It means exactly what it sounds like, the dev has decided to take a bit of a break before continuing development, don't worry we'll eventually get an update, I'd rather they take a break now than burn themselves out and giving us low quality content.
I hope everything is okay with the Dev, i really love this game. i hope we all get a update on the dev and the game.

My guess is that we'll see a patreon post or whatever on June 1 letting people know that he's restarting patreon pledges and resuming work on the game. It seems the most logical time to restart his pledges, otherwise, as we've seen here, people will shit their pants and start crying about the game being abandoned.
