It's $skillroll lte 5, which is not that little. In practice, I could've sworn it happens on every 3rd-4th attempt. What diceroll have you enabled in options? I've noticed 5d20 is rather hampering for the rolls that need extreme values.

Uh... what's up with medicine skill, anyway? Are we seriously expected to bring the likes of Caitlin, Eve and Julie to fight a 8 feet tall cannibal savage instead of an actual combat team? I can't see how this combat can be won without abusing combat stimpacks, and there's literally no way to raise medicine to the necessary 60 unless you're born with it.
You the player can raise Medicine by reading books and using med kits after combat.
Everyone else can be educated by you, or a high Medicine Educator.
Actually there is. Reviving knocked out companions has a 33%(?) chance to raise MCs medicine skill by one point up to 90.
Reading books gives 40+ skill points. So even if you start at 0 you can raise your skill so Doctor's Kits are useable. Even though not necessary cause "Stabilze" should have the same 33% chance.
If you want to grind it: get some low health slaves, assign them as followers and let them get knocked out during combat. Nets you 4 chances to raise your skill after each fight.
But that's counterintuitive to the point of absurd. Past the few starting weeks, your A-team never gets knocked out except in a couple of particularly hard boss battles. Using some fodder instead and getting them downed in order to train medicine on them? There is grind, and then there is utter nonsense. And without it, even with all the books you're still stuck well below 60.
Using high medicine slaves as educators makes more sense, but Eve only comes very late in the game, and Julie and Caitlin aren't very good. Either way, that means you gotta start preparing for Dengi invasion for like in a year in advance, and not in a way anyone would find sensible, but by making your A-team expert doctors instead

Isn't it better? You only have to spend points on Charm and when you update to the newest version, your Beauty and Charisma is exactly your Charm level before (well, Beauty has a cap of 90 so it will get reduced to 90 without Attractive).
The good news is that some of the best combat NPCs start with around 50 Medicine. So you are almost there. The bad news is that Paragons cannot be placed under Educators. So it is mostly Cassius that you can max that way.
Just checked in the game cause I *never* had an issue to raise my MCs medicine to at least 60.
Minimum skill you start with is 10. Books add between 43 and 48 points. Brainy trait adds another total of 9 points.
So 53 medicine is the lowest skill an unlucky MC without Brainy trait and F5-scumming can have.
7 more points in worst case scenario which should come naturally through reviving knocked out companions in the early game especially when on average you need even less.
I had 55 by the end. I only had to revive one or two companions like twice in the entire game. Was I playing it wrong?

Well, thanks for helping me no longer feel any guilt over debugging medicine to the values I wanted. For every bad design, there is a good cheat.
Well, like i said. You can have a whore up in 1-2 days. Or train a slave for years. The difference in money income isnt really noticable.
Question about clea liberated specifically about the distrust, if let's say I enslaved someone, and turn that person who I enslave to a servant, does it still count as 'enslavement' for clea distrust? Or is it revert back?
Educator combat training template seems wonky...One girl hasn't gained a point of combat skills (or traits) in all the time she's been assigned, but then again another one of the trainees has received 6 points of Brawler and 3 in Warrior that cannot have come from anywhere else.
EDIT: Seems I figured it out myself. Looks like having some other assignments (girls were at academy & guard), prevents combat training, including Brawler/Warrior training. Academy prevented it, Guard didn't.

Apparently, it does not count for distrust. But there's a lot of things I am not sure about Clea. I do not know if it is actively updated during midnight calculations.
All jobs have a penalty. Except the Chancellor. The maid and guard jobs should not have penalties, in my opinion, but they apparently do.

All other Educator templates seem to work just fine with slaves assigned to jobs, away assignments not withstanding obviously, but a slave with an Academy assignment simply would not gain Melee, Ranged, Brawler or Warrior.
Unassigned from the Academy, the training worked just fine on the slave in question.

Not without modifying the code, no. Hardcoded to not have the option.
step 1: have the tier IV version.
Step 2: do the lost relative storyline to get the slave girl.
Step 3: make her love you enough to tell you about your brother.
Step 4: continue the quest as instructed. You'll meet her as a freewoman first.
Step 5: Spoilers happen, go to Crystal Heights Slave Market to pick up your archaeologist babe.
