Unity - Midnight Sin [v0.8.0] [Faerin]

    Pros:
I like the premise of being a bodyguard and lost son/new family.
The girls are attractive, distinct and feel geniune.
The UI features are awesome and improved.

    Cons:
The gameplay is severely lacking, feels like a stepdown from their previous sandboxes. You pretty much start skipping time almost immediately. Which makes it less immersive. HUGE timegaps of nothing happening. Might as well make it a "Morning, Day, Evening, Night" system, which makes it less work on the backend with less character movement. Maybe something like summer memories, the core of their system is great.

Or make it an AVN with choices. Sandbox games are huge swings, either they are one of the best most immersive games, or you are there spamming buttons wondering wtf all these are for, unfortunately this falls into the latter despite the wonderful other feature this game has.

I think a system overhaul can save this game, which has decent narrative structure. It's just the "game" part that is holding it back.

It's a good game, but it lacks diversity in adult content and has outdated, ancient gameplay.

The renders are good and the characters are amazing, but the scenes themselves are extremely basic with no eroticism or kinks — just very vanilla. The BDSM content is boring and generic — everything in that department has been seen multiple times before in previous games by the same developer and in other games.

It's a shame because the situation and story could have led to far more interesting plot twists and situations, but it's just simple and boring in the end.

The gameplay is the biggest failure. We are returning to the 'good old' Big Brother days, but those days are better left as a good memory. The 24-hour cycle, the rigid schedule to advance in the game, the money farming and the buying of items are all outdated. I feel like I'm in 2017 again. The developer didn't evolve in this department, and unfortunately it's a big let-down.

Good game, we expect many more updates soon, and Olivia is an incredible character, we hope there will be action with her, she misses the sounds when she has sex, the levels are very well designed and the levels and stories are pretty good, hopefully she will not leave this game and will get an update soon.

Renders look great and has some nice build-up, a little slow and definitely got cock-blocked by having too many things I need to do coinciding with mandatory "chauffeur" scenes where nothing happened which was annoying as shit but overall like it. Should be mentioned somewhere in-game that the bonus points don't currently do anything. Spent waaay too long looking for how to spend them and earning them for nothing.

There's nice models and animations, and an alright story, but this really should be a kinetic novel. The sandbox contributes nothing and just adds unnecessary clicks with little to no variation in the sandbox from story elements, thus breaking immersion, and the only progression really are just MC's stats and relationship counters. The whole gameplay loop is just do something, check the hints, then do something else, but being only 25% of the time because the other 75%, you're just clicking to move time forward. There's just nowhere near enough depth to justify the sandbox 'feature'.

Well, it's been ages since i've played a game this good. This is one of those games that gives you nostalgia about CMA and The Patriarch. The Domination theme is intense and I like it. This is one of those games that doesn't shy from embracing the male domination and BDSM at all. The characters have depth and personality. The story line is pretty thrilling and engaging.

A great game (another from this developer). All the girls are incredibly hot, and the story is quite interesting; you can get quite invested into it sometimes. Also, it has regular updates, which is quite refreshing.

v 0.7.2 As with most Faerin games it starts slow but the girls are actually interesting enough that I didn't skip much dialogue.
The scenes are great and well animated too.

    Pros:
    1. A sandbox that isn't annoying to navigate
    2. The girls are actually fun as well being gorgeous
    3. Mini games aren't irritating
    4. Hint system is actually helpful.

    Cons:
    1. The main plot about the company and death of the father is non-existent till now
    2. The Online game bits are dull.

Overall it's very good but if they can progress the main story in a satisfying way it could be bumped to 5 stars.

I tried twice, rolling the fucking mouse like an idiot in what appeared to be a backward roll arm hold that didn't stop the fucking timer no matter which way you rolled the fucking mouse, and the reason for the 1 star is there's no way to turn the fucker off... twice was enough, I'm out of here.

    [0.7.2]

I've played both Man of the House and Mystwood Manor, and while those two games didn't look probably half as good and polished as this one, they felt much better on immersion.

The rating was also heavily affected by a single, but explicit femdom scene of the last (0.7.2) update, with MC as sub. That's a big no for me, and doesn't match game tags as well.

To be fair, it is possible it can be avoided, if you choose angel choice instead of the devil, but that is completely unclear from the context (moreso because devil choice is usually associated with MC dom scenes), and you're locked on the choice unless you reload (rollback doesn't help).

When taken together with the fact that this is essentially a kinetic novel disguised as sandbox, and in my experience you're unlikely to be able to progress without finishing quests for all characters, this sucked bigtime for me.

