At the end of last year I thought this thread was getting better and more tolerable but in 2019 so far it has gone down the shitter again. The influx of the exact same asinine questions and/or presumptions has really gone overboard.
No matter what he did with the game some people had to give him shit for it.

• so far he has released only great updates filled with content yet some of the left-hand-fapping and right-hand-CTRL-button-holding edgelord crowd constantly complains about short 10 - 15 min updates
• he gave us a surprise arc with Zuri & Suri but the "fans" complained about wasted resources on side characters which could have been used for the family girls
• he tried doing faster updates with v0.3 but the "fans" complained about the lack of content
• he gave us an awesome Caroline update but the "fans" complained about her dialogue so much that Onyxdime had to change it
• the hardliner Caroline fans are especially obnoxious and the worst and most vocal of the bunch (yes we get it Caroline is indeed absolutely stunning and fucking amazing, stop being dicks about it). They're constantly downplaying any update without content for her and I don't want to imagine how unbearable they are going to be when her arc comes to a temporary (?) end in v0.6.
• he did regular content polls and let his community decide about the new update but still gets shit for neglecting some characters like Celia, Judy or MC's classmates
• he did a surprise Xmas episode but instead of being grateful his "fans" prefer to complain about v0.6 taking so long to release
• now that the game has become hugely popular and makes a decent five-figure sum each month more and more "fans" have been assuming without any proof that ICSTOR has gotten complacent, lazy and spending his money on a swagger lifestyle instead of a new 2080 TI rig or new staff members
• the sheer amount of people asking about a release date and putting more pressure after every update has also increased over time and lately has even become critical

At this point I really can't fathom how awful it must be for ICSTOR himself to be on the receiving end of such demotivating feedback and I hope he has the mental strength to hang in there. Having such a toxic community must be unbearable and I fear for the medium- to long-term future of this game and (god forbid!) it wouldn't even surprise me if he decides to take a break from this business for health reasons.

So fingers crossed that the Discord announcement isn't something bad.

I GOT the same feeling for AWAM, people just can't wait, I mean I have to go to university and I have other things in my mind rn, I really don't understand why people have to be so mean... Like, we aren't waiting for the next COD, BF, AC...

I get what you're saying but when it comes to porn games I've witnessed the complete opposite. That's just my personal experience though.

According to ICSTOR there will come a situation update on his patreon page later this week explaining the current situation. So if everyone just sit tight (dont see it happening but still...) we will hopefully know more by then.

I have to disagree with you @Sam
Off the top of my head the only dev that tried to change the scope of his work is Dark Silver (from Big Brother), and we all know how that went

In most cases, if not all, once the dev gets tons of cash from patreon they get slower and slower, or just give up and peace out with the cash.

Many successful games have increased in scope, Milfy City being one of them, Summertime Saga, Mythic Manor, Waifu Academy to name a few.

As projects mature it's understandable that updates take longer as there are more paths and stories to work on, and continuing ever advancing stories takes longer to develop and write. When the scope or size of the game also increases, it's inevitable that development time takes longer as well. You can't just expect more money to solve the problem either, that is, until cloning technology is invented.

Too many people have no idea of the time and effort it takes to develop games, and expect everything yesterday. Sure some developers are shady, but don't tar all developers with the same brush just because a minority act poorly.

I'm not trying to defend ICSTOR and even not a patron of him, but want to point out that sometimes a dev gets slower and slower due to branching of story and/or sandbox design issues which gets harder in time with big content games or just burn out or real life issues. So it's not always about scam.

But if you guys are still searching for a dev who works like a machine, then here comes a shameless advertising of a dev who really works hard, never burned out (and hopefully never will be), releasing content filled updates always on time for months and his game is his main job.

My thought has been that ICSTOR has a pretty strong rep before this when it came to meeting his deadlines. Seems like shit has gotten real for him, so I don't think it's a big issue to cut him a little slack for it.

Eh I think the problem most people are having is not that the game is being updated it's that there's been no real check in type update at all, one thing AAA develpers are good for is keeping the fanbase updated throughout the process ex Cyberpunk 2077 now I know yearly releases and monthly are two different thinks but I think it would've helped alot of people if ICSTOR did a weekly or biweekly check in type update not even necessarily about the game but just how he's feeling in general it would help, me personally I can wait however long it takes but I thought I'd throw my two cents in.

I agree communication is important but you also have to take into consideration ICSTOR doesn't have a 400+ member dev team like Cyberpunk 2077 has. CD Projekt definitely has the extra man-power to regulate proper communications. lol

I love CD Projekt Red but there were like 5 years between the teaser trailer of Cyberpunk and last years' E3 trailer/gameplay demo with nothing inbetween. Also the Witcher 3 was delayed twice if I remember correctly. Once from like Q4 2014 to march 2015 and then again to may 2015.
I'm assuming people complained about that too, but after those delays, the end product was so good, it is considered to be one of the best games of this generation and turned the company from this relatively small, somewhat niche, promising dev team to everyones darling that is developing the most anticipated game right now. Almost like those delays turned out to be worth it...

I don't have a problem with longer waits. the game is really high quality, it takes time to do it right. Only thing I would like is more frequent development updates, just to get a sense on how things are going.

Side-note. Just replayed the game today. Might need to make replaying this a weekly thing, for you know...reasons.
