally there appears to be an unknown amount of content locked behind the "master key". (Although that might just be for unlocking story content without going through the story.) and the gray screen that appears during the Daisy Blowjob repeatable. Otherwise the game runs surprisingly smooth on Linux, which is also extremely rare for Unity games.

just ran thru v 004 and i really love the models altho they all look a little familiar somehow

the animations are simple loops but ya get a few different stages with a few different angles each so each event is far better than most youll find here

its still early in development so theres only a handful of events but the dev seems to be making pretty good progress

but i got some gripes like lack of bodytype variety and that clicky minigame and scragboy not gettin credit for his bigass work

but past the gripes this is a lil harem game that looks like a grower

Excellent game and good animations. I look forward to future updates very soon. The game should be expanded further; it seems too short since it's still very new and has few animations. But the girls are well designed, although the breasts could be firmer.

Since it’s still a tech demo of sorts, I’ll leave my full review once the game is done. As for the current game, it looks interesting. The characters and animations are great, but the gameplay and content leave room for improvement, as it feels quite barren right now.

For what it is, though, it looks promising so far, and I hope the developer gets the support they deserve.

Mansion Days is honestly a great game, and there are a lot of great things about it that stand out but im just gonna say -
First off, the art style is gorgeous.
The character designs and backgrounds are soooo beautifully done (My fav thing tbh)
Only con imo is fast asf storyline, but meh the pros clearly outweighs it

The game has a lot of potential. Right now, most of the map is empty and there’s very little to do, but you can tell from the animations that if the developer continues working on it, it will be an amazing game.

need more girls and better navigation systems however the game animations are incredible and I hope its continue like that with more character and more story
I put in in excellent cuz I wanna see more of this game

Sandbox but who wants to explore an empty house with no characters. It would've been nice to know the was nothing from this point on. I skipped the Prologue and was sent into the game, looked in all 40 rooms twice, and the only thing you can interact with is your bed "Sleep now? What are you, a cat?"

First of all, the animation is amaaazing, nothing to pick about the quality and consistency. Character is also very good looking and stylistic. But that's pretty much for all now. I understand this could be a very long term project and it's in very early stage, which is all fine.

What I wanted to say is the navigation, I know that probably in future there will be a lot of new stuff for all of the rooms in this game but currently it's just not necessary for making all of the rooms available since you are not going to use more than 90% of them.

Anyway, looks very promising. Keep up the good work.

Maybe cutdown the dialogue and build up a little bit and just go straight to the good part. It seems that there is already enough sexual tension from the beginning between the LIs and mc. Ex. Zoe's memory 3 feels unnecessary.

I see lots of potential in this game. Just fix your navigation system, and maybe the looks of the MC. The rest is perfectly fine, the story starts pretty good. We have a typical MC who moves to a house full of women. The renders LOOK FLAWLESS. I really love the looks of the characters and the animations too. As I said before, MC needs to be worked on because he doesn't look as good as the other characters.

Frankly there's nothing really here and with the nothing update states there's a long way to go. Meaningful story, scenes that aren't just teases to bulk up the scene counter, animations that aren't rendered terribly where you can count the pixels. Also add characters that aren't just rip offs of popular cartoons and games.
