Honestly, while the premise is really simple and done decently well—it's Plants vs Zombies, but erotic and bondage-themed—it just... doesn't really hold up in the long run.
For one thing, the map just feels a tiny bit too cramped. Comparing it to PvZ again, it's one tile too small in both height and width; but the map is enlarged to the point that part of it is obscured by the character icons at the bottom. Everything feels just a bit too large, which I suppose if your only goal is to look at the chibi sprites, it does well enough for that.
The second point against it (
and this is a personal gripe more than anything), the whole point of PvZ is merely the strategic placement of units. Making it so that you have to
reload your characters' guns every ten seconds or so just makes it even more tedious than it ought to be, especially when you need to click twice or even three times to actually
trigger the reload. And it's easy to just forget about your rearmost units in the early game (i.e.: Freya the Sniper), which are crucial to taking out the hopping miko enemies that only they can hit.
And to that end, third and finally, once you get into to 2-1 and beyond, the game is utterly trivialized. "Lila the Gunner" is the perfect unit, even when not upgraded: high rate of fire, good damage, and best of all,
no ammo consumption. The only negative aspect she has against her is that she can't hit the mikos, a problem made up for by the next unit you get, "Scarlet the Pyro". Once you get those two units, the game is practically over already.
In fact, let me quickly rank the units for you:
I could bring up other nitpicky points, like how the last level doesn't reward you any stars (
so grind 2-7 instead if you wanna buff your girls); or how there are "quests" that are literally impossible to get (
complete 20 levels? ...get 62 level stars? ...farm for 11000 upgrade stars?!)... but honestly, if I docked points for every little gripe I had, this game would probably receive a rating in the negatives. It's short, sweet, and at least has good artwork carrying it (
that you can view any time, thankfully). I can't justify more than
two stars.
