VN - Ren'Py - Monster College [v0.8.4] [Monster Eye Games]

Really liked this game and would recommend to download it. Its really well made:
+ great visuals
+ lots of different girls
+ interesting story with promising storylines
Will come back and download as soon as updated.

Tried Monster College out based on some of the reviews here and I must say I really like it.

Yes, it is a young man going to college- story but with the added theme of monsters, and it makes for a refreshing story.

Absolutely adore the monster girls and teachers...I can't pick a favorite
The faun, the mermaid, the zombie, the werewolf and vampires and oh my god the ragdoll, might be the best character in the whole game.
Each girl is also clearly distinct in character.

Renders range from good to great (some of the renders of Rachel's face are absolutely gorgeous).

Animations in most scenes could be better and will hopefully improve over time.

This VN has a solid spot in my top 5 favorite VNs and I will definately support the developers through Patreon.

Hope to see lots more content in this VN.

I just read the description and thought it would be worth a try as in all honesty I was intrigued as the premise reminded me of one of my favorite anime shows. Although its not necessarily what I expected from the description it was even better.

The art, sound, and all of the characters have their own unique charms that make you want to get to know each of them better. I could not be happier with how this game is progressing. It also has the interesting detective arc that I like and the ability to be a truly good person and not the usual prick that comes around trying to corrupt women. Fine if you like that sort of game I just prefer a game where you actually get to know the women before jumping into bed. This game has an equal amount of erotic content with a deep story. I hope we get to see more development from the MCs family perspective as it is a little brief and then he is off, as well as more closure or continuance with the beginning relationship. very minor gripes about a great game though.

I found the game interesting and the characters engaging. The characters are well developed and you quickly become attached to them. The story is captivating and leaves you wanting to know what happens next. The world is well set out and you want to learn more.

The only downside is that you can't unlock the gallery of scenes. You have to replay the game to unlock scene choices, especially as your character evolves. It would be nice to be able to unlock scenes you've already seen, so you could revisit them at any time.

All in all, it's a game I'd definitely recommend.

Review for v0.5 :-

A rare gem of a game. Even though this is "just another College VN", the story and premise are unique and fresh. A handsome and capable young man has just discovered he's a monster (werewolf) from a famous lineage, and his whole life is turned topsy turvy when he has to move to this "Monster College" to continue his education and life. Here he must learn to harness and hone his powers, and learn to live in this newfound world where every monster fable that exists, is probably true, and very real. And of course, along the way, meet some beautifully hot monster-girls and have sexual relations with them.

The renders are good, some of the best I've seen. Lighting, posing, backgrounds, scene composition are all competently done. The models are all attractive to me. The girls all have distinct personalities, and their own unique charm. The MC is competent, confident and his personality/actions are portrayed well as you make different choices. The story is intriguing, fairly light-hearted and fun. Updates come out very regularly and frequently, and they're of a very good size as well.

I don't want to spoil any thing else about this awesome project. If you liked what you saw, from the previews or the premise, please give it a try, it's free to do so. And if you liked what you played, certainly consider supporting the dev on their relevant support platforms. Cheers!

I ran into this game before this last update and I am so glad that I did. There is NOTHING that I could say negative about this one. The renders are top notch and I am AMAZED at how this developer can make female monsters of all types look so damn hot. Even the living doll is hot as fuck. I'm not too sure if this is a harem game or a dating sim but, it makes your choices seem like they actually matter and that is a very good thing.

I absolutely LOVE this game. I cannot wait for all future updates.

This game has amazed me tremendously (in a positive sense). An absolutely fantastic story with extremely interesting and wonderful characters, along with incredibly beautiful women. Why does this developer only have 30 Patreons? It's beyond my comprehension. The amount of content is overwhelming, the story is great, and the decisions one can make truly impact the course of the game. To be honest I have never played any game on f95zone as unique as this one. Story... Renders.. Animations... Choices.. The developer totally nailed it.. Everything is top notch as per my experience. I remember when the first version was out I played it and it literally made me wait for the next update! I feel like the game play should never end. The animations needs a little improvements though. I feel some of them are unnecessary, instead of those developer should add more animations to H scenes. The game has some choices that affects the storyline, and this will make you play the game again to see all the scenes, so don't forget to make a save at every option possible.

This was truly great ride(v 0.5) Animations/models are great, story is amazing. My gameplay usually is ctrl speed, however i read trough entire game. Characters are good, funny, LoLed few times. No bugs, english was good and easily read. If this is not 5/5 experience, I am not sure what is

Amazing game that brings freshness to the genre. It's not another college porn game, the monster angle is presented in a fun way and makes the experience unique and enjoyable. The renders are one of the best I've seen, animations are great (not S-tier but they are great), sex scenes are super hot and characters are intriguing and desirable.