At any rate, here are the ratings:

Plot/storytelling: 4/5. Very decent as far as porn games go, some suspension of belief needed, but basically quite OK.

Visuals/sounds: 5/5. Simply excellent. A bit shortish animated scenes, but there is the quality that smoothes the shortness.

Maledom: 2,5/5. Quite softcore. Don't get me wrong, the scenes are hardcore porn enough, but all the domination is quite PC, even if it is aided by decent dialogue. It's good for real life, but for fantasy one may want something more. With the addition of the last update's femdom scene I am tempted to give it 1/5, but let's leave it as it is.

It should also be noted that most scenes are not repeatable ingame, and you have to go to gallery for re-enactment. This is one of the things that break immersion a bit. You fked Madelaine yesterday, but since then you have to leave her alone? Right. Sounds as being a Master is not dependent on you...

All together: 2/5 -- sometimes the sum is less than the components. A visually compelling, somewhat grindy (I didn't realize you should go to fight in evenings for pretty amount of cash) mix. Honestly, I much prefer Man of the House -- that is still one of my favourites. Mystwood Manor is in the middle between this and MoftH, imo. Midnight Sin feels like made explicitly and mostly for money.

It's really well done, renders and animations are great, but it's boooring af
You can do like 3 things a day, rest of the time is clicking next hour/day, you can only interact with LI rarely, repeatable dialogues don't give you anything...
And it's a fully linear VN in a sandbox format, you're just waiting for the next scene with each LI to then unlock the next, etc
And after like 3 hours you havent done anything lewd except a couple boob peeks.. what a waste
    Boooooring

Most of it is great, but what I want to complain about is that although there are some hacks or cheats available, I still cannot fully unlock the gallery or animations, which are forcibly unskippable.

Also, after playing for 7 hours, I downloaded the latest version and deleted the old one only to find out that the old save files need to be manually copied to be used, which means everything has to start over.

This is a huge waste of time. However, the gaming experience is good; I just have serious dissatisfaction with these two points because other games do not have this kind of issue, so I had to give up and quit. ...

    Good: the renders
The renders for all the locations are excellent. They even have variations depending time of day and what's happening in the scenes. There aren't any of the commonly seen and overused daz environments, and i don't remember seeing any low polygon and low quality assets either. Very immersive.

The renders for the characters are also excellent. They are all very attractive. They don't suffer from same face. They all have different body proportions, but none of them have ludicrous proportions either. There is also care taken for the clothes they wear, and none of them have vacuum formed outfits common with daz.

All the scenes are animated. These scenes are pretty good for daz. They are not the best, but are not the worst either. They aren't just 2 key frames forwards and reverse, but they aren't NLT level either with simulated boob physics either. Each animation has 3 speeds: these aren't variations, just different playback speeds. There are alternate angles if you have the patreon version, but this is usually just a close up. There are no coming animations, just a static image of the outcome. There are no player choices during sex scenes.

    Good: story and character
The characters all have distinct personality and pretty unique stories. None of the characters are unintentionally annoying, and they are all pretty likeable after their arcs. The characters are also not static, and there is visible character development.

The MC is also not an annoying brat who is stupid or only thinks with his dick.

The story is not bad. It doesn't have the problem of ridiculous porn logic. The characters are motivated by their own desires instead of stupidity: The MC isn't the only one doing the manipulation, and there is some twist to the story that is pretty neat.

    Good: UI/UX
Navigation is very user friendly. The map is always available and shows you where each character is.

Despite not being renpy, most of the renpy's QoL features have been brought over. Just just rolling back to see earlier dialog, skipping unseen, and the ability to disable text typing. You can't use rollback to pick different dialog choices, but since there aren't many choices, it's not a big deal.

    Bad: linearity
Despite the seemingly open world gameplay, compared to the author's previous title, this feels very linear. Outside of maxxing out the MC's stats, the entire progression is linear. You're just looking at the hints for the next scene to unlock for a girl then waiting until the required time and going to the required location. In the end, you're basically just skipping time for days at a time to unlock the next event.

The girls' stats don't seem to matter. I've never been limited by their stats. Each scene increases the girl's stats just enough to unlock the next scene. If a scene has multiple gates, you basically unlock each one level at a time. There is no point repeating activities you've already done with a girl: it doesn't raise stats after the first time, and there aren't any variations until the next level is unlocked.

After the that first dialog choice in the intro, there isn't really any player choice. After the intro, player dialog choices are just scene variations locked behind linear progression, and there are no bad choices after they've been unlocked. It would be more interesting if these choices aren't locked, but rather have negative consequences like the intro warned until the necessary relationship progress is reached.

