Ren'Py - Monstrous Liberation [v0.4] [BP Games]

Writing:

Writing is subjective, of course, but I find it to be a bit hit or miss. Some of it is entertaining and mostly light-hearted. Some of it is maybe a bit cringy. I haven't read through all of it. It's certainly miles better than the very low standards for these types of games - it's proper English and the characters have some depth and personality.

Art:

It's mostly static images. There is some pseudo-animation of going back-and-forth between 2 images. So the scenes rely heavily on the writing.

Scenes only have music. No sound effects and no voices. There is some sound elsewhere in the game... I assume (there's a slider in the options for sound, at least).

Kinks:

It's mostly vanilla, straight and futa, a slime creature/lady, tentacles with light bondage and a bird lady.

There is a BBW / thicc woman as part of a threesome or group sex in 2 of the full-length scenes (and also in non-group-sex in a few shorter scenes). A 3rd scene gives an option between that and muscles. This isn't really affecting my rating despite not being into that, because there's a lot to enjoy aside from that.

The main character is in every full-length scene.

Amount of content:

There are like 8 full-length scenes (the dev says there are 14, but I guess we disagree about what "full-length" means). There are probably a dozen more scenes which are very short or which have little or no action. There are 4 locked scenes, which I presume will come in future updates. 5 out of 8 areas and 1 out of 10 characters are not available in the current version.

Side note: They added a lot of content in August 2025. For any comments posted before that, saying there's a lack of content - take those with a grain of salt. Although I'd say the game probably needs at least a bit more content (if only to finish the story) before full release.

There is a gallery. You can't unlock all scenes at the start.

The biggest reason I'm marking it down is the lack of animation, voices and sound. The number of scenes are acceptable, but more is better.

Fat fucking bitch in all my sex scenes. Otherwise it's alright, art is plausible. Game is written like it's a high school love poem. I guess that's literally what a visual novel is but I can't help but feel some characters are written as self-inserts (big ass witch and the minotaur). Although short, this game is a good base for the upcoming releases.

Pleasantly surprised by this one. It doesn't have a lot of content for now, but what's there is polished and interesting. The artstyle is pretty nice, with many unique full-screen special illustrations for some adult scenes (tho some backgrounds are just blurred stock assets, which isn't great.) I was glad to see characters with many different body shapes, which I can really respect and appreciate when so many adult games out there reuse the same body proportions over and over again.

The characters are all likeable in their own way. I love the MC and Senza in particular ; they don't take shit from others and aren't ashamed of initiating sex, it's also fun to see them butting heads at the beginning of senza's quest.

But as I said, there isn't a lot of content here, and there is quite a ton of dialogue between each sex scene, so it can feel like a slog at times if you aren't invested in what's going on. It takes a while to reach its good parts, too. Maybe future versions will hopefully improve the pacing.

Alright, so I tried the game because I saw the BDSM tag, which is always a plus for me when it comes to a Female Protagonist. However, there was little to nothing in there save what you see in the beginning, and... as good as the writing is, I'm not a chubby chaser, so seeing the FL's "Mistress" in those scenarios was a turn-off for me. Some might really enjoy it, though, and more power to you. It's just not my thing.

But yeah, gotta say, this is a good game for what it has going for it at the moment. The story seems interesting and solid. It was funny in parts, had a unique twist to things, and while I wasn't a fan of the 'Mistress' given her appearance, I did love the rest of the cast of characters you meet.

I will say, though, to answer some questions: There is no real BDSM, so if you're a bondage fan like me who came for that... you'll be sorely disappointed, more so since the one scene it did have that was close, wasn't even of the FL and was only just one picture and - beating a dead horse here - I wasn't a fan of the chubby female thing. I get it, I'm all for body positivity stuff but, when it comes to porn, I'm just not a fan of it, but I pushed past it to focus on all the other aspects of the game which are good.

Future updates will explore more areas, which is nice. There seems to be some degree of actual "Choose your own adventure" type of spin to it, but since it's still very early in development, you only get the bones. But as of this current moment, I'd rate the game a solid 3 out of 5. There is not enough there at the moment to justify a 4, but I will likely change it in future updates after more has been added and fleshed out.

But... as much as I really, really hate to say it, the chubby mistress thing will likely be one of its key negative points for most, but hopefully I'm wrong!

Really promising game that should end up really good if Opportunity is any indication. Protag is funny and knows what she wants, none of that stupid innocent prude shit other female protag games do. Character art is really good and writing is too.

Honestly, the way the MC is handled is quite amazing, and there's now several girls in my social circle eagerly putting this on our wishlists.

The MC is down bad, but in a charming way that's frankly quite familiar. There's multiple times I had to both hide my head in anger and laugh at the same time (The slime! THE SLIME IS !!!) and so far the game manages to keep dubsent perfectly on the boundary of dubsent versus anything worse - and the way it manages to put it on the knife's edge makes it all the more exciting.

Also at least one of my friends wants to do cosplay of the witch's costume now, which I find rather amusing. Great work.

Great art! Story is decent, I'm very interested to see how it ends. If I had to complain about anything it would be that it is pretty much just a visual novel at this moment. Was low-key hoping for a game more like raven's quest, but I'm not upset with what I got instead.

Unlike what the previews might lead you to believe, the dark-skinned woman is actually fucking fat. The first scene of the game is a lesbian kissing sequence with the fat (not chubby) witch.

Way too much text for too little action. Wording in the introduction seems to imply the MC is a MtF trans...? Plays like what one of those twitter SJW types thinks a hentai game is.

Art is generally low-effort but compared to what you see in this site it's ok. Backgrounds are blurred out photos. No bugs. At least it has music.