The plot is also interesting and it has enough twists to keep you hooked. It's definitely one of the best games I've played and one of the few I look forward to. What's worth mentioning is that updates are rather frequent and yet the quality is top notch and the quantity is satisfying.

10/10 game IMO

Had the writing not gotten me to quit after an hour this would easily be a 4 or even 5 star game, but I just cannot handle the way it's written. The dialogue is annoying and overly expository, the interactions are all incredibly stilted, and while it is mostly grammatically correct, there's no flow to any of the conversations.

However, the biggest flaw for me is the MC. He's just a huge fucking tool and every painfully obvious observation, every idiotic errant thought, every braindead decision made me want to punch him in the face. He's supposed to be intelligent and educated, yet he acts (and thinks) like a knuckle-dragging idiot. Everything has to be explained to him like he's five years old, his psychological analyses are all surface level at best, and nearly every decision he makes is poorly thought-out or obviously going to backfire. I'll be honest though, Anne's speech at the beginning about how the MC is the greatest thing to have ever happened to her in which she lists all his qualities and begs him to live with her was actually cringeworthy and already had me disliking the guy (and Anne), so it's possible that initial experience ruined my perception of the rest of the game.

Still, I'd be remiss to not praise the level of polish on the audiovisual front. The renders are great, the models are gorgeous, the animations are incredibly fluid, and the sound is all great. It's a shame the writing ruins it for me, because the production value is amazing.

Ultimately, I say give it a try. Just because the writing bothers me doesn't mean it'll bother you, we're all here for different reasons.

Monster College stars Peter Wellwood (default MC name), a man whose normal life is flipped upside down when he finds out about his werewolf heritage the hard way. Sent to a campus full of supernatural beings, Peter has to navigate his way in an exotic yet weird place while figuring out his own self.

With that out of the way, let's see how well this game executes the premise, shall we?

• Character designs are on point so far, both for the background characters and the Love Interests (LIs). They look diverse and unique from each other, and it's nice that not all of them are kemonomimi (basically just humans with very little non-human traits). You got succubus, vampire, zombie, doll girl, goat girl, etc. Monster girls lovers would be delighted
• Sex scenes are nice. They are well choreographed and shot, and the pacing is neat. Most of them aren't animated, but the few that are animated are serviceable.
• Character personalities, mainly the girls, are interesting and enjoyable to engage with. Nothing groundbreaking and pretty much what you expect from a harem-like setting. but it kinda works.

• The game is your standard English as a Second Language (ESL) experience; filled with syntax and semantic issues. The former is mostly grammatical mistakes and inconsistencies like going from 'Ms.' to 'Mrs.' for the same character, using 'he' for a female character, an out-of-nowhere Italian dialogue despite setting the game to English, etc. The latter—sadly—got hit the worse. Nothing godawful like Dating my Daughter or A Mother's Love, but it's still unpleasant to read through at times. The general problem is not enough colloquialism—as in, too little casual terms and phrases you'd expect in everyday convo, causing a good chunk of the dialogues feel stiff and awkward. Like, I understand if the noble vampire and the dean speak formally, but no way the MC would say stuff like 'denigrate' and 'supplicated' unironically.
• Relationship progress with certain LIs feel rushed which create the dreaded "tell, don't show". For example, Peter can't stop simping over Nina the vampire, calling her amazing, smart, confident, yada yada. Yet, we barely see her doing anything to deserve such praises. She got caught by a surprise drop kick, for God's sake, despite being a highly trained fighter and werewolf with enhanced smell and hearing. When she cheats on her boyfriend with you, it feels hollow too because we barely see them arguing or Nina looking uninterested, annoyed, or sad with him.
• Peter, the MC himself, feels bland. I get that the player is supposed to shape him as we desire throughout the game, but all we got of him is he enjoys psychology... and that's it. The game tries to make Peter perceptive, yet he only ever makes shallow and surface level observations, thanks to the stilted dialogues.

All in all, you can find some enjoyment out of this game, especially if you love monster girls. It's just, the negatives I pointed out stop it from being truly special, and it ends up just like your typical ESL harem-ish game. Monster College would've been much better if the devs hire a better wordsmith, spend more time on developing the relationships between MC and LIs, and adding more interesting traits to Peter. It's a VN after all, so the Novel aspect must be on point.

Thing is, I can't see them doing all that without starting over. Oh well, it is what it is.

I don't know what it is exactly but this is just one of those little gems you come across that ticks all the boxes. It is pretty damn funny, yet intriguing with all the assorted monsters and who is genuine or not. Some of the girls are very hot! some are definitely not, but it's up to you who you want to pursue.

I was skeptical at first, thinking this would just be a silly goofy game but it pretty much drew me in from the start. It just has a charm about it and most of that comes from the colorful characters and choice of options with varied responses when talking. Trying to work out what each girl wants to hear if fun and so is the increasing MC's powers part.