You can't even buy things in the store whenever you want. If you try to buy the swimsuits or lingerie before the scene requiring them is unlocked, the MC just says "I can't think of a reason to buy this".

I also feel the characters are quite similar to those in Man of the House. In many ways, their traits resemble each other, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

    Overall its very nice.

    [v0.7.0]

2 - stars for"early" game (first 8 hours or so)
5 - stars for lategame, where it actually gets interesting (last 20%). It really pays off for all the suffering to get there.

I believe this game will get more hot content in future updates, since it feels like barely started to show good scenes. So thats why 4 stars.

    Pros:
+ Hot girls with beautiful faces and different personalities
+ Story that keeps tension with unexpected twists.
+ Great hint system, that shows almost everything you need to do to progress further.

    Cons:
    - Its not a sandbox. It looks like sandbox, but almost all scenes are unique and not repeateble through gameplay. You can watch them in gallery. But it ruins the feeling of sandbox where you can interact with someone to repeat some hot scene.
    - Useless dialog system, that gives a bit of basic info about all the characters and nothing more. No interactions, like hugging someone for example.
    - "Early" game feels empty (thats first 7-8 hours). Just 2-3 meaningful actions per day and lots of skipping time forward. There is nothing to do except repeating the same actions with slight variations.
    - Early game will leave you with blue balls. Just teasing and interrupting the scenes over and over.
    - The puzzle with books and colors is insane. You need 200IQ to guess it yourself or look for walkthrough online. Thankfully, I found a walkthrough.

    AMRAVN

After a shocking murder, a family is under police watch inside a mansion. You’re a bodyguard, blessed with the duty to protect and escort the family. But, protect from what exactly? The sin at midnight? You'd better keep one eye open if you want to find out what midnight has to offer.

    STORY
You’re Mike Bishop, an ambitious close protection specialist, who was put out of business after a pandemic. One day, your supposed father is murdered before you get offered a security job that changes your life. The offer is by Madeline, the ex-wife of your husband. You end up having to live with her and her all too tempting tenants. But beware, Madeline doesn't take kindly to you messing around with her girls.

While Midnight Sin is the most concentrated Faerin sandbox experience, its story is actually pretty straightforward. There are twists that keep you guessing, but most are fairly stereotypical in comparison to earlier Faerin games. Each of the characters has their own district personality, which does keep things fresh enough. It just feels like more of a simpler story than Man of the House, Faerin's first game.

What the sin of midnight is about, you'll uncover eventually as you realize there's something special about the family you're protecting. Mike's character gradually develops as well, until he's so deeply invested he can't do anything but go investigate further. That's where the game picks up, because Mike has to confront more than a few situations in order to keep everything nice and safe.

Olivia, Victoria and Annabelle all behave differently and while stereotypical, Faerin does allow moments of creativity to shine through. The attention-seeker wants to be appreciated, the introvert wants to be challenged and the rebel wants to be… restricted. As you learn to navigate all the other women in the house, Mike will slowly come into his own and perhaps create a few secrets and sins he would enjoy himself.

While the dialog seems better linked together this time around, the overall feel of the story seems less impactful than earlier Faerin games, where families got frisky or hotel guests were haunted. Highlight of the game is a period where Mike is persuaded to do a few tasks, sometimes fearing for what will happen when he does. It's a simple sidestep, but very effective.

The story of Midnight Sin is fine and takes its twist and turns showing you just how sinful a mansion can be. Mike is a bit of a tool, but does have enough personality to be remembered above the sea of average main characters. The developer did a better job of keeping tone, and the whole game is a little tongue-in-cheek in terms of style. Compared to other Faerin games, it's also playing it a bit safer than before. This story won't blow you away, but it will amuse you because of the care it is written with.

The game does step away from the whole murder mystery to focus on the inner family dealings. There are light hints towards incestuous relationships, but these are kept light in mention as to probably not raise too much awareness. It’s still a big question mark what the main takeaway for the story will be. But Faerin has assured us he will wrap the story up nicely and return to the murder plot.

    PRESENTATION
Midnight Sin is gorgeous. The regular Faerin presenting style of a rendered backdrop with a rendered sprite in front of it is still here, and still works. Scenes that have actual interaction in them are fully rendered, and the combination of both work well to sell the illusion of a giant mansion. And a city to go with it, because frequently, you'll have to head outside for work. All the locations look believable and pretty neat, even though some are visited just once or twice. You will spend a lot more time indoors than say, in Man of The House, this game's early inspiration.

