Faerin makes Faerin games.
There are no other games like Faerin games to me.
Sure there are plenty of "family house" style games, but Faerin's games feel unique to him.
MoTH is to this day one of the only games I have played multiple times. Mostly because I really, really enjoy the way Veronica's character is written and the general slow corruption of her. As well as the focus on detailed storylines for a handful of characters.
Furthermore, because I very much enjoy his particular style of sandbox, where you can handle characters storyline mostly in the order you want, and you always have clear tips telling you what to do next. It's simple enough to not be confusing, but detailed enough to make it fun.
However, Mystwood Manor was a bit dissapointing to me. A great game in it's own right, but not for me. There were more characters, and therefore less focus on each one.
Midnight sin seems to be more in line with MoTH . The game literally jokingly reference it. Mystwood manor graphically / esthetically is a step up from MoTH , and the animations have improved quite a bit. The improvements in graphics and animation and every other skill Faerin has polished during Mystwood manor over to a MoTH style game pleases me greatly. The addition of good sfx usage during H scenes is also a huge +.
In general, Midnight sin currently feels quite empty. However, that's simply because development has just reached the point of finishing the foundation. And the foundation is really solid. In general Midnight sun feels like a more polished MoTH structure wise currently. The UI is cleaner, (but oh so familiar).
Victoria is great so far, and I hope she can be the next Veronica for me personally (but ofc different, just saying hope she will give me a similar vibe). In terms of character designs I love the character designs here even more than MoTH which is a great start.
The game truly just feels like MoTH but the MC is adult this time (which is better to me) and Faerin has improved leaps since making MoTH and get to make this one even better. I couldn't be more exicted. I have no doubts Midnight sin will have it's own identity though. I'm not trying to say he is ripping himself of, just that it's closer to that style game than his most recent one.
Honestly Faerin has just become such a polished developer at this point, and consistently completes his games. Can't wait to see where it goes. Only thing im slightly worried about is supernatural elements. Mystwood made me feel like non of the characters were really romanced or corrupted by the MC, but influenced by supernatural elements. That removes most of the sensuality to me. Hope the story doesn't rely too much on that this time. Can't wait to see what this game is like when every day is filled with events.
TLDR:
It's early days and there isn't much content for a sandbox game. Makes the world feel a bit empty. However, the foundation is rock-solid. The game feels very polished (visually and audio wise). Once this gets some content im sure it will be amazing. Faerin has proved himself to consistently produce quality.