Overall a very enjoyable and at times humorous romp that is great fun

A delightful game with fun characters that set each-other apart. Even if their design is nothing unique. The story is interesting as well, with good dialogue, but it seems to skip some beats at time. For example when they introduce a lost item and suddenly you are acting like a detective and looking for suspects. As if someone asked you to do so. Still a game that I'm gonna come back to when it updates.

Been itching for a good monster avn and this is it, love the designs for each character model and they look wonderful, with perfect body types, writing is also superb, im hooked on the story and keep wanting more and the characters feel somewhat alive in a way with some humor of course, few things i don't like though that the animation scenes are a little bit jank and way too short but thats it for complaints, definitely reccomend this avn so far

I would have appreciated if the set up was a bit more creative than just
silly named stone is protecting us from outsider gaze, something akin to Harry Potter's you have to dash yourself at a column with a shopping cart, yes I know technically you don't have to do that to reach Hogwarts since Harry and Ron returned to Hogwarts with a car....but I digress this is not a HP review.

Everything else about the game is perfect : tons of meaningful choices, a good cast of female characters, good variety in the characters and most characters have at least one likeable trait or are hot (looking at you Dracomira), great sex scenes and animation. The lot.

I don't expect the story in adult games to be J.K. Rowling levels of writing so my minor grievance in the opening paragraph can be excused and this game retains it's 5 star review-

I think this game gets hard carried by the monster aspect. I love monster girls even more than the next guy, but beyond that the game really doesn't have much going for it compared to the next.

That's not even to say the game necessarily sucks. It's a kind of goofy not taking itself too seriously college game but with monsters as the twist. If that sounds like fun to you then you might enjoy this.

Still, it's a pretty standard college game otherwise. MC is kinda dumb and horny most of the time, love interests and events aren't that deep, not much plot yet (mostly just jumping randomly to different girls), dialogue is forgettable, etc etc. Just kind of unremarkable at the end of the day.

Honestly I'm finding a lot of the character designs hit or miss, with a majority being misses. A personal preference thing but man I thought that vampire was a clown girl when I first seen her, and I think the mermaid is a very ugly combination of colors. Besides that most of them feel rather generic to me.

Renders look good and animations are fine enough when present. Bonus points for having a gorgon love interest. I'm pretty sure what powers you choose doesn't actually matter much, and just slightly alters dialogue which is a little lame. The pacing feels too fast imo, the game would benefit from giving itself moments to breathe.

TLDR - Mindless fun college game about monsters, but nothing deeper than that. Not a game that will stick with me personally.

There's fun, sex, some witty dialogues: everything you expect from a high level porn game.
Nice renders, good story, lots of really different-looking girls..
M is of course a special guy, but he has a lot of deepth. It's a visual novel but some of the choices you made may alter a bit the story, even if only in a negative way (you may miss some scenes..).

If I have to find a negative, my only complain is the tits size: they range from above average to huge and are always firm and round. I'd love to see some small "mosquito bites" or some sagging... but is really a minor issue and probably most of players love it this way

Great game.
It has good looking characters that are all different which is fun. It has animations all in the right spot. I haven't got too far into it but it seems great so far.
The biggest knock is that it feels like everything has a "right" and "wrong" decision where I like it just be different decisions. I maybe wrong on this but it is hard to tell. It makes you want to only respond with what gives you hearts for an NPC.
Not sure if there is any benefit to picking the "wrong" path.

The setting is the typical average guy learns that he has special powers and is then transported to a magic school stuff, so nothing groundbreaking but I like this scenario so I don't have a problem with another version of it.

The MC is relatively ok. Not too stupid but also not OP. He is unreasonably popular amongst female students (and teachers) which is not explained but since the game doesn't take itself too seriously it's not a big issue.

Where the game truly shines are the potential love interests. There are some interesting takes on well known monster species amongst them for example Rachel the Vampire with her love of the color pink, the zombie girl who other than her green skin is quite different from the usual emotionless look or patched skin, the mermaid girl looking very different from how mermaids are depicted usually and so on.
And what I've never seen before in other games, the ragdoll teacher. I never imagined before that a ragdoll could look hot but here it is.

I have some minor complaints like the sudden scene changes at some places. For example suddenly changing to MC-s training in the woods after the pool party scene.
Also the exchange in the prologue with Anna was a somewhat strange. If you select that you love her that the reasoning why you don't want to move in with her seems week. Then if you want to max out your relationship with her make MC seem like a simp suddenly deciding to move in because she opens her legs. Still she didn't seem evil or manipulative rather the dialogue was not well written. I hope in case of a harem route she will be able to join in despite not being a monster.
In the latest update, MC has a sex with Lily the gorgon girl who is certainly possessive and toxic towards competition and possibly even evil. The sex is not optional so I guess some people won't like it even though it's hot.

I liked the sex scene and wouldn't have avoided it even if possible, but I hope either it turns out that Lily is not evil and she will become friendlier to others or MC will keep up the relationship with her only to unmask her.