The developer learned from Man of the House and really took his time shaping up a bunch of interesting, good looking characters. Yes, Olivia gives off Ashley and Victoria gives off Veronica, but Annabelle and Madeleine throw some new energy into the mix - not to mention the housemaids, who are looking fine. There's more than enough eyecandy for you to feast your eyes on, even if this game is a slow burn. You won't get into the hearts of these women easily, but when you do… they will look good for you.

Intimate scenes work well, as the game tried new angles that previous games didn't tackle. While Midnight Sin lacks the variation that Mystwood Manor offered, the slow burn is captured perfectly through simple glances, poses or tongueslips. All the women have their own moment to shine and on select occasions, even interact with each other, solidifying the idea of a mansion family.

The game features sound and proper animations for intimate scenes, and fits all the bells and whistles for a game in 2025. There’s an entire map of locations to explore, although at the time of writing not all locations are in use yet. Midnight Sin looks good, sounds good and is a nice package to experience.

    GAMEPLAY
The game is a Faerin sandbox game, meaning you can go all around the house at any time. The main puzzle is to find the right time in order to meet a person for their next objective. Each person has a schedule and once you figure the schedules out, you'll be in business. Thankfully, there are hints at the bottom of the screen and there's a whole new UI dedicated to the different characters of the game and their respective achievements. It's sleek, it's neat and it just works well.

Additionally, minigames are added in the form of a rhythmic fighting game, whack-a-squirrel and certain quick time events. Really nice to see AVN developers branch out to these types of interaction and while it's not mandatory, it does help with grinding the money to buy things for the house. Because that's the other part of the game - the grind. Faerin's games always include a bit of grind, although it's not nearly as bad as Man of The House and nowhere near Mystwood Manor.

For each impactful encounter, you can receive love or lust points. Aside from the sandbox, there are dialog options allowing you to respond nice or naughty. When encountering them first, you usually don’t have enough love or lust points to immediately select the intimate option. This means you will probably see both options by the end of the game. Therefore it’s not really dialog choice, but rather progression choice.

Faerin games pride themselves in grindy, elaborate sandboxes. While this sandbox is smaller in size than his other games, it does feel like you witness the characters develop more throughout the game. Just make sure you properly adjust expectations for the mansion sandbox as you go in, and you will have no trouble puzzling your way through the lives of multiple women.

    OVERALL
Midnight Sin is a spiritual successor to the Man of the House formula, but instead focuses more on family matters rather than the outside world. If you love a good corruption story with a little murder mystery in a sandbox, this is a must play. Be mindful that it’s only playable on PC, though. But that exclusivity will get you an interactive sandbox with various unique elements, and some sins to indulge in.

An excellent game by every metric.

The paths respective to each girl are a genuine joy to explore, as each character’s personality shines in their limelight; and the dichotomy of contrasting personalities leaves a savory taste in your mouth — like glimmering twilight and brightness of daylight. An obvious highlight, but an execution of this degree is surefire a competitive edge in its genre.

Even though there is more than a plethora of characters to be had, the game—at this stage—inevitably leaves you yearning for more. Like the perpetual stew, this game needs more content, more time to develop, and more to simmer in its own creative juices.

To those still tentative: technically, you could play it now and get a decent nut in, but you could also wait for a more complete experience. I promise you the holiest of nuts. The nut to end all nuts. Patience is a virtue.

I'm honestly a little shocked you can still be successfull with such a formulaic and predictable game in 2025.
This is a game you've seen a dozen times before only ..... worse somehow. Instead of perfecting and modernizing the formula of this "corrupt your family/sandbox/management" sort of game, or whatever you want to call it, it has all the problems that should be a thing of the past.

Bad Pacing, generic characters, boring plot, obnoxious "features" to waste your time, forced and unnatural progression of the relationships etc.

And ironically, many sandbox type games promise freedom, but in reality are among the most linear and railroaded experiences in the adult game business. This game is no exception. You have no freedom, you are forced to follow a specific path with zero possibilities to influence anything, including forced LIs.
Interesting characters or engaging writing could salvage some of the above, but you can find very little of that here. The MC's countless monologues are especially annoying. The whole incest thing is also done poorly. To be fair though, that's true for almost every incest game. Very few game take their time to make these relationships taboo and exciting, instead thinking a "oh my god, this is my sister" from time to time is enough.

So yeah, that was really disappointing.

I have played version 0.6.3 and It's another great game from Faerin. It's a sandbox, like his previous games, and a well executed sandbox at that.

Great models, interesting characters and fun.

Knowing that this game will be completed, monthly updated and not abandoned nor dragged out is a huge plus.
