Unity - Completed - Monster [Final] [ASOBI]

This review is directed towards the final version posted in this site.

I just finished playing this game and I have to say, the game has more bad sides than good sides and let me first start by the negative aspects of this game.

First of all, the voice acting.

The voice acting for the sexual scenes is not done well, in the long run it ends up being annoying and I don't remember if there is a way to disable that or not but.. pretty much the character just keeps on moaning and moaning and moaning and moaning in a way that becomes irritating increasingly fast and the moans are the same for each sexual scene. Whether the character is being penetrated, or is giving a titjob, or some other scene, it's always the same.. and there's also no variety on the moans, they don't differ from scene to scene.. which makes it repetitive

The other bad aspect of this game, which is probably what a lot of people look forward to when playing an eroge game, the sex scenes. The sex scenes in this game, while they're very varied and different from one another.. are not very good

There's quite a lot of scenes where genitals clip through the body or clothes kind of glitch out, there's one specific scene where clothes are supposed to stretch because of the position of the character's legs and that leads to a whole lot of visual glitching

Also, the fact that scenes last very very very little.. and you can clearly tell they're on a loop because it's super visible when scenes cut and start again from the beginning. Ejaculations are not the best to be honest and the way the camera is set in certain scenes makes it blegh, since you can't really see the genitals all that well and there's no internal view

The only saving grace about this is that male genitals were somewhat decent to look at

Now onto the good parts of the game

Music.. while music was not the most varied, I enjoyed it and it accompanied the puzzle solving well. It's somewhat cheering and fun to listen to while you're wracking your brain thinking on how to solve stuff. It's definitely one of the most "neutral", so to speak, points this one. It doesn't really stand out but it's also not bad.

And finally, the mechanics.

Mechanics in this game are rather simple, and the puzzles in this game are not overly complicated but I definitely found myself engaged and having fun trying to solve them. In this regard, it was time well spent as some puzzles took me quite a bit of time to realize what to do in order to solve them, they can get tricky as you progress through the levels.

So, as a final say, for any of you who might want to play this game and are doubtful about it.

If what you're looking for is the sexual stuff, then I'd recommend not playing this game as it is not the greatest as I've said previously but.. if what you're looking for is the challenge of solving the puzzles with some very mediocre sexual scenes as a "reward" for being able to solve them.. then you could potentially have fun with this game if your interests lie more in the puzzle-solving aspect.

Otherwise skip the animations are ok-good but they are mostly equivalent to just watching the 5sec clips on internet with less variety
Worse the gallery as 1 other reviewer at least pointed out is poorly handled (slow and with no info) so even a save/gallery unlock not a huge help here

Outside puzzle there no reason for this, unless into her outfit suppose.

Puzzle difficulty is all over the place: some you get first try, others you are stuck until the timer for showing the solution is enabled. There is even an option to give up on solving that shows the H scene, but strangely, there is a useless score system that seems to award one star for giving up and 3 for solving?
UI is horrible. Re-watching H-scenes means clicking a button to scroll down one at a time, while only seeing 5 options at once, and after watching the scene, you get booted back to the top of the list. There are 40 of them, why not just display everything? Any 1080p will have enough screen real estate for that to not be a problem.
Animations are good, not that "use a sinusoidal wave for pelvic movement and call it a day". Quality of models are kinda over the place. If there was no decent pubic hair available, it would be better to just use shaved.
Overall, it matches the price tag, though.

There is no story, no buildup, no plot, no logic, nothing. You complete each level and randomly see a sex scene without any context...

I'm a fan of puzzle porn games but this one felt completely disconnected from the porn content that is delivered which made me lose interest after finishing enough levels.

Scenes are very well animated but they are wasted on a barebone sokoban game.

Fun games and hot scenes, but you don't have free cam and can't even rotate it which is more than half the fun of the newer 3d games. Seeing what they've done in terms of physics, but it didn't waste my time so I'd put at right at average. You move boxes around into spaces, and it's not as bad as Asakusa puzzle boy, but if your in "leisure mode" you might just bail. Sure someone will post a full save.

Pros
+ H-scenes are animated with audio and you get a scene for every box pushing puzzle you solve. There are 40 in all
+ If you're having trouble with solving a puzzle, you'll eventually be given the option to see the solution. The solution will show you a step by step video of how to solve it. If you can't be bothered with that, you'd eventually be given the surrender option, where you unlock the H-scene without completing the puzzle. So no walkthrough required
+ Gallery
+ The puzzles vary in difficulty. Not all of them are super difficult

Cons
- The Gallery only displays 5 scenes at a time in a list. Navigating the gallery or "memories" in this game, is a chore because you can't scroll through with mouse wheel, or arrow keys. You have to click the up or down button which moves down the list one position at a time. So if you want to view scene 40, you'd have to click down 35 times.
- Some of the H-scenes feel rapey due to the audio. You do have the option of turning off the audio if you wish.

Conclusion
This is a well executed box pushing puzzle game. Getting stuck on a puzzle isn't the end and you'll still be able to unlock the scene even if you can't be bothered to do the puzzle. The H-scenes are well animated and you have the option to turn off the audio. There is no story, interesting characters or world, but the game doesn't need it. It delivers on solid gameplay and solid H-scenes.
