Just wondering how much of this game is under some form of time crunch? Like how many (if any) quests have a time limit to complete them? Do slaves skills degrade if you don't maintain them? And will bandits slowly take over if I'm not active in taking them out?

Guess I'm just asking how efficient I should be with my time or if you can skip through days pretty fast

The only quest that I can thing about with time limit it´s de Denghi Invasion. Mind you, my last run was 8.4, I can not say anything about the new ones...

The only quest that have time limit I think there's only 1 or two quest, girl from furry tavern and prowler quest, and maybe dengi invasion if you turn it on, the dengi isn't strictly on time, but relate to that since the city soldier deteriorate time to time. It doesn't really matter if the city are overrun with bandits and your control is 0, it might hurt your income may not. You can play the game with your own phase.

Around day 1000 there will be a Dengi Invasion, and if the government/military is weak, the Dengi can win, leading to a game over.

No real time limits to any quests that I can remember.

Skills do not deteriorate, unless there is a specific trait/reason for it. Affection can and will deteriorate over time.

Uh... what's going on here? Why is a portion of my slaves suddenly gaining 2 fear and bleeding 2 affection (display is disabled for affection changes above 120) every day for 6 days? I am doing my normal routine of training some guys in the morning and preaching asatru to 4 particularly stubborn heretics in the evening, this particular bunch is doing their normal routine streetwalking (like they did for the past 300-400 days), in fact, I almost tend to forget they exist. The one thing they all have in common and the others don't is willpower well below zero. But it too was well below zero for 300-400 days. Why now?

Their corruption is maxed out at 100, happiness is 100 or even 125-130... I'm at a loss.

Ed: A minor correction, one of them has willpower 13. The rest are at -7...-10

Ed2:

<<if _ser.willpower lte 19 and $adpos3 is 1>><<set _chance+=45>><<set _ser.afraid+=1>><</if>>

Is it because I use "fury" in devotion sermons? But I'm preaching to followers, they aren't even present.

What is the max affection grade?
Let's call it a "cap"
It cuts off at 130, anything above it is dropped the next day. And although "undying" masterlove is sadly not as undying as it claims to be, it decreases slowly and randomly, not 2 points every night for each character with willpower poor and below (and only them).

It is not unreasonable to presume affection bleeding might be caused by constant state of fear, the main question is, what is it that makes them gain fear.

You are going to hate my answer
As I mention, I don't interact with them at all, these fear gains happen passively.
This one confirms my hypothesis, though:
  • Automatic Affection drop each day (-2 points down to Neutral Affection).
But it doesn't explain what causes them fear in the first place.

Guess I'll try to stop using fury in sermons and see if it helps. Don't think my rants should be scaring those not invited to the shrine, though.

Just started a new game to try out the new patch, and maaaaan Sloppy is rough. Adrienne apparently always has both Sloppy and Bratty, which makes her kind of a nightmare to deal with. Sloopy is a 15% chance to decrease discipline. All the ways to increase discipline (guard duty, stables, arena, academy, etc.) have a 15% or lower chance to proc, so unless you assign them to multiple sources, discipline gain will average out to zero.

You can reduce Sloppy by increasing perfectionist, but unless you start at character creation with the taskmaster trait, you're shit out of luck, because raising perfectionism requires 60 discipline. And the one source that COULD outpace the discipline loss, house maid with a maid dress and eventually the head maid title, straight up disables discipline gain.

So to actually get rid of Sloppy, you need to make them a liability in your tavern, keep them afraid, have them trained by a workaholic, and then reward their bad behavior by buying them a pony.

I'm mostly salty because Sloppy fucks up the one thing that Adrienne is supposed to be good at, which is accounting.

Guard Duty + Educator + a title is my go to. I do have a significant Medicine stat, so training her Medicine up is fairly routine for me.
Change sloppy for her from 100 to 0
Sloppy works like Pure/Malevolent and Shy/Extroverted. Sloppy is lumped with Perfectionist.
0-25 = Sloppy
26-75 (or some specific number I do not care to look up again) = none
75-100 = Perfectionist

Wait, she always has both? Since when? Mine just has superficial.

IIRC she (and some other mercs and such) does get somewhat randomized traits, but they're set at day start instead of upon recruitment.

So it sounds like you just got unlucky.

Guard duty gains depend on the skill of the captain, but it's way over 15% on a good captain. Also Educators exist. You definitely can gain way more discipline way faster than Sloppy loses it, at least up to 80.

From 0.8.4 changelog:
  • An assigned maid has a 15% daily chance of decreasing her Sloppy trait (upcoming feature).
Although I haven't tested it myself.

But nevertheless, as we've established, gaining discipline is way easier than you think, and all you need to do is keep it above 60 while the title you've given them increases their Perfectionist trait out of the Sloppy area.

Since the patch those traits were created. So 0.8.4.3 or 0.8.4.2. If you have a Perfectionist Adrienne already, then the autopatcher will not give her Sloppy. But those without (or maybe without max discipline, since my Bud had no perfectionist but no Sloppy), they get it. My Dexter suddenly got Sloppy and I did not realize it. As for Bratty, I am not fully sure what's the mechanic for that. I know my Dakota and Aisha got autopatched with Bratty, but other guaranteeds like Felix did not get it.

Well, my Adrienne got neither, Dakota and Aisha got Bratty and Evelyn is the only Sloppy.

Bratty is not as bad as Sloppy, but I sure hope there's gonna be a better mechanic for getting rid of it.
